ALMOST 2018 and I still use a NIkon D90 which I have owned since 2009.. Mine now has over 100,000 shutter actions and is still going strong.. The only thing I miss on the camera is its poor HIGH ISO "Digital noise" when you compare it to the new generation camera's Like the D7500 etc. But where you have enough light..The Nikon D90 is still a great camera and produces NATURAL looking pictures..
@man0204 it depends on your purpose ! in my opinion, get Ni 85 f1.8 = portrait / Tokina 11-16 f2.8 = landscape / Sigma 150 f2.8 = macro / Ni 35 f1.8 = indoor lowlight ^^
I love my D90. I upgraded a year or so ago from a D50 and it is phenomenal. At low iso's (100-320 or so) the image quality is as good imo as a d3---if you have good lighting on your subject or in the scene. Using the 50mm 1.8 at f/7.1 gives you UNBELIEVABLE sharpness. I used it for portraits for my undergraduate thesis.
@Quintinlicious I was in the same situation as you a week ago. It was basically between these two cameras as well but I finally went with the D90. For me it was also a image quality VS. video quality issue but you need to think of what the main purpose is with a camera. You take pictures. The video function is a great feature but I didn't want that to be the main reason for buying a camera. But you really need to try them out before buying. Go see which one you truly like better and go for it!
This was the best explanation of any camera I've ever seen. Thanks Damon for your dedication, enthusiasm, attention to detail and insight. You made a believer out of me. Nikon cameras are the way to go. --- Godspeed
I've got the D5000, and it has the same lens sensor as the D90, a really excellent camera. Not sure wether you should go with the D90 over the D5000 or not, but the D5000 feels really professional and takes really great pictues. Also got some really great features :) Go feel 'em both.
This is the best presentation on the D90 I have seen on TH-cam. Also, I've seen some clips of commercials and short films shot with the D90,and they looked great. I have the D2x(still have the F3..I just like the sound of that motor drive..lol) The D90 is becoming a hit for low budget indie film makers,with it's 24p. Don't know if it's true or but some believe Nikon will provide a connection on the next generation D90 for an external LCD monitor. Film makers would love that.
yes, buy the D90 over the D5000. Both are almost identical except for a few things. But the main thing is the camera size. The D90's grip is larger which is more comfortable to hold in your hand.
Hi, great explanation and thanks for that. I want to by D90 but I am worry is it to late for that camera because now i almost end of 2010? I am not professional photographer but I know just enough I believe. I am traveling a lot around the world and I have a lot of pictures with my Canon 880is. Is there something newer? Thanks, Sinisa
I really need help on choosing a camera. Im choosing either the nikon d90 and the canon t1i. I like the D90 for its image quality and the T1i for its video quality. I really need help. thanks
My canon and my friends nikon are both beginner dslr compeditors, but with the nikons new live view and 720p video, if the 50d does not have that then I would get d90, but if it does, get canon, they are easier to use still with many functions and have better noise control than nikon I think. But get what ever suites you best.
Why do you think it's better? I've got both of them, functionality is more or less the same, the main difference is in size. As for me D90 has perfect size for DSLR. Big enough for comfortable grip, but not bulky at all. as for rotating display - haven't ever used it
@vladilarabie10 But at the stores i go to like walmart because they sell the d90 cheaper but online. They dont sell the T1i and D90 at the store itself and thats the problem.
@Kuraiyo Well I want a camera that i will use mostly for its image and video. But i guess what your saying might be telling me something. Ill just keep thinking. Thanks for your advice :D
@Russz0rz yea i found how i had to be on manual lol thx ^^...also iv got another question...sometimes with the manual the light or more like the color goes dark all of a sudden?? i dont think i changed annything to make it like that tho
i bought the d90 back in sept 2011, i'm loving it just wish it came with the 18-105mm lens instead it came with the 18-55 mm lens. does anyone know if it's possible to save your manual settings?
I've been thinking about getting a d5000 or a d60 now but I can't decide which one I would get! Any suggestions? -thanks! Btw nice review about the d90! 5/5
@Miketamine Just thought I'd voice the fact that it is alot more practical for a person like me who takes photos of horses at events but also needs to video parts of it for friends would actually find it very beneficial to have both photo and video at the same time, not all of us want to lug two cameras around :D
Hi, Im 10 and my 11th birthday is coming up and i wont a nice but cheap dslr with hd video like this one on video. If any suggestions please can u reply?
Hi i have a BIG problem which i donno how to solve by myself..so i want to access to the white balance setting BUT ITS LOCKED! saying i cannot use it with the current settings...how to i unlock it?
Im in the same boat as you, but leaning more towards the D90. I dont really care for Video, more into still photography myself. Plus unless you're printing out posters 24 Megapixels is kind of useless. Plus they always say you get what you pay for, The D90 is 4 years old and is still $200 more than the brand new 3200
güzel tamam da video kalitesi niye 360 P video d90 la çekilmedi mi çekilmediyse niye çekilmedi... (ingilizceye çevirmek için vaktimi harcayamam üzgünüm.
say what you want about the D90 video but it's awesome... And people... the D90 is a supreme upgrade in Still shooting alone to the D80 so the video is just a bonus feature!
@somarriba All DSLRs with video are time limited per continuous take. Besides, that is not an issue at all. Only real amateurs make viewers sit through a continuous shots of 20-30 minutes. No scene seen on TV or movies is that long before a cut or change of perspective. If you really really need to shoot continuously for an hour get a camcorder, that is what is made for. Or drop the shot and start another immediately.
@sendhelpbaylon Yep, I've had it for about a year now :] It's lovely. But now I am saving up for an FX camera since most of my lenses are prime ones @_@ MEHHH. Still, it is amazing, no gripes. It takes the pictures I want it to take and has enough customization for me. :]
I need help iam new with this Camara Nikon D90 and what I need is to know why wen I take a picture and I want to look at the picture is Stars blinking like black parts and I don't know why coz wen I throw an other places they look great so please if you can help il be great. Thank you.
Hands down the Nikon D90 is the best camera for Pro and amateur photographers, you can spend more for higher end cameras but why?? Get this, do it now, you'll never regret it. Stay on top, D90
d300 is actually a much more professional camera. the bigger clickier body is also alloy and tough. much more durable to weather and drops. plus it's up to 9 fps rather than the d90's 4.5. I'd say the main thing of the D90 over the D300 is video capability.
I can understand that but the D80 really ONLY does 720 and at a rather poor quality. Even if I set my Finepix to 720p the quality is much better than what comes out of the D90. A friend of mine has the D90 and we have tasted that.
@TheIQcumber hello my friend, do you know what is a noise in sound? unwanted sounds. the same with goes with images, unwanted color information or brightness. i call them - colourful dots, look at this pic upload.wikimedia.o r g/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/87/Highimgnoise.jpg/350px-Highimgnoise.jpg
The D90 is a great camera (having one for 3 days now), however I'd better like a video with less adjectives, as more facts and less sales are the key to a good review.

