Glad I found your channel. Thanks for making this video. Ive never had a sump system as they look too complicated but you made a water change look easy so maybe I should get a sump system. I’ve been keeping marine fish for about 10 years and still haven’t got a sump system.
Hi Andy. Hope you're well. Yeah sumps make it much easier to house your equipment and maintain the system. Plus everything is hidden away and you can concentrate on those beautiful corals and fish in your main display. Take care and happy reefing
hey.. great videos great content.. i just picked up the same tank.. 2nd hand, great condition!!! well happy with it :).. only thing is i'm not sure its got the right return pump on it though??... can i ask what return pump running on yours??
Hi Daniel. Thank you. I am using the VCA split return with D-Flow Random flow generators. Posts some pics on HCA Reefing. We have a few others with the same tank. Happy reefing
Hi James. All depends on what you're looking to put in coral wise IMO Skimmer yes. Lights maybe go for something with a little more versatility to it. Radions Hydras GHL Return pumps ensure you can control it and your good. TMC do one thats not half bad 👍 charterhouse-aquatics.com/shop/aquatics/pumps/tmc-reef-pump/tmc-reef-pump-8000-dc-pump?gclid=CjwKCAiAp4KCBhB6EiwAxRxbpKMyTgtqAIEWy3U559i4SjI-5_htt798ZWZPSuW3mCmgyIPa7QilbBoCkcMQAvD_BwE Or similar.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but how full should I make the TMC Reef Habitat 60? Not had a reef tank with a sump beneath before so I'm not sure how to get it all balanced correctly. Thanks for any advice.
@Dwaelj Wanderer, not a stupid question cause I got it wrong for months, too 😆. Ok, the water level for the main display should be going over the highest overflow pipe. You have to use the valve to slowly adjust until it rises. Then, extra slowly adjust the valve until it's silent when going down into the sump. With the sump, I ensure my water level is high enough to go over the baffles to return chamber, like maybe an ich or so more. So, my return pump is submerged enough.
@@hcaquaticsreefing Wow! Thanks for the super quick response! I assume the valve is the big red one on the centre pipe. I'm still setting up and will need more salt water to get it that high so will have to top it up later in the week when I can get to the aquatics centre. Meanwhile, I'll get a heater in the sump and another in the display tank to get the water up to temperature and start cycling the sump with a quick start. I had a Fluval 50 before so I anticipate a steep learning curve! I may well pester you again.
@Dwarlj Wanderer, No worries, I started off with a Fluval M60 so I can relate to where you're coming from. This will be much easier. Yeah, the valve has the red handle. To be honest, you may only need the 1 heater in the sump as the water would turn over and in a day get to temp. Just DM on Instagram if you need any help

Hi. Congratulations!!! I am using an Ecotech Vectra S2. 👍
@@hcaquaticsreefing thanks for the reply!! Ecotech Vectra S2 are quite expensive.. will look for cheaper equivalent.. keep the vids coming ;)
TMC has a great line of return pumps as well.
💯 !!
Awesome setup and great video, I have just started with the same tank. Can I ask what split return nozzles you are using?

Hi can you show me where your sump level should be, there’s no markings on the sump to show max levels
