The piano arrangements of Alexander Kandelaki

The presence of music at the Bauhaus was significant, ranging from jazz or the futurist avant-garde to music of the Classical era. Klee, who taught at the school from 1919 to 1933, was particularly interested in the music of the past such as this Bach “Chaconne”, which the painter-violinist often performed. Here, the work takes on a new form, as a result of the piano transcription made by Busoni, who visited the Bauhaus in 1923. That same year, Klee and Hindemith met for the first time: the artist, who maintained a good relationship with the composer, became interested in his reinterpretation of classical compositional principles.