you will dig it , for sure! Just spent 3 months shooting with it. And the video was pretty darn cool too. First movie out was perfect color and sound.
Quintinlicious you cant go wrong with any of them. Go to the store and try them both , I personally have a D90 and really like it.
I'm only 16 but i realized my passion is photography. I have the d3000, but now i'm saving up for this :)
@man0204 it depends on your purpose ! in my opinion, get Ni 85 f1.8 = portrait / Tokina 11-16 f2.8 = landscape / Sigma 150 f2.8 = macro / Ni 35 f1.8 = indoor lowlight ^^

Currently shooting with a Coolpix L120, definitely looking into this upgrade for sure!
i love it how much is it?? i have a nikon D60 but i want a really good good camera
ha i wish i could afford digital, i use film, but for how cheap you can get it for, its sstill pretty awesome
Excellent video!
yes, buy the D90 over the D5000. Both are almost identical except for a few things. But the main thing is the camera size. The D90's grip is larger which is more comfortable to hold in your hand.
Finally a D90 review I can appreciate. Thanks for showing a review with information that I can use. Im getting my D90 this afternoon..
I'm in the same boat,
Take a look at the canon XSI, or the D60.
Those are extremely good entry level DSLR cameras that aren't watered down.
@Russz0rz yea true but then with the longer shutter the pics are blurry...but well i guess ill juts have to get use to it :) thank you tho..again :)
Hi, great explanation and thanks for that. I want to by D90 but I am worry is it to late for that camera because now i almost end of 2010? Interesting review, I'm a Canon photographer myself but some things about the Nikon are appealing.
I really need help on choosing a camera. Im choosing either the nikon d90 and the canon t1i. I like the D90 for its image quality and the T1i for its video quality. I really need help. thanks
I loved my D90 but recently i just upgraded to the D300 another great camera

Just purchased one online today... Truly...
I want to get a nice camera and am stuck between the D90 and the Rebel T2i. Video recording is just a bonus as I really won't use it. Thanks
I wanted this camera for years, but then by the time I saved up, I was more into videography, so i bought the 7D. But the D90 is an amazing camera.
Why do you think it's better? I've got both of them, functionality is more or less the same, the main difference is in size. As for me D90 has perfect size for DSLR. Big enough for comfortable grip, but not bulky at all.

