  • Check out Momigami! The Japanese art of changing paper to fabric. While this is a hack and not the traditional way Momigami you can get some interesting results. Very cool stuff. I will do a traditional Momigami technique down the road after some more research AND practice. This is a very cool mixed media technique to make some cool papers and fabric for your art journal.
    One way to make a starch is to use a teaspoon of tapioca starch (arrowroot) in 100mls of water Stir. Heat for 20 seconds in the microwave, stir again. Continue to heat for 20 seconds and stir until the paste changes to white. You can add a tiny bit of tea tree oil or dettol to stop insects eating it.

    I am curious to see if one can use other starches like agar agar? It will be fun to experiment with this. I will do some research so I can honor the traditional technique.
