Parts of old Bangalore (Jaya Nagar, Malleswaram, Cantonment etc) do not see such floods. These only happen in areas built for "greed" and quick money. IT parks were one such scheme.

Bangalore is receiving a unpredictable rain due to a cyclone which is not absolutely not controlled by either a government or anyone. I do agree all the politicians in our country our corrupted but that reflects on what we citizens are. Even we very greedy and cur away all the trees for big homes and malls and what do we expect. There are group of local people fighting against in this no one sees their work but will be the first to criticize.

In Banglore (in other cities as well), Due to to extreme human population density,
1. Air is hopelessly polluted (vehicular pollution)
2. Under ground water is heavily contaminated with heavy salt and metal concentration
3. Sewage networks spill over adding to the drinking and ground water contamination
4. Food is contaminated (food additives, colours) in the probably tens of thousands of hotels.
Effectively a Concrete jungle becoming more and more unlivable
5. Hub of all sorts anti-social activities - anti-solcial, anti-cultural, religious (negative)

All my life I have see a lake at this place.... this is what happens when you build a Tech Park on a Lake.
It is not only the case of Manyatha Tech park. Wrong planning by City Development.Authorities and greedy Builders and Buisness community made the city a mess. All lakes and low lying areas filled and constructed tech parks and Appartments, gated societies, big Malls etc, giving least consideration for water flowing facilities, drainages etc. Rain cannot be predicted by anyone as it is Natural. Now blaming each other is of No Use. Even now, big apartment complexes, Malls construct underground parking places. Do they imagine what will happen if rain continued for just one week? Entire underground floor will get submerged and all the vehicles will get spoiled. Instead, why can't they construct multy storey parking area? Why govt cannot insist construction of such parking arrangements for Big housing complex, Malls?

Bangalore infrastructure is very bad, yesterday school was 3:05 closed at 2pm but our kids reached home at 7 pm. Even we could not reach the school. Kothanur road, gedhallahalli under the railway track is a horrible road. I have raised a complaint multiple times but there is no use. We are known to adjust and live with the situation. That is why politicians take public safety for granted.

Old Bangalore is not flooded because of adequate open areas and trees. Outskirts are getting flooded because apartments are being constructed on rajakaluves with 100% concrete structures. So as long as there is demand, builders will flout rules. So there is no point in blaming the administration. People should stop buying houses built on such areas. You build a house on a lake bed and expect it to not be flooded. ?
