MORE, MORE MORE!!! Could watch all day. Surprisingly, lots of mid fi brands like Denon, Sony, Marantz but who cares? The importance thing is that everyone uses music to enhance their life. Love these video’s!!!
Hi all. I'm Leonard. My equipment is shown at about 11:00. I should have double-checked my equipment listing when I submitted it. I ended up revising the list twice and e-mailing the revisions later so there's some missing equipment on the list. The speakers are KEF Q50, there is a Pioneer FX-700 mini AM/FM tuner, an Audio Limits Passive Preamplifer. Not shown was a Thorens TD-235 Turntable also with an Audio Technica AT-440ML cartridge, an OPPO 980H Universal CD/DVD player, and a dbx 200x switcher. A lot of the other systems are mouth-watering! I love the SOTA Sapphire turntable, McIntosh and Bryston amps and the Tannoy speakers. I think I need to upgrade!
Super cool Steve! Impressed by the sophistication of some of these setups. Schiit, Elac and others are doing an amazing job of enabling great sound for small budgets, and bringing people into the fold!
This video makes me feel so good because I know that I am not the only one that about 18 years old with a very high end system. I have a pair of rbh 641-se tower speakers with the rosewood veneer paired up with a pioneer vsx-52 elite!
Awesomeness all around here !!! Love seeing people enjoying the hobby and music. Thank you Steve for your positive approach in keeping the community alive with the excitement of enjoying audio. And to all you "know it all" trolls out there, get a clue and keep it to yourself, that is not the point of this broadcast. Thanks again Steve and "Keep on keeping on!"
Thanks for including my picture @Steve Guttenberg , lots of great real world systems out there and love to see them all . Keep up the great show looking forward to more videos .
15:25 - I found someone else who also has Thiel CS1.7 speakers. They were not a direct Jim Thiel development but they came from the design notebook of Jim Thiel and were finished by numerous other leading engineers - Tim Gladwin and Jason Cochrane of Warkwyn and Phil Bamberg of BESL. Later when the original FST tweeters became unavailable, Mark Mason redesigned the crossover to accommodate a SEAS H1212 (27TBFC/G) aluminum dome, keeping with Jim's use of aluminum diaphragms.
I see all these wonderful people with these fancy setups. I'm happy for them! Kinda jealous actually... Anyways, I wish to blow you away with my $20 speaker! It's simply a Dayton Audio DAEX25 exciter speaker glued onto the lightest piece plywood I could find at the hardware store. I hear that extruded polystyrene yields the best results but that stuff looks ugly! The sound that comes out of this speaker is hard to describe. It's like having a really good pair of in-ear monitors inside your brain, because there's no feeling of sound-stage. But you hear loads of detail, like more than some speakers which cost 10 times more (because the DAEX25 literally costs $20 a pair hahahaha). I feel like this is an audiophile's best kept secret, because the performance/$ is unbeatable (even by IEM/headphone standards).
@13;23 Those square panes, with the vertical lines, are absorption panels (minimizes reflections). That was not mentioned, but I feel it is part of the stereo system. They are from Vicoustic. Although they work, if you ever have an issue with them, forget about customer service. They have warranty issues with many people, and companies, including Microsoft.
To the gentleman with the Cerwin Vega VS-150's. I have a pair, and while efficient enough to get loud on my 12 watt HH Scott Stereomastet 200. I highly recommend you give them a lot more power. For these speakers to do what they do properly. They need lots of power. I was giving mine over 300 watts, and they needed more. I follow a gentleman on here (Rossi Audio is the channel name) that's an expert on all things Cerwin Vega. He recommends 600 watts for these, and a high damping factor to control the woofer. And I agree. Pro Audio amps are perfect for these (Carver, or Yamaha for instance), and not too pricey. They sound better the louder they get too. A receiver is considered a no, no by this gentleman, and every other CV fan I've talked with.
