"A band is basically a group of people's ego put together into one large massive ego which then goes out and throws their ego all over the rest of the world and other bands" this should be put in definition for bands! Lyrics were always the reason I listened to Senses to Fail and I still love them
I'm happy that SF was the way it was. Got me through 8 years. I would tune out to LIEY and SS to come up from a depressive state. The understanding was great. I felt like someone else understood and just couldn't not like it. Buddy you didn't do this selfishly and you shouldn't doubt what you did. You DID something for others, and you DID what was right. Your core fanbase FUCKING LOVES you and your music for what it is. You spoke to us in your own way and because of what you did, you're who you are now.
I met Buddy at Warped tour back 6 years ago and he took a selfie with me. Even though Buddy isn't a world famous celebrity, it felt that way to me when I met him because I relate to his lyrics and music so much and Senses Fail as been a huge part of my life.
I'll never forget going to Hot Topic during my Freshman year of high school and purchasing Senses Fails AP magazine cover. Will always love this band and remember how much of a role they played in my upbringing.
I remember seeing them live for the first time at TOC 2005. I had heard of them, but never realized how much I would fall in love. I admire how grounded and mature Buddy has become. It's humbling. His reactions were priceless. However, he said Pop/Punk! Like no you were EMOCORE lol Despite what anyone thinks I dig their new sound and growth. Follow your Bliss 🤘🏼
I keep coming back to this video once every 6 months or so, I love it. AP should make this a series, where either Buddy keeps reflecting on the time, or hosts a show where other artists can reflect on that time. I still am heavily into bands in the scene and this era of music, it still makes me nostalgic regardless of that. There was nothing like getting home from school in junior high and high school and turning on Fuse while eating snacks and doing homework, learning about all of these cool new bands and who was playing on Warped Tour or Taste of Chaos. The good old days.
this was really awesome to watch. I've been here all along for the 10 years, watched this band evolve in front of me and how their music has evolved my life in some ways, its just a big trip. This video is rad i dont even know
I've never had an emotional connection to buddy's lyrics. It's not something I've ever experienced in my life. However Senses Fail has been my favorite band since 2003. With how how much the band has changed and evolved, I have loved and enjoyed the journey that is Senses Fail. Thanks buddy for being true to what you love
I have to say to some extent this is still one of my favorite bands. While my music taste has evolved, and changed over the years, I can still go back and listen to the music of this band and enjoy it. In a time when My Chemical Romance ruled the radio waves I found the album Let it Enfold You, in a now abandoned store that was once an amazing CD store...Back when iPods and MP3 devices either didn't exist or hadn't caught on at the time...there I found this band that no one talked about, i never heard about them...but, they had a name and album that struck me...I picked it up on a whim and haven't regretted it sense..It was a different world back then...I had just or was about to graduate college, when I discovered this at a pivotal and eventful time in my life a long long time ago in 2005, a strange and distant time. In a way this was my soundtrack for a couple years as I transitioned from high school to college, dealt with losing friends and being kinda lost and not sure what was ahead of me, and making in meeting new people in college when I was almost sure i would never fit in with anyone....This CD accompanied me on many lonely nights as i delivered Pizza's, and it accompanied me during good times as well....Don't get me wrong there was other music from that period that still influences me, as i have always had various taste, and as I listen to these guys, the seeds had been plant for awhile, and i was slowly and finally seduced by the wonderful world of Metal....where I found Chimaira, Lamb of God, and many other who became great outlets to listen to when i was angry or upset....or just wanted to listen to people....and Children of Bodom, Immortal Souls, and the melodic and wondrous sounds of melodic death metal.....and the aggression of Death Metal...Now I'm kind of like all over the map...i still love metal and punk....but, i have had a growing interesting in music that i think most might not care for....the smoothness of jazz, the world of blues, the wondrous tunes of polka, even classical music sounds good....but, i still love me some Metal and Rock N Roll....but, man this kinda made me relive the past a lil....it was a fun little romp.
I love this, and also miss when the "alternative scene" wasn't so saturated with generic bands. It's hard to find the good ones of them all, but I can safely say Senses Fail is one of them.
LOVED watching this. I remember when that edition came out and I was so excited to read about one of my favorite bands. Would love to see more videos of artists talking about their articles from "back in the day"! It's really interesting to see how they've matured not only as a band but as people as well.