@trevorskates94 Yes! :D A lot of my photos on flickr are with my d90. It's /raymoose
@Russz0rz yea i found how i had to be on manual lol thx ^^...also iv got another question...sometimes with the manual the light or more like the color goes dark all of a sudden?? i dont think i changed annything to make it like that tho
It's 2019 and it's still on par with 500+$ DSLR Cameras with the right lenses.
I bought this camera just now and I'm surprised with the results
i want this d90...but i will buy it body...and i'm thinking of buying a good lense...so do you have eny advice for a good lense?
SOLD! Im getting one in the next couple of days... CAN'T WAIT!
i bought the d90 back in sept 2011, i'm loving it just wish it came with the 18-105mm lens instead it came with the 18-55 mm lens. does anyone know if it's possible to save your manual settings?
Gracias a sus explicaciones ya comprendí el modo de uso de la cámara de mi papá.
First i wanted to get a Canon EOS 1000D, and then i found this miracle, and I'm getting it!
I've been thinking about getting a d5000 or a d60 now but I can't decide which one I would get! Any suggestions? -thanks! Btw nice review about the d90! 5/5
All right, I'll be waiting for that.
@Miketamine Just thought I'd voice the fact that it is alot more practical for a person like me who takes photos of horses at events but also needs to video parts of it for friends would actually find it very beneficial to have both photo and video at the same time, not all of us want to lug two cameras around :D
@damstr then the D90 should be an easy choice!
The T2i is just an entry level Dslr.
This is between Entry level and semi-professional.
When you do shutter speed the pictures come out blurry is there anyway to fix that ?
is the video length limit PER TAKE/SHOT or is that the MAXIMUM total? even if i have a 16gb card?
@shouldyray you got it yet?
You've got a great Mom! Be good to her.
Hi, Im 10 and my 11th birthday is coming up and i wont a nice but cheap dslr with hd video like this one on video. If any suggestions please can u reply?

Im in the same boat as you, but leaning more towards the D90. I dont really care for Video, more into still photography myself. @epecholdas ah., so Nikon D90 is much better? :)
porque no lo poneis en castellano o català ? estamos creo que en Espanya ,
who is the better d90 or d7000 for modling
güzel tamam da video kalitesi niye 360 P video d90 la çekilmedi mi çekilmediyse niye çekilmedi...
(ingilizceye çevirmek için vaktimi harcayamam üzgünüm.
@Ungliebtx I thought it was pronounced Ni-Kon (the ways its written)
@eireannsg this is the first dslr EVER that can shoot movies and its made in 2008. Check some things before writing comments.
Now I got the Nikon D800 and at still does only 1080p. :) same as my finepix
say what you want about the D90 video but it's awesome...
And people... the D90 is a supreme upgrade in Still shooting alone to the D80 so the video is just a bonus feature!
com'on, Nikon are warrior cameras, you will never have problems whit nikon

I need help iam new with this Camara Nikon D90 and what I need is to know why wen I take a picture and I want to look at the picture is Stars blinking like black parts and I don't know why coz wen I throw an other places they look great so please if you can help il be great. Thank you.
the blinking is places you have over exposed.
@Jaaakeeeee good for you.
porque no lo poneis en castellano o català ?
Hands down the Nikon D90 is the best camera for Pro and amateur photographers, you can spend more for higher end cameras but why?? Get this, do it now, you'll never regret it. Stay on top, D90
I so wanna have this :( BADLY..
Where can I find that snap-on screen protector for my D90 and D7500?
Ebay for the D90 screen protecter and you wont get one for the D7500, best thing for it to sell it and buy a D7200
Nikon d90 or the d5100? I'm leading more towards the d90 lol
reminds me of the d40x
@trevorskates94 nikon fanboy would say d90, canon fanboy would say T2i
but to me, i would prefer D90 than T2i, im a canon user btw..
d90 may photo blur kaishe nikale
canon 50d or nikon d90?
I got it from Canada, much cheap what we find here in US
What about video?
d300 is actually a much more professional camera. the bigger clickier body is also alloy and tough. much more durable to weather and drops. plus it's up to 9 fps rather than the d90's 4.5. I'd say the main thing of the D90 over the D300 is video capability.
Nice video! Good job, thanks!
your finepix does 1080p but whith a 6X3 mm sensor.....sou beat it
D90 = AMAZING!!!!!
... i do have a d90?
@jasongane d3100 you dont need a d90
D90 or D3200?
down side only 5 min of hd vid :(
wish i would've gotten this instead of the d3000. :/ i love my d3000 but the d90 is sooo much better. i'm probably just gonna save up for the d300.
I think it's a 18-105 mm
@SkatZherKapiCat
both or nikon
i had err on my nikon d90 can u help me :(
Sorry I’m late how can I help you?
@somarriba + vid & audio compression quality is mediocre, annoying CMOS' rolling shutter effect...
I can understand that but the D80 really ONLY does 720 and at a rather poor quality. Even if I set my Finepix to 720p the quality is much better than what comes out of the D90. A friend of mine has the D90 and we have tasted that.
@karrymotter Haha and where Im from its just nick on
@TheIQcumber
hello my friend, do you know what is a noise in sound? unwanted sounds. the same with goes with images, unwanted color information or brightness. i call them - colourful dots, look at this pic upload.wikimedia.o r g/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/87/Highimgnoise.jpg/350px-Highimgnoise.jpg
Nikon or Canon?
really most useful
@12s0o very true. if a dslr needs to sport a hd recording to attract customers, there must be someth wrong with it ! and i dont trust nikon certainly.
The D90 is a great camera (having one for 3 days now), however I'd better like a video with less adjectives, as more facts and less sales are the key to a good review.
