Gotham Knights bad amirght bois? Well yeah, that's fair given how the media treated this game. Can't blame anyone for not seeing it for what it actually is. Hope people give this video more of a chance than the game itself. And it gives you a new perspective. Hopefully, one that appreciates the game for how good it is

Gotham Knights makes you really feel like Spider-man
How is that possible
@@cooperscheider7197 You gotta play the game to see what I mean 😉
@paragonoftime I have played it but I don't get it 😅
exaggerated swagger
@paragonoftime preach 🙌🏻
The reason Gotham Knights isn't like Arkham is because it's not supposed to be.
I didn’t even know about the game until Gamepass. Not a major gamer. But it reminds me of Spiderman, Assassin’s Creed and Arkham games. It doesn’t do any of the three as well, but it does each at about 65%. But being three different AAA games and adding a co-op is amazing! If anyone had told me someone would’ve tried to pull that off, I would have called them insane.
Good take
I enjoy it
BIG ARKHAM FAN
Ppl needa enjoy it for what it is.... I got to play as Batman's 4 disciples
I got this game fairly recently, and I've been enjoying it, I wasn't expecting an Arkham game, I was expecting a game where you play as Red Hood in a open world and I got that, I do enjoy the crime system, and I like the crime scene investgation, kinda reminds me of a point and click, it's a fun game and I hope it gets a sequel someday or more content I wouldn't mind more of the Bat Family, btw good editing and you deserve more subs
Thanks man glad to see the game is getting more of an audience!
Wanna play together ?
One thing that I would like them to improve or fix is getting stuck on everything. It makes disarming things frustrating cause you waist time moving away from the wall to reposition yourself, so you can get the promt to push the A button.
Timed strikes are key to the combat, it gives you buffs and makes your combat speed fast and combo animations smooth
THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING
Yeah it seems most people skipped all the training and just mash x and b with no thought, I think the combat feels really really good and is a nice natural progression of the Arkham series combat
Who tf wants to take there time building up a combo by doing timed strikes the game is just bad no 60 frames the traverse is dogshit gameplay feels sluggish or slow plus nobody plays this online anymore your defending a bad game that has so many issues your trying your hardest to see the game for what it is even tho it’s garbage
Whole game is clucnky
You can say aspects of it are but that’s not the only thing the game has to offer
@@berice4390 cap
I absolutely loved Gotham Knights it got unnecessary hate. I want a sequel in the future.
It got hate because people expected arkham combat, not what basically was button mashing with no finesse.
This is why you can’t really read too much into initial reviews until you actually try the product. I just downloaded from gamepass and I was like, why did people shit on this game.
@@procreation100 Because they were expecting something with more depth like arkham, not basically the Marvel Avengers game.
I loved Gotham knights to
@@tyleroutland435 I want them to really push the concept of those Talon suits and become the Court of Bats.
The thing is the enemies are smarter. Like when when choosing a buff ability they will use that moment to punish you. And like a talon will attack you and the bystanders will throw their spike things at the same time. And the buff enemies always seem to know when to intervene when tryna take out the little guys. But this is on hardest mode and high levels.
I see where people are coming from criticizing the game because the game does have issues but it is absolutely unfair to compare it to Arkham. It is a completely different game experience. I really enjoyed Gotham Knights, some minor frustrations aside. I think it is a misunderstood game and is waaaay better than what most people say about it
Yep pretty much this video. Appreciate you sharing your opinions in a constructive manner.
30 fps no fov slider on console, no lock on. The game had MASSIVE potential and blew it 😂
Can name plenty of other games like that that are praised lacking such features. Fair enough to you for being disappointed but at least judge it for what it is.
As that’s what I do here. 😗
@@berice4390 I gave it a honest try as a was highly anticipating this game. But it fell extremely short.
