- I've always been the guy who loves to compete in tournaments, especially in places I've never been before. So, when my schedule opened up (postponed events and cancelled events) I knew I had to take the opportunity to go out to the California Open. Everything I had heard about Clear Lake came true! My Brother and I were on the Lake Friday during this tournament... fishing for fun obviously....it was cool to be on the water and see 100+ boats head south through the narrows to get after it! Even with the traffic we had a solid day both getting 10+ in the boat with a 6lb and 4 in the 3-3.5lb range....Clear Lake is Fantastic!

Clear lake is one of those lakes where you need a 20lb bag almost everyday to be on the way to win. It’s crazy how many big bass that lake holds.

I’m going to shoot you a message to pick your brain on that format. I want to do the won series next season & need a better understanding of how it goes. I’d like a perspective from a pro as to what they expect from their AAA. I think I could learn a lot in this setting. Never thought I’d see the Ned play at Clearlake. Ned & shakey are the deal for my jam! Like the videos, very informative.
Didn’t even know Andrew had a channel till it was suggested from Scott Martin. It’s cool to see Clear Lake, hopefully more footage from some of my local lakes down south one of these days. Good stuff though!

I love Clearlake. I’m fortunate enough to be able to fish at such a good fishery. A 3-4 pounder is like the average size fish there.

Spoiled to spoiled to have this be my summer Lake growing up. This place is not only a " Bass Factory " as its called. But home to some of the biggest Crappie & catfish as well. Will be back up there in 3 was for a 3 day trip and can't wait. Still looking for my 8lb or above Bass. 🙏🏼
BTW - on a good day. You don't need to venture to anywhere but Rattlesnake Island. They love to stack up around that place 👊🏻

I had that same thing happen to me at clear lake thought I had a hog on a spinner bait but ended up being a 14lb catfish ugh

That's called "Gettin Clearlaked" I've caught so many BIG catfish while bass fishing up there at CL. Great lake though, tons of fun.

I like your how to videos a lot, but this was fun to watch you in game time mode. Maybe u can do more of these videos too. I look forward to videos from day 2 and day 3. Believe me, I wasn’t expecting to catch them on the ned either. The lake had just been getting so much pressure. On day one I caught them on the PBJ TRD but after that day I caught them on a Green Pumpkin 4” Ocho.
@@AndrewUpshawFishing Ya a ned rig makes sense. Hey Andrew because of your videos, I've bought some ochos in grn pumpkin and blk/blue. But i also bought some thunder crickets. And two weeks ago I caught my 1st bass on any type of bladed jig, and it was a 3/8 oz thunder cricket in white/chart with a rage magnum menace trailer in pearl flash. The largemouth was 3.5 lbs. Thats pretty big for me. I was pumped. Thx for those good informative videos!

25-35ft. Dragging it around isolated rock piles.
There was a guy on Lake Isabella who used to hand pour my favorite 4" paddletail worms (HP122). I've lost track of him. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why did so many fish die at weigh-in and upon release? Have it on good authority it was around 200.
I wasn’t told anything about that, to be honest. All of my fish were released by me and were all weighed in alive.
Article in local Lakeport paper had info. Talked about high water temp along with hot days and not taking care of the fish in live well. I.e. not running circulation in well enough. Good videos....
That’s sad! Hate to hear that. A lot of events back home cut limits to 3-4 fish in the summer to reduce mortality rates. Those summer water temps are brutal on bass.

I was using a Tour Grade Ned Head 3/16th ounce.
Well shit after watching this i wish my virginia lakes had grass like that they sprayed ours and put in asain carp, and it ruins the fishing for sure there floating across the heaviest grass ive ever seen and pretty sure the state record is out of clear lake
