Classic. Beautiful. Fantastic. And a great value because so little is needed - the up-front price tag seems outrageous, but I use 4 swirls to load. Great addition to the store! And that Fougere scent? Simply unbelievably good.
Congrats, Matt! My son went to grad school in Paris. For Christmas he got me this soap. Fougère (fern). It’s absolutely fabulous. The shop he bought it at told him they had customers who would travel over from England to buy it. Well done!
merci de ce reportage j'habite à 20 minutes de Martin de Candre et je connais bien la propriétaire de la marque depuis des années :-) Pour moi le meilleur des savons à raser :-)
The glass jar actually isn't glass; it's a type of fully recyclable plastic designed to be like glass, which it does fantastically! They had me fooled as well.
I noticed the Martin de Candre soaps at Razor Emporium awhile ago and thought to myself that’s way to expensive! I’ll NEVER even try that! But after seeing this video and hearing about the simplicity of the scents, the quality of the product and the amount of product you actually get, it’s definitely something I’m interested in trying. I’m very interested in seeing a review video where you make some lather with it. I truly enjoy these videos Matt.
The first one I purchased was the Vetyver. It smells like no other and it truly lasts forever. Then I tried the Rose after seeing TH-cam videos and I simply love that one as well. It's an amazing scent. After about 50 shaves, my jar has gone done by about 5mm. Truly my favorite soaps !
In Europe at least they offer testers, in the form of an enveloppe with soap… bits. I bought the Vétiver to try, very good smell and the sampler lasts a long time. It's a good solution to try the brand, maybe something to add to the shelves of Razor Emporium.
PLEASE make this happen, Matt. I'm very interested in this soap but it is hard to spend this much on 1 soap when I can get 3 soaps totaling at least 12oz from other artisans(that also make fantastic soaps). I'm sure one day I'll just go ahead and try one. But not today, not when I'm still fairly new to this and haven't even figured out which scents I enjoy most.
Extro Cosmesi is an incredible value in shaving software. Packaged in 5oz glass jars as well, their croaps are all natural and easy to lather at about $35.
And they just last and last; around 5 years ago, I’d got carried away and picked up four jars in one go- opened the third one maybe six months ago, still perfect! I’ll probably start on the fourth and last jar by say fall, am sure it’ll be as good as ever!
Ordered sample of it from other shaving company to test it out first before I decide to order full size. I was a bit blown away on how good the soap is. Is it worth the purchase?? Yes it is only you don't mind shaving with same scent everyday for a year or so then go for it.
I have tried them all. They are all great especially Rose. Vetyver is more emollient and creamy…at least to me. All their soaps use essential oils. Fougere has 10 essential oils.

Cocorico ! Martin de Candre is a french soap. 🐓 Yes, glass jar was replaced by plastic one several years ago. It lasts very long and the scent are very classic and magnifiques (in french).
I'll keep it short and simple, yes it's expensive, but it's very, very good; if it was the only soap base in my collection, I'd be a happy man. FYI, the jars are plastic not glass and a 10 second load on a damp brush is more than enough 👍
Yes, I have tried samples of many shaving soaps but when I tried a sample of this soap it just stood out above all the others. The lather is not that dense and it does not have a long ingredients list but the moment you apply it on your face it just feels exceptional. In my opinion Varesino soap is inferior to this one. Another soap which gave me that wow feeling was PAA but I kind of do not like all those butters in it. I tried a sample of the Fougere scent and at first I loved it but after some time it made me sick:) another soap whose scent made me sick was Wickham club cola:) at a shop in Greece I smelled all Candre soaps and the one I liked most was the original scent so I am thinking of buying the 200ml tub.
I have the natural uncented, the agrumes, the fougere and the original wich is pure lavender. Been using both the original and the natural about 7 seven months ago now and all i can say is that they seem to lose only 2 or 3 milimeters in the usage, wich means they will last me at least 2 and a half years each. So, isn't it cheap for such a quality soap?
MdC! I bought a jar of the foguere maybe five years ago. I switch up soaps a fair bit so this jar is still going strong, like you say this stuff lasts forever. And wow, this scent is easily the best foguere type scent on the market. You say expensive, but when I bought mine I paid shipping from France lol. I always wanted to try a few of the others so it looks like this is my chance! Hmmm maybe citrus and vetiver.
Someone please ask MdC how is it in 50 years of making soaps they still don't have matching aftershaves and EDP/EDT? I don't understand it considering them make scents and people buy these soaps for the scent!
I am sure MdC is a good product, but spending 80 dollars on a 7 oz of soap is too much for me. I get that it is triple milled, but I can get six 6 oz tubs of Stirling for the same price and enjoy a possible 6 different scents.

I buy it. It lasts forever and as far as shaving soaps go, it’s the best. #1.

Yes, they have been glass but not anymore. But you don't really realize it... Fantastic soaps btw!

And Extro performs much much better
Best shaving soap I've ever used, lasts forever, so not as expensive as it seems 🙌

One of my faves
Yay! More software choices! 😀
Another excellent product spotlight Matt! Triple milled soaps last. A friend of mine loves this soap.
Happy New Year! Thinking this would be great to try in sample size first. Is that available? Thanks!
It is also available in 50 g here in Europe. That’s even enough to last a very long time.

@@RazorEmporium oh dear just saw this now. Is it too late?
Fougere is my favorite out of the MdC collection. Might be expensive but I've been using it for a year and it still has 80%+ left of the jar

@@RazorEmporium I like Bricktown brand Bizarre is my favorite. Sold by Razor Empourium.🤯

The price for the larger size is $55, the smaller one is 34
Razor Emporium has some of the best prices. Catch them during a sale and save even more.
MDC scents are the best out there imo but there's better performers not much residual slickness.
❤🪒💈excellent shoap Martin de candre.
