- PARANOiA is the most iconic series in DDR, so I wanted to take a brief (24 minutes lol) nostalgia trip and see how they all stack up. And it was a journey, my list changed drastically multiple times throughout making this video from the initial draft to really looking into each of the songs. I do want to hear what everyone else has to say since my DDR boomer status may have swayed my opinion a bit. Maybe you're furious about my placement decisions, perhaps you haven't even played all of the songs and this can be a good place to hear them for the first time. Let me know your thoughts as well as any ideas for future top ten videos. I hope you like it!

Number 10: Schizophrenia
The PARANOiA EVOLUTION ending effect on all the other songs added an extra level of hilarity I was just not ready for
kskst mix is my favorite only because it hits so hard. kors k delivered on that one, and it's a shame the game-sized version didn't include the best part of the song, near the end.
Rebirth and respect were robbed 😭😭 both are among the best charts of their respective games IMO

Rebirth is imo one of the best songs. Once you get to know the chart, there aren't any double steps until you reach the last stretch of the chart. The song is an absolute banger changing the formula only a tiny bit. Funnily enough, Paranoia Revolution wasn't the first to reference other songs in its expert chart as Rebirth did the same thing, albeit with more obscure songs since there were only 3 mixes at the time. I love picking this song any time I go to an arcade. ♥
I will agree though, Survivor is definitely the best.
Rebirth is super solid! Musically and the chart are by far way superior to Eternal. I prefer it so much more over Evolution and the Original as well.
Rebirth also references cut licensed songs like BEATS LIKE THIS too
Hard disagree about the charting / stops on Paranoia Respect but a solid vid nontheless

Paranoia Max always give me the visual of someone taking the original paranoia mix and submerging it in a puddle of murky dirty water. As for the clean mix, it's sort of harder to make sense of, but the background since kind of reminded me of some sort of purified light chamber or something.
Always thought the chart to Paranoia Respect was like that to make you add a drumline to the song.

I personally love Paranoia KCET clean mix. It has a similar sense of atmosphere to Survivor, and was a very unique remix for its time. But I do think as far as 2MB's remixes it is one of the lesser ones.

Adding to the heated comments debate by saying that I've watched the worst DDR charts video like eight times now and I wouldn't mind doing that with other lists.

Paranoia Survivor Max was the absolute pinnacle of DDR songs
I remember as a kid seeing some dude doing PSM on Heavy mode, not even Challenge, and I was memorized. He would heavy every song and AA them
As a kid, DDR was like the one game my older and I could truly bond over. Whenever we saw DDR Extreme in an arcade, we ran to it IMMEDIATELY

I enjoyed it! We need more videos like this reflecting on some of the earlier golden moments of DDR. The rush of playing the latest boss songs like the Paranoias and the Maxes were fun times when that was all we had.
played kskst mix for the first time a few weeks back cause the guy i was playing with recommended it as a solid 17. it was my first paranoia and i managed to clear with a B+ but at the end i fricking died and my legs were full of lactic acid. before this i've already cleared some 17s like usatei, bi, possession, etc.

You haven’t mentioned PARANOiA MAX club version or club another as probably forgettable.
I just wanna point out that the KCET ~clean mix~ chart may have seemed strange because it has several spins in it. If you're not doing the spins, I would agree it is not the best Paranoia chart to play. If you are, it's the most fun Paranoia and also the easiest.