@@TonysGamingSpot that’s all you can do at the end of the day. Appreciate your honesty
Neither does Arkham Knight 🤷
Had the game since launch i still play it and ive played all of the arkham games but tbh this was good for what they were aiming for ive always wanted a batfamily game i think they only messed it up by making batman dead i feel by losing batman left out alot of villians we could've got there should've been more villains like deathstroke, wheres catwoman, azreal, glad they didnt put riddler tho 😂 but i honestly loved the game jason finally getting some love and shine in the game and not just a dlc character that you can only play in challenges
Yeah pretty much agree this game wasn’t able to reach the heights it could’ve unfortunately but it does a lot on its own I can appreciate
I Love gotham knight,i think many of his problems came from at side the game,my problems with the anoiyng enemies and story feels like something that time for the devs and writers could fix, i really want a sequel for it and maybe a TMNT game base on this style, because i really think there is potencial there, just like gta 3, arkham asylum and AC 1 needed sequels the became perfect
Yeah something I wish I addressed was how the Arkham games had many years to evolve the formula. Gotham Knights not so much. I appreciate your comment!
the AC1 argument isn't really valid here because if you go deep enough with the games gameplay structure as well as mission design that correlates to the gameplay structure... you'll realise that AC2 was heavily streamlined and different compared to the foundation of the series in which NONE of the AC gamea came that far to replicating AC1s gameplay structure as well as tying it into the overall narrative and vice versa
and also AC2s story is horribly written... so that's a bonus plus
Many reviewers simply did not play the game. The fact that Luke didn’t think there were elemental weaknesses/resistances is crazy. This game also has a far superior crime system to Spider-Man. Biggest drawback for me was the 30FPS, which I feel the devs will be boosting to 60 in the near future
Yeah I've learned to live with the 30fps but playing more games it's certainly a whiplash playing them all and playing Gotham Knights
100% agree, I don’t really need the 60 though.
60 fps can look just too 'smooth' for certain games... its the same with movies... there's a reason why the maximum fps limit 60 for fighting games because of the fighting system itself...
i lool at games like Bloodborne and i feel the same way... with the 60 fps mod from consoles... the unique floating step dodge looked way too smooth compared to the default 30 fps step dodge where the Hunter is supposed to look like a speeding blur whereas 60 fps makes it seem like the Hunter isn't a blur but just floating around the environment
@@godzillazfrictionalso the human eye can properly see 30fps devs makes animations in 30fps. I make mention of it here but it’s not that easy to make games on consoles with 60fps. Definitely very complex and subjective topic and may find a opportunity to delve into it further later down the line
A 60 fps patch for this game is like using a defibrillator on a week old dead body.😂
The game came out at an unfortunate time, when superhero games (Arkham aside) were basically vehicles for in game stores. I loved the game when I played it first time round and still enjoy dipping in now and again today.
One thing I wish I touched on was the lack of proper marketing this game had. People made they’re own assumptions based on Arkham and the game suffered for it. Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying it
It's compared to the Arkham game because it's an open-world batman-esque action RPG made by the same studio that made one of the Arkham games.
You can compare it in some regards but as you mention it’s a RPG, and I’ve said not single player. Like Arkham. Those who’ve actually played the game should know any comparisons to Arkham are next to non existent. The game should be judged on its own merits not how it compares in the things I breakdown in this video.
@@berice4390 I played through the whole game in coop. I thought it still had an Arkham feel to it. You navigate the world with a grapnel hook (if you're playing Batgirl you even use the same cape glide), there is an underlying detective theme, the stealth is similar in design though much more stripped down than in the Arkham games, the gameplay loop of beat up and interrogate low level criminals to work your way towards their supervillain boss is similar. Consider this game was the exact same but was an entirely new IP. It would still draw comparisons to the Arkham games. I'm not saying there are zero differences but you asked why are we comparing Gotham knights to the Arkham games. I feel like it's a pretty fair comparison to make.
