    2009 Texans is Kyle Shanahan's first year coordinating an offense. Kubiak gave him the nod, not his dad like I (and probably everyone outside of Texans fans) thought... I was just looking at 2009 and surprised the Texans passing offense was so good at 8.2 YPA; with an avg run game at best. So I went looking for the exciting games of 09 Texans; thanks Bart.

      09 Matt Shaub led league in yards AND had a stellar 8.2 Yards Per Attempt. Kyle Shanahan's first year coordinating an Offense. His career didn't begin with his dad in Washington;(which I thought) it wasn't nepotism, getting jobs because daddy pulled strings; the guy knew his shit. Growing up watching the Shan/Kubiak Outside Zone offense certainly helped but he's thoroughly new school. McVay is from the same school.

      You must have noticed Kubiak Texans play action was deadly...Outside Zone blocking forces defenses to go the opposite direction of the QB's bootleg; giving him plenty of time for deep shots or, if penetration, the underneath TE or Back.

    • @WalterWhiteFootballSharing
      @WalterWhiteFootballSharing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      AND; 09 Texans had a shitty run game, compared with Arian foster years. It doesn't matter how good the run is, defenses have to play what they see. Proven 100 times; play action is not dependent on running it well. Look at the Patriots 07-2016; so so run at best. 2001-2003 they were avg at best running it, and play actioned their way to titles.

      Andre Johnson was bonkers good. Just never had another guy to take heat off of him, or a great QB to sling it to him.

    Interesting thing I noticed, this is one of the few (if not the only) games I’ve seen in which Peyton Manning was wearing one of those quarterback wristbands (some call them cheat sheets) on his left arm, the ones that have a mini play sheet attached to it. I wonder why he wore it for this game when he pretty much never used them in his career (although I seem to vaguely recall him wearing one during his rookie year but I could be wrong)

    • @xposed235
      @xposed235 ปีที่แล้ว

      crowd noise. those are numbers on that band. each number is assigned a signal making it easier to call a play from the sideline for when the crowd gets louder

If you'd watched the game, you'd know he was slicing up the saints despite four massive drops by garcon wayne and collie. They only had 4 drives that game other than the ones that ended with those potential first down/TD drops and the one where they ran 3 times to run out the clock. they scored 3 of those 4.

    It's so crazy; that the Shanahan Kubiak Offense is so hard to stop, yet besides Shanahan and Kubiak, few teams ran it. WHY has it taken over? Outside Zone blocking is sideways, so they can continue the fake run block without getting illegal downfield blocking penalties, from straight ahead power run play action. So its deadly on defenders; impossible to know until you see the QB booting out with the ball, as he always boots without it on actual Run plays.

    • @WalterWhiteFootballSharing
      @WalterWhiteFootballSharing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NFL Decision makers see the 2016 Falcons in a SB, 2018-2019 Niners, Titans, Rams nearly reach it, so they started hiring everyone, Stefanski, Arthur Smith, anyone working with McVay, etc. So basically, having a good defense which leads to postseason success is how an offensive school spreads. Its a copycat closed loop. Thank goodness for Andy Reid and Lamar Ravens or 2021 Season would be the same exact game same exact plays played 256 times. Like the old NFL used to be; what old men consider 'real football' Lets watch power and counter out of split backs called 25 times each by both teams times regardless of down and distance, for 0-3 yards per carry, then bounce a pass off the helmet of a slow white FB with a mustache. See, that's REAL football, not the pussy shit harder to stop way more people tune in to watch nowadays.