Everything else however I can generally agree with (although revolution really deserved spot 1 tbh)
always loved paranoia hades myself, is very fun on controller. only ever got about halfway down on pad though

The fact he didn’t include KCET’s challenge chart, but included PARANOiA’s expert chart, even though it was technically not an original chart (added in internet ranking version).
i played the ps1 games way too much so KCET clean mix remains my absolute favorite, but your commentary is top notch as always

kskst is the best hands down. Like Trip Machine xac nanoglide mix, except Paranoia got a great chart and Trip Machine got a dogshit one. Also, Paranoia Eternal's original chart was so bad and was so hated that Konami/Bemani just decided it would be in their best interest to never reveal who charted something ever again.
i like KCET as a song but holy shit that double maniac chart in EuroMix is a solid contender for worst pre-MAX chart in DDR

Even though PARANOiA Evolution is probably my favourite one of all, since it was the first PARANOiA I've ever heard and played back in 2001 (and I still have a lot of fun playing it today), playing PARANOiA Rebirth in the arcade back then was (and still is) a fantastic experience. The steps are so much fun, the song is AMAZING, it made you feel cool, powerful, especially when everyone at the arcade would gather around the DDR machine just to see you, why? because you were actually stomping your damn feet to the beat of a song, and that was extremely cool, unlike what DDR has become nowadays.
TL;DR: PARANOiA Rebirth deserved a much much better rank.
Respect doesnt really have any doublesteps outside of the one section with the groups of 5. Even that is an extended spin pattern.
On one hand I appreciate them putting Paranoia on Gameboy, it' kinda goes hard to be fair. On the other hand, it's synced up about as well as my short 3 hour stint trying to learn to DJ

But seriously, your videos are always really fun, especially in a game where no one does scripted videos.
It's really cool to see old players' perspectives on chart series like this in a Top 10 having started only 2 years ago... I've always associated themes to groups of charts like trip machine, paranoia, put your faith in me, etc. but it seems the "tricky footwork" theme I see in paranoia might be seen as "dogshit charting" to others lol
It's funny I really do enjoy the paranoias but this list is all over the place for my opinions on them since I really like hades (at least ESP not good enough for CSP) and all the x-specials excluded in the list. I also love the kskst mix but I don't really like the chart and the cut unfortunately. But don't sleep on paranoia revolution DSP that is an outstanding chart worth mentioning.
You should've included paranoia max dirty mix SMM for the lols too
i would put hades a little higher maybe at #10 because most PARANOiA songs don't sound like...having paranoia idk

i think DDR has enough 4th wall breaking moments, there's a song with the old announcer speaking over it, and if it had more then those moments would lose their magic.

Hades was ROBBED. The chart was crazy ahead of its time, if it was released in a3 it would be seen as a challenging and unique chart but since it was in sn2 its hated to this day. The beginning is probably the weakest part, the brackets are interesting but really hard to hit without modded pads. The slowdown is pretty manageable if you learn it, and the triplet section and 16ths after are pretty fun. The end run is fucking gold standard charting, even if you hate everything before the ending its just so fun and intense but slow and readable enough to be doable.
Also, maybe its just how much i love the patterns in this game, but i recognize most of the references in paranoia revolution even while playing. A lot of the references are to fairly unique or recognizable patterns, so its not too tough to pick them out.

Dood, do you even KNOW what the classic PARANOiA charts even DO?! (OG, KCET, MAX, Rebirth most specifically...)
Their steps are high-tempo compilations of sequences from THE OTHER SONGS IN THOSE GAMES - like a test of mastery of the other songs!! It's the whole freaking PREMISE of the series, Survivor/SurvivorMAX and beyond nonwithstanding. Revolution isn't just a throwback to boss songs, it's a throwback to the premise as well.
I do kinda wish you factored X specials into your rankings, given that the Paranoia ones bring a lot of interesting ideas to relatively milquetoast charts

You can dog on the DDR GB games, but at one point they were the only official ones localizable that would work on US systems (until PSXchange came out)...
But also, you're a little off with the tempo thing... there's a "refresh rate" toggle where you can update the scrolling 1 pixel per (1-60 frames); which results in an odd selection of tempos that mathematically work. Both the sound and graphics can be updated with this rate system... pretty much any multiple of 30 wasn't too troublesome to create, but it was jumpy in-between. I think PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ and Rebirth on the GB were technically 192 bpm as a result (that or 188 bpm).
