My daughter and her fiance were both previously married. My daughter was raised Catholic, and he never belonged to any religious denomination. They both want to be married in the catholic church, so he enrolled in the RCIA classes for 8 months and also received all of his sacraments necessary for marriage. They both filed for annullment form their previous marriages: hers was awarded, but he is having a diificult time with his. X-wife is refusing to render any information which apparently the tribune needs to have in order to continue the process. Almost 3 years since this process has begun and now suddenly completely blocked. They have even met with the bishop of our diocese through no avail. I am so disappoiunted both in the church and the diocese.

Marriage Annulment or Divorce within the church should not be that hard. It's ridiculous. Seeing my mother go through a violent marriage to my father for 20 years were she was beaten weekly and sometimes daily depending on my father's mood or frustrations made me determined not to marry within the Catholic Church. But it meant I could not receive communion. But at least it left me with a civil recognition of my rights and a fire escape if I needed it. I don't regret my decision.

I totally agree with you. Tell your mom to follow Jesus . Be the catholic faith . Loving Jesus is the most important. If you give your heart to Jesus , He lives in you. You don't have to receive communion to have Jesus. Yes I am a catholic and my mom went thru the same harassment like your mom.

It costs money to pay the people doing stuff and file it same as a legal state divorce

My friend has been divorced for 40 years, her ex-husband has dementia. But the tribunal is still requiring him to fill out mountains of paperwork. And my friend is 76 years old wanting to marry a lifelong widowed catholic, who is 82. To me this is no brained and give them the annulment instead of putting the women thru the ringer. This why the church is loosing Catholics to other denominations.

My sister received an annulment for her first marriage. It was a fairly long process, 2 to 3 years. What I found interesting was that she was required to have a civil divorce before the annulment process could begin.

Yeah an annulment doesn't mean ur legally divorced but if u want to remarry in the catholic church u have to have an annulment (unless the partner died) bc they dont view divorce as anything important so a divorce without an annulment would mean ur still married (in their eyes)
It's all v confusing there's specific reasons as to why u get an annulment n u have to fit that criteria
Dunno if u already know this or not so I just thought I'd share

      We don't have anulments.The church doesn't "annule".
It is called DECLARATION OF NULLITY meaning that it was NEVER valid. To annule would imply that once it was and now it is not, which is what happens in a divorce.Catholu church doesn't divorce nor annule.
I had mine declared nulled and is how I know and learned.

The problem with Catholic annulment is this. It ignores the one reason Jesus said it was legal, adultery. Instead they want to look for some reason from the point of marriage and before, ignoring adultery. It’s ridiculous, do you think you will fool God. Under their rules, I know people who got annulments that never should’ve, and some who didn’t, that definitely should’ve.

    • @XavierY828

Jesus does not allow divorce in case of adultery. In Matthew 19:9 He uses the word “porneia” not “moicheia”. Moicheia means adultery, porneia means unlawfulness. If adultery was a cause for divorce everybody who wanted out of his or her marriage only needed to commit adultery.

That's how all anullments were granted until recent times, or until the protestant reformation in the 1600s. It's only "strange" now bc protestants stopped handling it that way. Marriage is seen more of a civil arrangement these days than the holy binding as it was originally.

You cannot disolve what never exsited an anullment declares the puntive marriage was never valid for some reason.

Civil court done signed divorced more than 15 years. Tribunal asking for 4 witnesses 😳😳???!!!!!!
who would simply and happily give bed time story to anyone about ugly abused relationship???!!!
And then there is 1st fee (application ONLY), 2nd appeal- another fee (Appeal court at Singapore), 3rd appeal - another fee ( appeal at Rome ) FREE FLOW ATM MACHINE…..??!!??!!
if decision is granted negative, the marriage still stands even though civil divorce is granted!!!!

After divorce from civil court ,judicial vicar should give annulment certifcate in a month.we catholics have to spend lots of time and money in civil court and as well as in annulment process. Catholics get mental harrasment in annulment of the church and even we pay fees upto Rs 1000. This annulment certificate is invalid in govt of india. I think church should follow civil court order and give relief to people. People have to travel 100km for annulment cases.Already civil court has given judgement, but still the judicial vicar has doubts on the judgement

This process is shameful. It has made me hate Catholicism. My mother, a devout, scrupulous Catholic, was unhappy in an abusive marriage for 30 years. After her husband died, she reunited with her high school sweetheart who had since been married and divorced. He is a good man. He's been patient with her for several years because she insists on this middle age process of annulment. The church denied the request. Actually said they could reconsider for 500.00. They denied them happiness again. Then they said they could reconsider the decision AGAIN for 100.00. The sticking point seems to be that they require more information from his ex wife regarding her adolescent years. Why? Why would that have any bearing on this woman and man's search for happiness through a church that doesn't love a devotee back. It's like she's in an abusive relationship all over again.

Careful with this, there are few valid annulments. The bible is clear: 3 But he answering, saith to them: What did Moses command you?
4 Who said: Moses permitted to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away.
5 To whom Jesus answering, said: Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you that precept.
6 But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.
7 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.
8 And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh.
9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Mark 10: 3-9.

One point not mentioned about the "Second trial": That trial fees costs more than 3 times more money than did the first trial. Please do not let anyone lie to you on this topic. Catholic annulment has always been about extorting money. I know this because I have been a victim of Catholic church annulment extortion in my own lifetime. Our whole family was excommunicated in 1963 because at that time we were too poor to pay the church, so they tossed us out!

@@mtalk828 For my entire life I have lived with the pain and resentment felt when my mother was excommunicated in 1963. And now to top it off you are suggesting that I am lying. I hope you are not also suggesting that the Catholic church gives women annulments for free?

    • @dalecs47
      @dalecs47 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@mtalk828 I just now took the time to look up the issue and found this quote in the Catholic encyclopedia referenced in Wikipedia: "In his 2016 Amoris laetitia, Pope Francis criticized the practice of suspending communion to some people who have incurred automatic excommunication due to divorce and remarriage."
      x
In the case of my mother, the priest told her that she could avoid excommunication if she paid the fee for an annulment, which at the time we could not afford. You are free to believe this or not. I understand that in 1983 there were some changes to cannon law, however I have no interest in any of that now. I honestly hate the Catholic church and there is nothing anyone could say to change my mind on that. Thanks.