@berettabeast9016 true you can find inspirations sure. But you can tell the design philosophy is not like the Arkham games I can do this in Arkham and that in Arkham but I cannot engage with those things the same as I can in Gotham Knights. I think because of that alone should make one think “yeah I can do this in both games” but it’s the how and why that really matters. Why would combat be a free flow combat in a single player game…? That wouldn’t translate that well in a multiplayer setting. The comparisons drawn are really really surface level granted there is some that can be made.
@@berice4390that is still no excuse for its state. It is a next gen console they could have done more. The fact that the previous Batman game in terms of quality still out shines this one shows no improvement.
Masterpiece video 🔥
Master class comment
I would love for Batman to become playable in Gotham knights but I have thought of alternatives like for example maybe Batman could come in if you reach low health and helps you take down the remaining criminals, then gives you advice on how to do better in a similar situation. Like for example say you are trying to take out an unarmed thug and your not paying attention and you get shot from behind by an armed guy. If it takes you down to flashing read health a swarm of bat's envelopes the area and the criminals all get freaked out and you and Batman take down all the goons. 😅 Think that'd be awesome. Then Batman scolds you and gives you advice on how to better handle the situation you were in with facing an unarmed foe but get blitzed by a gunman.
Batman beyond needs to have its own Archambault style trilogy
I made Gotham Knights a Robin game 😅
Played as the other characters a little bit, but Robin is my main XD
Spent 30 hours playing and it's a mediocre game that took away most of what made Arkham great 🤷🏻♂️
I mean you’re valid for thinking it’s mediocre. But as I said and proved. This game isn’t Arkham it’s built in a different framework. Arkham is a single player experience while Gotham can be played co-op. You cannot make a Arkham game the way Gotham knights was made. That being said I go into what about the systems people may have missed. Or overlooked. Mainly overlooked because people try and play it like Arkham. Hope this video gives you a new perspective on things. If not well I appreciate you trying it out 🤷🏾♂️
The gliding system should've been added from the beginning with added upgrades throughout. Most pf the complaints came from the movement system the combat is very clunky. The investigative system while intriguing is honestly kinda bad they could've done more. It's compared to Arkham because a lot of the game is similar to arkham the stealth is terrible and useless. You can't use it to do really anything so the stealth upgrades are useless yes the training exists but the gear score and lack of ability to mitigate damage makes combat a slog. The grinding aspect is the worst partb and it's boring you rinse and repeat. There's no comparison with odyssey as personally someone who loved odyssey it's not repetitive. And the abilities are more satisfying your attacks feel like you do damage as well as there's just a ton more content and rpg elements. Gotham knights is not a rpg or virtually has no comparison to odyssey outside maybe the way gear works 😊
Movement definitely is the weakest link of the game I don’t disagree. However the gear does infact mitigate damage. Early game it may not be apparent but characters like batgirl have abilities that does this. Momentum abilities are ways to counter attacks when used properly as it’s tutorialized. Gotham Knights is a RPG not entirely the same sense as odyssey but the same mindset one has for odyssey can be applied. In terms of its progression and gear system but yeah that’s it. Stealth can be argued it’s lacking but so is odysssey and marvels Spider-Man. I do think Gotham knights pushes for more meaningful stealth but it doesn’t compare to Arkham but I don’t expect it to
I've gotten Gotham Knights thanks to in being added to gamepass a bit ago, and I'll be honest - I'm genuinely having fun playing it. Sure, some things may seem repetitive at times, and yet... at the same time it doesn't? Well, at least not all the time. It's kinda weird to explain.
However, being able to complete the story of the game in co-op with a friend is such a treat. Maybe this game had issues at launch, but we've gotta give credit where it's due. Gotham Knights is fun
Makes me so happy to see the audience for his game grow. Who do you main?
@berice4390 Considering I've started a bit ago, I'm trying out a bit of everything. I started with Batgirl, and kinda went through all the characters one by one, unlocking all Knighthoods. Honestly, I don't know how or why but all of them are really fun to play, especially Nightwing and Robin, as of now. As much as I wanted to focus more on Batgirl and semi-main her, she feels a little bit underwhelming at the moment. Maybe that's going to change later on though, who knows ^^
@@VelvetHexUwU great thing about these sort of things everyone has a differing experience. As a batgirl main myself I’ll say stick with her for a while as she has some cool stuff in her utility belt.