The first time I heard Senses Fail I was on a family vacation in Hawaii. It was the summer of 2005 and I was 11. We all went on a vacation to Hawaii to celebrate my sister's high school graduation. I had adopted all of her music tastes growing up, in fact my first ever concert was NSYNC. Around the age 11, though I was adopting some of her more "punk" (I called these bands punk because I didn't really know what punk was) music like Yellowcard, Jimmy Eat World, and others. My sister was talking about this band that she really likes was actually in the same city we were in to do a show and this radio station was interviewing them. I remember hearing Buddy talk about how he would still preform just fine after getting hammered the night before. Then Buried a Lie started playing and my sister and her friends lost their shit. Senses Fail opened up my interest in this specific genre of music. They are what led me to liking a lot harder or "screamier" bands and unfortunately brought me into my little emo/skater kid phase. I don't really listen to that kind of music that much anymore. I got over the whole emo or scene thing when I was 14. Still though I still listen to Senses Fail frequently (along with bands like Slipknot and Beartooth) but Senses Fail is still the best of this type of music. Especially Let It Enfold You.
Track Jacket x C Umm... No? I actually still listen to a lot of the same kind of music. I just kinda now listen to every kind of music. I don't really care for EDM or dubstep or whatever else people are calling it. But thank you for that very uncalled for attack but you are very very wrong.
This was fun to watch. Back in 2003-2004 we had the Internet and better access, but we didn't have smart phones or TH-cam, so I think us teenagers were much more naive about the world around us. I'm a lot like Buddy though, I'm glad we have these songs, bands, and memories to look back on, because like he said, the pop/punk genre is basically dead & the music business is completely different now. It's funny because I bought 3 SF CDs in high school but I never knew who they were or what they were like. Music spread much more by word of mouth back then.
im 26 now I've been listing to senses fail since I've been in high school I've grow up a lot but i do know i don't regret anything now buddy and i have a lot in common but if i had my way i would dress the way i did in high and just don't give a fuck like i did then now im stress out all the time work a job the don't pay shit and have to give in society and the only thing that gets me though the day is senses fail don't change a thing i love the way u are now as well as then too
Buddy I think your music actually helped me in a way where it made me want to be a better person i don't know how but it just did, and your music is socio lid not care if you were trying inane the world feel bad it did but it helped me a lot in a bunch of different ways. So thank you.
I have to say this is quite refreshing to see him humble himself and how much he has matured and grown-up. I was the biggest Senses Fail fan and met them circa 05' at warped tour and they were the biggest jerks to us. So, I have to say, seeing him speak about how far he has come took the bitter taste out of my mouth from so many years ago. He seems like a pretty nice guy now.
Buddy's completely right about the genres that were so big and present in culture just probably about 9 years ago are completely saturated and just a simple brand to attach to your lifestyle and band anymore everyone tries to be these genres rather than actually try to reinvent or redefine and add sownthinf news sb different and Thier own unique styles to it instead they stick to o redone cliches and riffa already done before rather than anything meaningful anymore
this is a great video.. he's seems pretty awkward because he probably doesn't like looking back. but this just shows he's a real ass dude that isn't trying to get famous. buddy isn't a god, he isn't life. he's a normal person that just comes up with great music with 4 other bros.
Right, but his lyrics were and kinda still are godly. Sometimes I go back and listen to songs like Still Searching and am still blown away like I was at 19 by his words.
gotta say, Let It Enfold You, is my favorite album to this day.
The fire is the only album that contends with it but yea I agree.
The Fire > Let It Enfold You
It shaped the person I am today
Bane sweater, I have to respect that
Hopefully someone noticed it.
Bane has always been my favorite band, and I’m a huge senses fail fan. Love that they still embrace their hardcore roots
Yea man Senses Failed helped me through some very dark times. My addictions happend the same Buddy's did their albums where a life raft.
Same bro. Same!
Yes, it was like the albums were released at the perfect time, and the band grew with us.
"A band is basically a group of people's ego put together into one large massive ego which then goes out and throws their ego all over the rest of the world and other bands" this should be put in definition for bands! Lyrics were always the reason I listened to Senses to Fail and I still love them
Buddy's lyrics wow. One of my favorites is from Cute When You Scream, now I spit bullets from my pen.
Do you remember making this comment?
Total nostalgia for me!! Coming home from school in 2004 and.seeing the video for buried a lie on fuse.
Not just Buried a lie! They aired "Bloody Romance" once or twice lol.
+Bt2BreakSkn I loved bloody romance.
Yea well I like turtles
I met Buddy at Warped tour back 6 years ago and he took a selfie with me. Even though Buddy isn't a world famous celebrity, it felt that way to me when I met him because I relate to his lyrics and music so much and Senses Fail as been a huge part of my life.
Buddy, you are an inspiration to me, I'm very happy to know that you're happy now, keep on making great music like you do, I'll still listen...
Wow man. Time flies. I remember when I was around 13 or 14 and I bought this magazine. Loved the band and I still do. Great stuff.
I'll never forget going to Hot Topic during my Freshman year of high school and purchasing Senses Fails AP magazine cover. Will always love this band and remember how much of a role they played in my upbringing.

