  • Watch this video to see what it's like to travel on the Alaska Railroad's iconic "Coastal Classic" route from Anchorage to Seward.
We were SHOCKED by the nonstop, jaw-dropping, unforgettable scenery practically from moment one of this Alaska train journey. It may only be four hours long, but this Alaska Railroad trip has as much scenery as a three day train trip in the Lower 48!
In this video, you'll go on an Alaska Train Ride and see wildlife, landscapes, and rail action that only exist in the "Final Frontier:" Alaska.
This is our second Alaska Railroad adventure (we traveled on the Denali Star about three years ago), and we're so sorry we waited so long to try this route. It's a truly special First Class Train Ride!
We'll also explain what it's like to travel in Alaska Railroad Adventure Class and show you what we experienced in Alaska Railroad GoldStar Class.

I took this train with my parents when I was 14. Don Young, the long time Congressman from Alaska, was on the train. I got to meet him, and he was a great guy and probably the least politician-like politician I've ever met. Very down to earth, and his wife Lou was lovely. The scenery on the train was amazing.

At 11:11 everyone is a rail fan at heart. I had a group of 40-50 people up in Maine at Old Orchard Beach a couple of weeks ago and in Old Orchard, the Amtrak Downeaster runs right through downtown. I’ve never had so many people ask me when a Downeaster train was coming because they wanted to be at a train crossing and see the train go by and the engineers did not disappoint at all. But it goes to show that everyone is interested in it and right now too, they have 2 special liveries together on the same set which makes it so much cooler

Another amazing video Jeb! I really enjoyed how you showcased each car in the train with the names and footage to each type of car, that was a really nice touch you should definitely do from now on! That looked like an amazing trip!! You and Suzanne(sp?) looked like you had an absolute blast on this trip! It was really awesome to see all the cool sights along the Alaska coast. I was surprised the tide can rise 40 ft, that sounds dangerous!! Everything is big in Alaska I guess, haha. I said it before and I'll say it again, you deserve your own Travel Channel TV show!! Your presentation in your videos is amazing and you genuinely love to travel and see the world. Anyways I am rambling now. Thank you both for taking the time to film and edit this and all the other videos for us to enjoy! God bless you both =)

Rode both the Coastal Classic and the Denali Star trains last week! Your video from a few years ago was the selling point to upgrade one sector on each train to Gold Star class and it was well worth it. I agree, the Coastal Classic is the train to take (and upgrade on). And a bonus perk - the integration between the Alaska Railroad and the hotels/tours in the destinations it serves is fantastic. Everything aligned to the train timetable and it was so convenient being able to check bags all the way to the next hotel's front desk and have tours either pick you up/drop you off at the train depots. Made our trip very convenient. And a layover at SEA for some planespotting was the icing on the cake ;)

Hey there, happy first weekend of summer! Nice to be riding the rails with you guys this morning. The only problem with seeing all that magnificent scenery by train: There are so many places I would want to stop and get off to walk around, even for just a little while. (But maybe later in the year when it's not so freezing out!) At 5:19 I see you're sporting a pair of Maui Jims, the best sunglasses ever! I've been nursing my rose lens Typhoons ever since the model was discontinued more than a decade ago. Until next time, happy trails!

The cruise lines (NCL in our case) do a chartered train that departs from the airport, which is very convenient. No first class but every car had a clear dome top. Agree it was epic scenery - the best of Alaska! ❤️