I also like this game , i just didn’t compare it with batman arkham series 😎
Great write up, every point i agree with. I feel like its gonna be one of those games that once people stop making comparisons they can see it for what it really is. Not perfect at all but pretty solid, they just gotta stop riding arkham so hard lol
Thanks man I agree not perfect but definitely deserves to be appreciated more than what people acknowledged
28:10 I'm getting the Arkham trilogy for Halloween. It's on sale for 6 bucks. Not passing that up. I do want to check this one out. I'm not into Insomniacs Spider-Man. It's not Spider-Man anymore. It's just a Spider-Man product. This game actually continued the Arkham story and took a lot of stuff from the comics and animated series. That's my childhood, and it seems like they had enough respect for the fan base by not baiting us with pointless advertising about web swinging and being able to finally wear the symbiote. Yeah, I'm salty about the Spiderverse. What of it? 😝
Preface this to say that Gotham Knights is it’s own separate universe.
@berice4390 It's still worth checking out. It looks pretty good.
@@gamervet4760 yeah it is I think so at least
The game sucks that's the bottom line
I’m sorry that after watching my video you came to that conclusion
If this game gets some DLC one thing that I am curious about is the Knights relationship with Batman. Being able to explore Gotham in the shadow of Batman in contrast to in the absence of Batman. Maybe explore events leading up to Batman's death at the start of the game. What were Tim, Barbra, Dick, and Jason doing out in the city while Batman was in the Batcave?
There’s plenty of that if you played the other characters you learn about who they are and there personal relationships with them. That’s why I recommend playing as them and at least learning their stories. Lots you can learn.
I say Gotham knights were pretty good but this could be something they can start for like the small heroes like Robin all of them bad girl back woman Green arrow like what went down during this event of Gotham Knight because if you look up the Easter eggs they mention all of them they actually extended the DC universe something that the Arkham trilogy really didn't do much now for the Arkham trilogy here's my opinion they should do a Superman game during the Arkham trilogy they said suicide squad took place after Arkham we saw Superman on the trailer so he asked me he exists in the Arkham universe and that was rumors saying they're going to make a Superman game that will be cool to take place during the Arkham universe but I will keep Gotham nights for like the small heroes like I said so Gotham Knight was a pretty good idea it's also a gives Robin Nightwing red hood and Batgirl and the spotlight and also they can put more people than future games like green arrow batwoman The flash cyborg
Yeah more games to explore different heroes I dig
I agree. I really feel the reviewers did this game dirty. I think they think its a bad gane because they kept comparing it to thr Batman: Akrham games. While sure, the gameplay of those games really differ, Gotham Knights have its own charm. I am honestly enjoying it a lot. Sure, i was overloaded with information at the start but after a while, I am loving it and havign tons of fun. I agree with what you said about the crimes here. Its dynamic and it keeps things fresh. No hate for Spider-man but the car chase sequence and the crimes there tend to be the same. Here, every night is different and there are consequences if i fail. Im really enjoying it a lot!
3:42 I think those might be X-Men Legends and Ultimate Alliance fans. Those games are still really fun to play. Puts Diablo 3 and 4 to shame even though they're older games.
People are allowed their own opinions.
With that being said, the people who criticize this game are the same people who hate Arkham Origins, which doesn’t make sense because that game is awesome!
Let’s be honest, the ONLY reason they criticize these games is because they are both made by WB Games Montreal instead of Rocksteady.
True people are valid in they’re opinion however the reviewers I refer in this video say things that are actually wrong about the game. In terms of combat. And gear systems. My issue stems from the fact these reviewers do this for a job yet don’t take the time to understand the thing they’re working on and making a essay about. And in turn people will watch these and say the game is bad. That’s what I find wrong.
