I have a Finnish husband, and the advice I would give for dating a Finnish man is don’t be surprised if you’re the one to ask him on a date or to make the first move etc. 😄 Also to be aware of cultural differences in dating. I’m American, and I was a little bit offended when he didn’t pay for my meal on a date until I learned that’s not usually the custom in Finland where women are more equal, which I appreciate!

As a finnish man I can completely relate to many of these answers. My friends keep asking me why don't I ever date anyone but I just don't feel like I have met the right person. As someone who dated the first time at 25 and never had a boyfriend, and never ever regretted the wait, I can tell you with confidence: do your thing! You're not weird. You have a standard. You have a whole life ahead of you to meet people that are on that standard or better. Then you'll have really fulfilling experiences instead of meaningless drama. Take that time to know yourself, build your character, follow your aspirations, etc. There is nothing rushing you and there is no reason to be shy about it. And I agree meeting someone at unit, at an activity or a sport club/event is a nice option since there is already common ground to start from.

Ouchh, now I'm even more confused!! 😫I'm used to men who come forward and chase a lot... Even Finns were like that some years ago... but nowadays I'm sooo in love with one (40+), at first he began chasing me, but only fell for him many years later when we finally had a chat 😭 He acted flawlessly, even made me join his close group of friends (they quickly ran though, to leave us by ourselves!), then had a 1-on-1 encounter and without any pressure from me he said he had a long and terrible relationship and doesn't want anything anymore... Few months later, checked on him just to say hi. He shocked me with some veeery long, letter-like replies, sharing his plans, future dreams, fears, memories, along with asking questions about me. Super polite, always apologising for the smallest delay... then BOOM! He vanished... No mistake on my side, don't know what in the world happened... Im not too confident and I already feel I've done enough chasing him... But it's him I want! His friends are also pretty damn shocked that he's so stuck on being single for years...

I thinki teasing and being nice are two different things. Teasing is for example playfully joking or making fun of them. Being nice on the other hand is more about agreeing with everything and kind of ass-kissing.
Interesting! What is the border between being proactive and being agresive (bitchy)? Finnish men are quiet (in my opinion), not so warm and do a lot of smile at the beginning. They used to confuse looking for a topic of conversation when talking to me. That's weird I want to be proactive, i want to talk a lot even more. So, it's not just silent standing side by side without talking. I feel not comfortable. But as a woman grew up in Asian culture, i used to live with the values that it is the duty of a man to talk first, to be the most dominant one I am afraid if i am talking a lot, he will find me too agresive and unatractive. I dont want to look cheap chasing for a man. Finnish men are confusing. Need a lot of work to break the ice

Ouchh, now I'm even more confused!! 😫I'm used to men who come forward and chase a lot... Even Finns were like that some years ago... but nowadays I'm sooo in love with one (40+), at first he began chasing me, but only fell for him many years later when we finally had a chat 😭 He acted flawlessly, even made me join his close group of friends (they quickly ran though, to leave us by ourselves!), then had a 1-on-1 encounter and without any pressure from me he said he had a long and terrible relationship and doesn't want anything anymore... Few months later, checked on him just to say hi. He shocked me with some veeery long, letter-like replies, sharing his plans, future dreams, fears, memories, along with asking questions about me. Super polite, always apologising for the smallest delay... then BOOM! He vanished... No mistake on my side, don't know what in the world happened... Im not too confident and I already feel I've done enough chasing him... But it's him I want! His friends are also pretty damn shocked that he's so stuck on being single for years...
Sorry to hear that. Shit happens sometimes. It's better to move on a keep looking for a better one.

I thinki teasing and being nice are two different things. Teasing is for example playfully joking or making fun of them. Being nice on the other hand is more about agreeing with everything and kind of ass-kissing.

Finnish men are quiet (in my opinion), not so warm and do a lot of smile at the beginning. They used to confuse looking for a topic of conversation when talking to me. That's weird
I want to be proactive, i want to talk a lot even more. So, it's not just silent standing side by side without talking. I feel not comfortable. But as a woman grew up in Asian culture, i used to live with the values that it is the duty of a man to talk first, to be the most dominant one
I am afraid if i am talking a lot, he will find me too agresive and unatractive. I dont want to look cheap chasing for a man. Finnish men are confusing. Need a lot of work to break the ice
I'd say the difference is that a proactive person understands when they're crossing the line of being aggressive.
