What To Do If You Got Tip Baited on Uber Eats.

  • Too many of us Uber Eats delivery drivers have been tip baited on Uber Eats and it needs to stop. Tip baiting Uber Eats drivers is not something new. Yes I understand tips get removed due to VALID reasons but that's not what tip baiting is about. Tip baiting is when a client removes your tip for NO REASON at all but to save themselves a few dollars and get their food for cheaper. Considering many don't make enough money doing deliveries this needs to stop. Sadly Uber Eats allows tip baiting and as long as Uber Eats allows tip baiting to continue, I will continue to help others get their money back.

    The best way to go about tip baiters is to 1) Keep record of their addresses and 2) Ones you have picked up same tip baiter order again just simply CANCEL IT after pick up and keep this order to YOURSELF. This is the only way you can pay back to tip baiters .

      @@DashWithAshinCanada Yes you are absolutely correct , to be on the safe side you can do this cancel/order hold process only once every 200 deliveries to avoid issue with Uber . But it works well in deterring farther tip baiting from particular individuals , I know this too well with over 9k deliveries in past 8 years with Uber .

    I do Uber Eats deliveries, i think we should never blame customers about tips, the real problem is that Uber is not paying drivers and is not transparent about how much the customers are paying and how much you are making from it .

      The root issue is with Uber. Either Uber not paying drivers enough, or providing a platform that allows tip baiting to occur.
      Uber will not fix this because Uber took their service fee and percentage from the order. Drivers are disposable to Uber.

      I know I’m late to the party, but I agree with you to a degree. Yes it’s their choice whether or not to tip. However, if a bid comes across my screen and I accept it, I do the job as close to perfection as humanly possible, then I’ve worked for my bid. Thus, that is what I expect to get paid. Were the bid different then I may not have taken it. Ugh sorry for the long winded blah-blah. TLDR don’t poke the bear in the butt when your head is in his mouth. 😁

    i went to the help section and typed tip bait. there is a page that pops up with a button that says i dont agree with the tip. it will ask for the reason, and then the date. you will then be connected to an agent who will explains how tipping works after you explain the situation. i agreed with the agent but pointed out i did the delivery perfectly so there is no reason to reduce the tip. i asked if there was a reason why the tip was reduced. the agent said there was no reason and it was probably just a tip bait, then offered me $4.50. i told them that was sad and they offered $5. i said i told feel confident accepting future offers if the amount would not be honored. i was then given the full tip. they will reimburse you but they want to haggle. which is fd up imo. its still better to get it this way than nothing at all. but removing the tip shouldnt be allowed without evidence of the driver messing up.

    I know the video is a month old, but hoping for some input, but I’ve run into this a few times this month, so not sure if it’s on the rise here, or just a stretch of bad luck. My rating is 98/99, so it’s not doing something I’m doing wrong.
    I’ve always followed the advice you have, call, be polite to frontline support and ask fora supervisor , and no issues except the last few times.
    Today was particularly bad, and I did everything discussed , and still nothing. To be honest after 45 minutes, I did lose my crap a wee bit, so I hung up, cooled down and called back, and rigmarole again, but did get my tip. I was over an hour plus between two calls.
    The first payment supervisor told me it was a new policy that they don’t compensate us for this. Second agent was better, but really was giving me a hard time.
    It was a shop and pay, in fact both were, so I think I’m going to shut that feature off for a bit, so frustrating. Wondering if you’ve heard of others running into this ?

    Ahh I got tip baited today. I was so flipping angry that I canceled my dinner run. 😅. Incidentally, I wanted to bring up my idea of the initial “tip”. What so many people call a tip, I consider a bid. Since we are supposedly independent contractors, I see it as a bid for my time and the use of my vehicle. So I work to take only bids that I’m serious about because thinking pragmatically is obviously important in a “business”. In any case Uber needs to deal with this nonsense (as well as others), and do two things - the first is to take away the ability to reduce the initial bid. That’s what we all accept so I think the customer needs to be locked in for at least that much. The tip after is obviously at their discretion. The second is - in my opinion - that Uber needs to use PIN numbers for all orders rather than just some so that way the customer can’t say that the order didn’t arrive. Juuust my two cents (okay maybe five cents 😎). Anyway great video! Subbed.

      @DashWithAshinCanada  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I apologize for the long delay to respond....TH-cam sometimes hides new comments in my review bin haha. I couldn't agree more about the PIN on all orders. Too many times we get blamed for something we didn't do and we barely have a way to back ourselves up so the PIN is a great idea and I like how you look at it as a bid...that's pretty accurate if you ask me

    • @PlanetSidewinder
      @PlanetSidewinder 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DashWithAshinCanada Yeah, my channel does that with my comments too, so it's all good. I don't know, I think all delivery platforms would do well with a fool-proof failsafe like the PIN just to eliminate the one element of customers calling in stolen orders. That would at least eliminate one issue. Will they though? Ehhh... not without a hefty lawsuit I suspect. Same with the ability to reduce the bid. Like I say, corporates don't care about us or how good we are at delivery - that's what we care about and pride ourselves on. We all know what the corporates care about, and it's got nothing to do with making us feel more secure. Anyway, sorry for the next five cents of my mind (maybe ten... or so) but thanks for the reply all the same and stay safe out there!

    Whenever I deliver, I always make time to repay for their generosity after a successful bait. 😁.....I come back to toss an egg or two at their car so they can place that difference towards a car wash. I'll post your address online and warn others not to deliver to their homes. Reap what you sow. People don't learn through tact and diplomacy. They learn through consequences. Do not use deception to get what you want. Walk in integrity or go get it yourself.

      I'm a 31 year old woman who's not into vandalism. I prefer the grown up approach of just walking away and making the company pay for it since they are the ones who even allow it to be a thing. One day a camera will get the best of you. Good luck on that journey though

      @DashWithAshinCanada well not if it's done at night in a diff car. Besides, sometimes the high road isn't enough to teach people who think they're more intelligent than others and abuse their strategies for personal gain while exploiting others. In Canada things may be different, but in the United States, deception is almost a sport. The high road will always cost you, always.

      You can assume it's a crazy mindset and not believe that people actually will remove tips for pointless reasons. Also, if the "good guys" are late, it's not our faults. These restaurants don't care and the cooks get annoyed of delivery orders coming in and simply take their time making food delivery orders. How is that the drivers fault? Oh wait. It's not.

      I tip generously because I know my apartment complex is a MAZE. That driver is wasting time trying to get to me, which costs them time on other orders. I will gladly pay for service I opted into. Tips are expected of me as I am using that person’s time, gas, & wear/tear on car (mileage). It’s never subtracted unless there is a serious reason.

    What the fk is "tip baiting"?? Are tips paid in advance? Thats ridiculous, you cant pre-emp service, if you take forever your tip is in the bin, if you keep food warm and are prompt I will tip well IN CASH.

    • @DashWithAshinCanada
      @DashWithAshinCanada  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tip baiting is when you did everything correctly...On time, food hot, all is good but the client goes in and removes the tip to save a few bucks or because they just wanted their food faster. Sadly, cash tips are super rare nowadays and I understand that tipping in advance is a foolish thing but these companies force us drivers to have to live off tips otherwise we make $2-3 per order...I also understand that's not the clients issue BUT it's the reality we face. I am not talking about when drivers mess up and treat clients poorly or multi app or choose to do things slow, tip baiting is JUST with the intent of getting your food faster without actually paying the tip.
