Freddie and the Boys were always on my Turntable, In fact last year I purchased an autographed Dreamer album with only Freddies autograph. Got it on the famous ebay.
Died at such a relatively early age. Was fortunate he was able to ride the wave where having decent songs and a gimmick would transcend the quality of the music. I’m sure he’d be the first to say he didn’t have a great voice and the band were no more than competent and because of that be grateful for the success he had.

bernie was my great uncle, he died as he lived, he had a huge party and the next day booked into a hospice, he just slipped away after being there for 2 hours! his funeral was planned and payed by him, a very happy event, on friday the 13th the date his godson had also been buried, he was one of the funniest most caring people ever, and he threw the best parties, RIP uncle bernie!!! we miss you lots, look after Ryann for me x

Sadly, nothing seems to have survived of this show, but it was a good children's show, and had a segment called Oliver In The Overworld, about the adventures of Freddie and his living Grandfather Clock in a strange, magic land, which we all loved - even Mum and Dad used to join us to watch that bit. I still have the album they released (and very good it is, too), and I recall an interview with Freddie many years ago in which he said that was one of his favourite things that he'd done.
Derek Quinn(1942-2020), 80, lead guitarist of Freddie & The Dreamers.. (the one with the dark shades) joined his bandmates, drummer Bernie Dwyer(1941-2002) and lead vocalist Freddie Garrity(1936-2006) (who looked like Buddy Holly) on stage in the Spirit World, following his battle with Covid-19.
Wow look at him in this video, Yeah, that's how I remember Freddy! He played The Pavillion in Bournemouth, must have been late 90's? I loved the show and when they finished I just rushed down to the stage to meet him, like you do.. anyway, I took with me a pair of red cheap plastic binoculars that were issued by the theatre and I went straight up to Freddy and said "Here, a present for you to thank you for the great show!" He laughed his head off and said to me, you knick them, didn't you?!!!
@@nicohatsoff yes they were the first act on and did 3 numbers because they needed to get to the airport, missed their flight anyway Fred having a medical issue on the ✈️ flight home, I have a video of that nights show. Where you in the band?
@@AndyDEFILLIPPO yes I was in the band for 6 years and that flight home to the UK was a nightmare with a night on the floor at JFK waiting for next available flight and then Freddie being ill on the plane. That was July 2000 and the band was finished completely by the end of the year with Freddie retiring due to pulmonery hyptertension and he sadly passed away in 2006.
One thing that I have noticed while listening to their recordings and seeing other vids on TH-cam is they were an incredibly TIGHT band, esp when they are doing their 'choreography' while performing such syncopated songs. They have to be very dedicated to their craft!
