One of my favorite things about WGU was the lack of lockdown browser.
The fact that I’m a week into my program and suddenly have a new stipulation of installing malware on my device feels like a significant betrayal.
I’ll have to keep a plain, untouched install of windows specifically for that browser, and that’s insanely inconvenient. Better than letting them have full access to every corner of my machine with a “trust me bro” that they’ll not do anything with that, but still real shitty.
I may legitimately have chosen another school had I known they were changing to go down this route
I'm a Linux user and pretty much only use Windows for WGU exams and playing games. I'd use Windows in a VM if VMs were allowed, but I don't want to risk breaking the rules and getting caught.
@@rtlau-mk4di yep, that’s about the situation I’m in. Sandboxing and VMs both are completely disallowed, and it’s infuriating. I didn’t mind examity, sometimes it was annoying, but it worked fine and was fairly pain free. Now we are forced to give up all privacy and security, and have no choice but to install malware, and paid a hefty tuition for the privilege.
I feel betrayed also, can't even get through the exam without it crashing. But hey, it slows down our progress so WGU can keep us longer. Examity worked great, not the new proctoru.
It really sucks!! Keeps getting errors.. I stayed up all night and still couldn’t take my exam!! I’m so pissed!!
Same for me. One day it took me 4 hours to get into the test. Today it kept glitching. Examity worked good. Proctoru is Hell. They just tell me to try another day.

my issue with the proctoring is that we have this browser that locks things down and we have to share the screen, but they still make us position the webcam in different ways and are never clear on how they want it....if they can see the screen from sharing then the webcam should just be positioned on our faces, keyboard, and mouse.
ProctorU it is horrible. The only problem I had with examity was the language barrier with the proctor.
I took a test yesterday, and it was the worst experience ever. It took 3 hours to even get the stupid test to work due to the guardian browser bugs and then trying to connect with a proctor just for it to get disconnected from the servers.
Make sure to report it to wgu assessment department. I'm in the same boat.

Me too. Examity worked fine, this new proctor setup is a disaster. I can't even finish a test without it crashing. The mentors and professors don't seem to care.
I got my Bachelors at WGU 5 years ago and had no problems with exams. Loved my experience. I started my masters this month and it’s been a nightmare trying to take the exam. I have tried for a whole week to take my first exam and spent over an hour and a half each time and kept having to do the pre checks over and over again. I would get so frustrated that I stopped. I know it’s not on my end. I’m done trying and going to transfer to a different school.

That’s harrasment and creepy for them to be able to look at people and I know people who say they make them feel very uncomfortable and are harrassing them constantly picking on them.
I used proctorU with Apple M1 mbp no problem. But it takes longer to get result for OA I think?
Day 7 of not being able to take my exam because of issues with the platform. Right now I'm on with WGU tech support and proctotU keeps transferring us to different IT specialist and each one is not able to figure out how to stop the multiple sessions from running, why I'm losing connection to host or why my camera keeps disconnecting when I get connected to a proctor even though my camera is recording and operational.
Its so bad I'm looking at transferring schools.
Man these comments are scaring me. I have not started yet. Is WGU really that bad right now? Should I reconsider ?

Examity was the best. I hate this meazure learning thing. I had a horrible experience last time. Everytime I open the guardian website, my computer gets frozen. I'm taking my 2nd exam with meazure learning today which I have rescheduled 3 times already. Even the tech support are super slow compared to examity.I hope WGU change it back to examity.
I have a test tomorrow and went to check the assessment center and everything indicates it still not implemented yet, will let you guys know if I run into anything different tomorrow after exam!
Oh it is, there has been multiple complaint posts on Reddit already so you may be disappointed when you go to actually take it.
My only bad experience is every now and then I get a proctor that tries to tell me to cover my second monitor. I just tell them no and show them it's unplugged and they don't say anything else
I took my first exam with them today and it was an absolute SHIT SHOW! I emailed my mentor to let her know how irritated I was. I asked how to make a formal complaint
It's been the same for me, tried testing then doing a retake and it doesn't work. Get half way through and it crashes. Make sure to report it to the wgu assessment department. Proctoru just tell me to try another time. I'm mad, discouraged. Examity and other programs work fine but not this proctoru on guardian browser.
Spent 2.5 hours on Tuesday and 3.5 hours on wed going around and around with these nut jobs! I have yet to take my test! This is my last proctored test and I’ll be done with this shit show! These proctors do not care! They pass the buck by keep transferring you to another proctor when the guardian browser crashed then you get a new rep/technician and they start you all over again! I am sick of proctor u and they are worse than examity! I have a brand new modem and still can’t take my test! They don’t take accountability that their product is 💩! All they do is point the finger at the student and say it’s their computer! They are full of shit and so is the guardian browser! Testing with proctor u is a nightmare from hell! 🤬🤬🤬
I searched this topic online just so I can see if I’m the only person who extremely dislikes proctorU. I’ve only taken two exams through proctorU so far and it’s horrible. Both times it’s taken nearly an hour to actually start the exam. Only ever had an issue once with examity and it was a connectivity issue. Thankfully this is my last exam of the program so it’s no longer my problem to worry about. But they definitely need to get this tweaked. Issues with the browser, issues with them connecting, had glitches going through the exam start process where it would say I’d have multiple sessions running. And then when they transfer you back and forth between technicians it takes forever.
I read the whole proctoru problem thread, and it seems that the main people having problems are on computers ising apple silicon and people who are using docking stations and multiple monitors.
Apple Sillicon is what a majority are on these days I’d imagine.

Measure learning new proctor platform for WGU officially launched on January 9 for students in the College of IT degree programs and will be launching to the rest of the degree programs around July 16 from what I’m told by student services.
Business students will not have access to it until 7/16. We shall see.

@@alexsheppe I just finished a PA and it took me 40 minutes of troubleshooting and uninstalling software just to start my test. Examity took MAYBE ten minutes. I also don't love that they require Admin access on your computer. I created a separate user just for the guardian browser.
@@Mirandahatt same! This has been an absolute mess. 2 hours to start the OA. Disconnected multiple times. I’ve already taken two OAs with this new setup. I do not like how much access they have to our computers. If this continues, idk if I will stay with WGU. Never had an issue with examity.
Day 7 and 4 IT specialist later and I'm still unable to take my test.
Might have to transfer schools because of this
@@camerondavidson3765 i feel you man! I’m in the Comp Sci degree and I was trying to take my computer architecture OA. I was already nervous about it but having to wait hours before I could actually take the OA, made things so much worse. I will seriously find a new school if this continues.
What an absolute trashy Temu version of Examnity this has been! I have had to reachedule my oa 7 times. This is terrible!
Nope the new proctor is on complete bull shit the system doesn’t even work right. It loses connection , honestly it’s like a beta website it’s terrible might transfer schools never had a problem with examity