Seeing the pictures of other peoples equipment makes me realise how fortunate I am as I have a nice set up myself I always thought my system was pretty much run of the mill but now realise I do have some really nice equipment but it can always be better👍👍🇬🇧

Steve, This was cool! Loved seeing more regular gear that most folks own. I was was curious if I'm the only owner of now vintage enlightened audio designs gear (or I should say collector as I own a good size stack😀) from the 90's to the early 2000's when they were bought by tara labs and than disappeared? Maybe some digital stuff has gotten better but some of their older dac like the 7000 and 9000 series 3s are still competitive. With upgrades they can beat on modern dacs but you don't get resolution higher than red book. Even some of their pre/pro still stomp what is out their for receivers etc. Your limited to 5.1 and no hdmi. And that's just stock. Again upgrading these is more musical heaven 😀 they also made some fantastic amps in the power master series. I was just curious if anybody still has and uses this equipment that originated from Fairfield, iowa😀
Thanks man! I am enjoying it. Finally the long upgrade process is slowly ending and getting to the point where I can sit and enjoy the music. I'm still going to get a new dac soon but that's probably going to be my last thing until I get the new house built, get out of the rental house, and then get some room treatments for my new room. 😊
Good morning sir! Very off topic and I’m sure your extremely busy but are there future plans for a Technics SL 1500C review? It’s one of What hifi’s top turntables of the year, but I would love to know what the Audiophiliac thinks. Have a nice day!
Hey there, it's Andy @14:26. Please forgive the random pics on the walls. Lol I am currently living in a rental while we build a new house and those are pictures from my 6 and 8 year olds bedroom just to put something on that shelf. I know that some people make some comments about those things. 😁 Just in case you were wondering, I am using a primaluna dialogue premium preamp, primaluna dialogue premium hp amp to run the focal Electra 1038 be speakers. He didn't really mention those correctly. It's taken a while to get all of this put together and as soon as I get a new dac, I will be for quite a while. I'm going to try and get time to just enjoy the music.
Love your system, Andy. I almost bought your Marantz turntable years ago. The Primaluna amp and preamp are eye-catching. I have your Denon DRM-800 cassette deck plugged into my home theater in the living room. It's cam mechanism is so smooth and quiet.
I have bought or traded for everything used. I do really like the denon drm-800 cassette deck. I don't use it much but I think it's good enough for me when I want to play some old cassette that I might find at a goodwill for a quarter. 😁 I really like the Marantz tt15 turntable but I have thought about upgrading it to possibly a better clearaudio or vpi. I just don't know how much more money I will have to spend to really hear a big difference in sound. I have also thought about upgrading the denon dvd-2900 but I have the same thoughts on it as the turntable. I have compared the denon a/b with a Conrad Johnson dv2b tube cd player, Oppo bd103d, and an adcom gcd-750 cd player and I liked the denons sound better than those others. The denon was supposedly upgraded with better quality components and wiring along with having balanced outputs added to it. I don't know everything about it since I got it used too but I like the sound of it. I think that I am more interested in getting a different turntable and cd player just for aesthetics which is a stupid reason but still makes me want to. Lol I bet I'm not the only one who looks at equipment for some of the cosmetics. 😊
@@andylockwood1735 Most of what I have is also used. It's funny you should mention you mentioned Goodwill because that's where I actually found my Denon DRM-800. I bought it for $19 in perfect condition. The recording quality is quite good. You'd be surprised how close to an original LP or CD it could sound. In my humble opinion, you might be shocked if you compare your Marantz TT15 to a Clearaudio (what the Marantz is mostly made by) or VPI. I used to have a Music Hall (Pro-Ject sourced) MM-F5 turntable I bought new because I was seduced by its glass platter but found its sound too laid back (subdued) on transients like percussion. Swapping out the included Goldring GX1012 cartridge for an Audio Technica AT-440ML restored some attack (transients seemed to start and stop faster...like real percussion) but even then, it wasn't entirely convincing. Eventually, I bought a cheaper Thorens TD-235 turntable (based partially on traditional Dual parts, particularly the 5.5 gram low-mass tonearm) and used an identical AT-440ML cartridge on it to compare side by side. The low-end was much deeper and the transients were much quicker; large yet agile (an unlikely combination). I sold the Music Hall. Admittedly, the Music Hall MMF-F5 enjoys a higher status than the Thorens TD-235 but my own experience tells me that higher price doesn't always guarantee a higher subjective performance. Your Denon DVD-2900 is a great player. It's very easy to be seduced by aesthetics but you might regret that later. If you need to by a better-looking turntable or CD player, you'd probably want to keep your Marantz TT15 and Denon DVD-2900 in storage just as a back-up in case regret sets in. I found myself in the same situation several times already. My Thorens TD-235 turntable wasn't shown in my system because it was in the closet. The Dual CS-1268 turntable shown in my portion of the video (beginning at 10:59) is dated and ugly but I use it because it sounds a lot like the Thorens yet its spindle is removable so I can re-center records that are off-centered (most records are off-centered) to reduce any audible wow before recording or digitizing. Once I'm done, I bring out Thorens and store the Dual. Okay, I dribbled enough.
