The city is world-famous for being welcoming and inclusive, but as a chronically ill wheelchair user, I did wonder how accessible this unique coastal city would be for me.

Come with my best friend Izzy and I as we head from York to Brighton to explore Brighton Palace Pier, The Lanes, British Airways i360, The Royal Pavillion and so much more of what the city has to offer. We also found what has to be some of the best vegan food in the area - The Vurger Co, Terre A Terre, and Lost In The Lanes to name just a few. We stayed in a suite in the Jury's Inn Waterfront Hotel with the best seafront views I've ever experienced, and as usual encountered many laughs and palavers along the way... hope you enjoy!

My name is Pippa Stacey and I’m a disabled writer, presenter, and communications consultant based in York. I enjoy theatre, books, and fundraising, and can most often be found wearing some form of pyjamas and drinking all the tea.
I acquired my chronic illness as a young adult and struggle daily with the challenges of living my best life alongside managing a debilitating health condition. This looked lovely! I plan to visit Brighton later this year 😍 also, I was wondering, would Izzy like to do a vlog from her POV sometime when you two travel together? I'd be curious to know what she's up to when you are resting! I always struggle with being the person who needs to slow down and have had friends who made a big deal out of it, so seeing someone who is so accepting of your illness makes me wonder about what it would look like!

Brighton is still on the list for me & my best friend, but it's subject to her cancer. The i360 would have been brilliant for us both twenty years ago, but as we both have vertigo, probably not now (thanks, brain tumours!) I'm glad there's so many good establishments and they all seem to be accessible & that the Pavilion also aknowledges the Sunflower Lanyard. Take care.
