    The brushes, colours and paper used for this painting are listed below.
    🖌️BRUSHES:
    Princeton 1" Mop
    Silver Black Velvet no 2, and no 12 Round
    Princeton no 4 Stencil Brush
    Babara Rigger no 1
    Art Secret no 6 Point Pastel Blending Brush
    You can use alternative colours, although the effect might not always be the same, due to the different hues, and consistencies of the paints. To substitute colours, you usually need to make blends of other colours.
    When creating a pre-mix, use your discretion to add a little bit of pigment at a time, until you have the color mix you need. If you work wet-on-wet, your pigment ratios will be higher. With wet-on-dry, your mix should be more watery.
    🎨PAINTS:
    Cobalt Blue [W&N]
    Pre-mix:- Cobalt Blue [W&N] & Quinacridone Red [HWC]
    Dioxazine Violet (Winsor Violet) [W&N]
    Perylene Green [W&N]
    Davey's Grey [HWC]
    New Gamboge [W&N]
    Permanent White Gouache [W&N]
    Sennelier Masking Fluid

    The narrated instructions were so clear and helpful, and I really appreciated the thumbnail picture of the final artwork in the corner. It's so instructive to see what you're ultimately striving for, especially when you're first laying down the background colors.

    Excellent tutorial. Love the novel format of voice over and silent painter. Thank you. I might suggest the ringing bell cue would be better if replaced with a more subtle single ding as it is a bit much.

    Thanks for this video. Does your masking fluid leave a raised area where it’s applied? I seem to be pulling up my paper when I go to remove frisket.

    • @OurWatercolourJourney
      @OurWatercolourJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You are very welcome🌹It really depends on the quality of the paper. Masking fluid should not stay on the paper for longer than absolutely necessary, if it is on too long, it seems to 'soak' into the paper and becomes very difficult to remove. The quality of the masking fluid/frisket is also a factor. Apply only enough to cover the areas you want to preserve. If it is applied too thickly, it also becomes difficult to remove and would sometimes pull up some fibres from the paper. In some cases, people use a watery soap mix to dip the brush in...although that helps to preserve and clean the brush, too much water mixed with the fluid is not good. The fluid would just soak into the paper. Once you have removed the fluid, you will find that the paper looks and feels a bit different in that area, I guess it's because the sizing of the paper gets changed when you apply the fluid. I have found that the paint sometimes reacts differently in those areas. Furthermore, make sure that your paper is completely dry [the paint] before you remove the fluid, and preferably use a cement eraser...that should cause the least damage. You can learn more about masking fluid in this video on our channel. th-cam.com/video/4inznxqRdN8/w-d-xo.html

    I really enjoyed this and I do have a question> What did he use to apply the masking fluid?

    • @OurWatercolourJourney
      @OurWatercolourJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you🌹 Heinrich used the Art Secret Number 6 Silicone Pastel Blending Brush. Pastel blending brushes of all sizes can be very helpful, as they are easy to clean. However, you can also use an old paint brush. Wet the brush, rub it lightly on a bar of wet soap to coat the bristles, then dip it in the masking fluid. It helps to preserve the bristles and it makes it easier to clean. We sometimes use pastel brushes made from rubber, or plastic. These also work very well. I am not sure if they are available on Amazon, but I suppose there would be, as Amazon sells pastels. I know that there are brush brands that sell brushes specifically for masking fluid. Here where we live,, we have a brand called Herend that have those brushes. They are synthetic and work like a charm. I hope you find something that will be useful to you:)

      @@OurWatercolourJourney thank you so much for the info - I will definately check these out. Seems like a more civilized way to apply the masking fluid rather than using a poor old brush!

    • @OurWatercolourJourney
      @OurWatercolourJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      🤣😂it sure looks that way. It does take some getting used to, as the silicone is much stiffer than a bristle brush, but I love that one doesn't have hassles to clean it. if you remember, please let me know what you found and how it worked.🌹

      @@OurWatercolourJourney will do - am checking out amazon as we speak There is something like what he used but it is a set of 6 - flat edge, fan etc. not sure if I would use the whole set but I might. I will let you know what I end up with. Thanks for all your help!

      Always a pleasure. I have seen those with the silicone fan brush. You can actually do some very interesting things with that brush. It might be worth checking out. Enjoy!