Seems like a lot of american gear we don't have in Europe. But we do have wilson, Zu and Snell speakers. I would love to hear them some day. Don't know about how they sound. I like 'english' sounding speakers. My gear: Tag Mclaren(English) Pa20R preamp, two Tag Mclaren 125m monoblocks, Epos ES11 (English) speakers with original stands. Lenco L75 turntable (Swiss). Holfi Ellipse RIAA (Danish). All bought used. I spent a little over $1000 on this.

It's striking how many of these setups have the speakers in really sub-optimal locations - some are flat against the wall and many are within inches of the turntable.

@@scottyo64 No judgement - just an observation, really. I'm very lucky in that I can now bring my speakers out into the room, but it wasn't always that way.
This is my brain candy after work, but you've go to de clutter your pad. For example, keep three headphones and auction the rest with proceeds to a children's hospital.
For those who had their bookshelf speakers on a desk, nnnoooooooo! they need to be at least 6 inches off the surface to stop the sound coming off the desk, and into the sound that's coming from the speaker, that's why floorstanders have their drivers near the top, not the bottom! it'l open up the sound, and you can thank me later.

@@scottyo64 No judgement - just an observation, really. I'm very lucky in that I can now bring my speakers out into the room, but it wasn't always that way.
You realize the Illustrated submission was a tribute to you, right?
Cement room wow
We call it a basement.
Cement is a binder. Concrete is what you get when you mix it with aggregates.
Basically cement is glue, not a rock.
Franz Kafka 😍
With all the submissions maybe you should do a few more episodes
01:18 coolest system on the video.
Some cool gear ... what struck me was I noticed budget Behringer digital processer along side high end Manley analog EQ... quite the contrast.
You should do young audiophiles! Let’s see some college/ hand me down setups. Like the budget episode but specifically with younger viewers
Great idea, it's sure to piss off the old school geezers sticking to the old ways. Like me😄😉
good afternoon sir, how do you send pictures of my hifi system?, jorge de miami?
Hey steve. How do I submit photos?
Jake, when I announce a call for photos, which I do from time to time in the videos. I guess you missed those episodes.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Darn, I must have. Guess It's time to go back and watch them! 🙂 Thank you!
Love to see the little guy trippin on the audio stuff.
This is my brain candy after work, but you've go to de clutter your pad. For example, keep three headphones and auction the rest with proceeds to a children's hospital.
Really like these segments
13:23, off topic but what a beautiful and photogenic dog!
First comment! Finally, my name in print!
Your 15 minutes of fame ended 12 minutes ago
I haven't heard the name Akai since the 80s lol
For those who had their bookshelf speakers on a desk, nnnoooooooo!
they need to be at least 6 inches off the surface to stop the sound coming off the desk, and
into the sound that's coming from the speaker, that's why floorstanders have their drivers
near the top, not the bottom! it'l open up the sound, and you can thank me later.
Can i send my pic too? :)
Would a picture of myself standing in front of the door of a climate controlled storage facility work? I can give you a list of what's in there😄
OMG the first one only concrete no carpet, room improvements :(
personal sound preference
Heck yeah some very nice systems ! Its all about having fun , its crazy that i been into hifi for 31 years and just started a utube gig as a reviewer its a amazing time to be into hifi !! If you on a tight budget but want amazing diminishing return check me out ! Thanks for the shares everyone and Steve for the uploads !
Steve, what's in your audio system/systems!
No one had any Buchardt S400’s 😱
Gadgetdad I noticed that. I have the 300’s which I really enjoy.
