    • @hcaquaticsreefing

      It's easy to start off. Recommended to start off with 5ml per 100 litre of aquarium water daily. Then, adjust accordingly 😌 while you test your water parameters for calcium and alkalinity. It comes in powder and liquid forms, so whatever is easier for you. Depending on what corals you have in your system, you need to keep an eye on your micro trace elements as time goes on. Iodine, for example

    • @hcaquaticsreefing
      @hcaquaticsreefing 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do move a lot of water. I have changed their settings to alternating left 50% forward and right 50% reverse. If you have a tank my size, the orbit 2 would be perfect. The 4 would be way too much in a small aquarium IMO.

    Hi there like the new pump but i must warn you against keeping your heater in the return section. If it runs dry your heater will be out in the air.

    I found D&D pretty good for when you do have faulty equipment, their customer services are very receptive.

    Great tips, gave me the inspiration to start a pico 1.5 gallon, what would you recommend on lighting schedule, how about dosing if you do that too

      Not too intense for lighting all depending on what corals you have. Forget dosing. Just do those waterchanges 👍 😊

    Metal halides are still the very best artificial lights for any reef aquarium. Anyone can still order one of the best fixtures ever made, the Giesemann Spectra, from Germany. The fixtures and ballasts will last forever! The bulbs can be changed every 1 or 2 years, depending on how many hours a day it's used. Also, in USA, Reef Brite still makes metal halide fixtures, ballasts and bulbs. A brand new metal halide company called Aqua Bright Solutions was just launched this year (2024). They said the demand for halides is growing each day and there is a possibility they would be able to produce some fixtures and ballasts soon. People are starting to wake up for the facts! There are a lot of people getting back to metal halides because of the actual qualities of light and the tremendous results, not fashion nor the illusion of control. Serious lights for serious reef keepers! Sun in the house! The control of colors and intensity LED provides is like a scam to sell the LEDs. Without specific equipment people just can't know how "good" LED fixtures will be for their corals. One thing for sure, LEDs will never be as good as halides! They are different technologies and one can't substitute the other. I know "good" an be subjective, specially if it means personal preferences, but it's like comparing the sunlight with a bunch of blueish flashlights. The aesthetics of fluorescence is like a scam! It will show and sell corals for their fluorescence, and that alone is a huge money machine. Not natural! Corals don't lighting similar to any LED in the ocean. They will survive under LEDs, not thrive. Metal halide is the best technology for resemble sunlight over any aquarium.

      Love that you've been willing to keep shouting this Alex. My SPS tank in 2003 with live rock, kalk, and 250watt DE halides was so so easy and could grow anything. My modern tanks are so much harder and more complicated. Wife and I are considering putting halides on our new system. Enjoy kessils, but nothing compares to the ease of halides and live rock - we already solved these things and went and created a bunch of BS to sell that has overcomplicated what already worked. LEDs are a great replacement for vho or supplemental t5s, but after three years of testing LEDs, I'm itching to go back to halides. People pretend halides aren't used, plenty of small and large coral growers still use them for a reason. If you've never spent a few years on halides then spent a few years on LEDs you just don't understand. Especially on a young tank.