I feel ya. Also, his development as a person is admirable.
Weird take
senses fail has been, will be, and always has been a true, no frills, absolute professional band...bands nowadays can learn soooo much from them.....
Senses fail was my childhood band. Still love them to death. Buddy, has went through a lot and is a very big influence to me and my music career

I talked to buddy a few weeks ago. He's a chill guy.
As someone who is touring and from NJ, Buddy hit the nail on the head about people thinking were insane and insensitive
Love this band. Not even into emo but this is such a great and underated band.
I love this, and also miss when the "alternative scene" wasn't so saturated with generic bands. It's hard to find the good ones of them all, but I can safely say Senses Fail is one of them.

Lemme guess, you're into edm and shit like that, now? Fuck off, you changed trends with the scene just like everyone else who "grew out" of it.
Track Jacket x C Umm... No? I actually still listen to a lot of the same kind of music. I just kinda now listen to every kind of music. I don't really care for EDM or dubstep or whatever else people are calling it. But thank you for that very uncalled for attack but you are very very wrong.
Track Jacket x C Lol I even said I still listen to bands like Senses Fail, Slipknot, and Beartooth. Jumping to conclusions?
+DeeReeve how come your original comment got cut off? I was interested in reading the rest.

Buddy Nielsen the one of my real heroes. He and Gerard Way are helping me and supporting me everyday and everynight. Thank you for all, Senses Fail!
I was given this as a Gift; in the Hospital, coming out of a Coma! It was perfect
im 26 now I've been listing to senses fail since I've been in high school I've grow up a lot but i do know i don't regret anything now buddy and i have a lot in common but if i had my way i would dress the way i did in high and just don't give a fuck like i did then now im stress out all the time work a job the don't pay shit and have to give in society and the only thing that gets me though the day is senses fail don't change a thing i love the way u are now as well as then too
It's 2018 and i still have the AP Senses Fail issue. Funny.
Buddy I think your music actually helped me in a way where it made me want to be a better person i don't know how but it just did, and your music is socio lid not care if you were trying inane the world feel bad it did but it helped me a lot in a bunch of different ways. So thank you.
i really like this! do more of this type of segment!
I love how the band has progressed.
I have to say this is quite refreshing to see him humble himself and how much he has matured and grown-up. I dont know why or what it is, but whenever I see buddy in present time he reminds me of what a retired navy seal always looks like.
He's such a cool guy now for all the right reasons :)
wow, that's some legit, honest retrospect
Saw Sense fail last week, buddy's hair was dyed and finger nails painted. Thought it was funny how he said it was going to come back around.
I used to have the biggest crush on him when I was a teenager. He's still so handsome.
senses fail should definitely play warped tour this year!!
I absolutely love this.
Their a good outlet. if you are searching for answers start here. Peace out.
the fucking clockwork orange reference
Buddy is the fucking man.
I remember buying this issue of ap
Buddy Neilson is my hero
Shit! Senses fail has always been a top 3 band to me.
I miss Dan trapp 😭
Is it just me or does he sound different here compared to him a few years ago?
Buddy Neilsen is the man
From The Depths Of Dreams........
Buddys my hero
very interesting!

My brain cells died while watching this.

My brain cells died reading this comment.
I need to hear you scream again
Bane? I heard he was a big guy.
Bane!
Is Bane the name of a Senses fail song...
Superhero, Ali vs. Frazier 1, call me cliché but CAN WE START AGAIN!!!
tdagarim10 Bane is a hardcore band.
Dakota Davis Yes I know, im guessing you didn't see me naming off some of their songs?
tdagarim10 I didn't actually haha. I'm on mobile so all I saw was is "Is Bane the name of a Senses Fail song...".
lol i have total 2nd hand embarrassment right now.
Does he not have teeth or does he have fake teeth? I'd imagine fake from the smoking, drugs etc..
Nah, he's got teeth, some peoples smiles are just small.