Biggest thing I noticed was this games not fun after a couple of hours and learning the mechanics you get bored.
What’s the extent of the mechanics you’ve learned?
I love this game! I think it's awesome, i hadn't played the Arkham games yet when I first played gotham knights and I genuinely enjoy this game, after playing the arkham games I still really enjoy gotham knights. I wish it would get more love.
Honestly love that the game still holds up for you! I wish it got more love as well. I enjoy the Arkham Games and Gotham Knights for very different reasons
They are both great games, and too many people are comparing gotham knights to Arkham Knight, and they are both very different games.
This game has potential, but without a major overhaul update its not worth it, much better for your buck to get all 4 arkham games instead.
Debatable so debatable I made a whole video about it
The problem is that it was released half baked. This is the problem as a whole with the gaming indistry in general. Its the industry standard now to just release a game unfinished because they can apply updates and patches later... this is unacceptable. Especially when alot of games are charging more and more.. which isnt inflation so dont believe that bs. I didnt grow up with a lot of money. So if i spoil myself a little and spend money on something i expect a certain quality out of what i buy. As consumers we allow the gaming industry to pull this shit by pre-purchasing and buying into products to early, allowing the industry to continue to with the money hungry schemes and the rushing of products to be released at a certain time.. instead of releasing the best product they can at launch. Cyber punk, fallout 76, gotham knights... but theyre ok a year later so its ok... no.. no its not
Don’t think the issues with Gotham Knights and why reviewers were wrong about the game has anything to do with it being unfinished
@berice4390 Look every review isnt gonna be a resonable review. But you cant tell me that im wrong about how games are being released. Everybody has there own opinion. And ok then, its probably that the game doesnt offer much for replay ability. Sure theres four characters to play through... cool. Problem is that once you beat the main story its a ridiculous grind of repetitive fights that just arent that fun after a while. Youre aloud to think the games good and other people are aloud to think its shit. The point i was making was that yeah, if a games released in a state such as gotham knights and other games are then dont be suprised when it catches a bunch of shit. Youre gonna have people that bitch about dumb shit but that doesnt mean that every single person is necessarily wrong. You make the pint that the issues with the game and reviews dont have anything to do with it being unfinished. Well yeah if a games released in a state like that then yes people arent going to be happy. And you just said the game has issues... another reason why the game caught shit. So your argument is that yes the game was released unfinished and yes the game had issues but people are wrong because of that. Ok.then its probably the other stuff i mentioned.
@@SkorDie-id9qf did you play the game?
@berice4390 yes i beat the game and played it for a little after i beat it. Was working towards the harder boss fights that you do and just realized that grind to get better to be able to handle those fights just wasnt fun. Tried out every character as well
@@SkorDie-id9qf what boss fights? The villain ones? Heroic assault?
I respect everyone's opinion and if you enjoy the game good for you, but Gotham Knights is so fucking trash I can't help but say it everytime it comes up. Of the hundreds and hundreds of games I've played in my lifetime I can count on 1 hand the amount of games I've actually hated, and this game is one of them.
Genuinely am curious why you hate it if you can entertain me as I tried my best to address all of that in this video
@@berice4390 It's just so lifeless and boring, and I find the combat extremely stale. It's not about not understanding it it's just not satisfying to do so.
@@educatedduck6618 examples?
@@berice4390 It's just the intangible side of video games. At the end of the day its all opinion, but for me when I played the game there is just nothing pulling me into the characters or what they're feeling. For example, when I play GOW or Ghost of Tsushima, the characters feel real, whether it be due to voice acting, writing, or whatever the case. This game I don't feel that, at all, and I did with the Arkham series, but don't here. The combat being boring again is just opinion, but just because the combat has many things to understand and be good at doesn't make it better. There's a balance, and Arkhams balance was in that simplicity and how satisfying it was. Some would disagree, but that's how I feel. It's like comparing Fast and Furious to Shawshank redemption. Sure, F&F sucks but I still enjoy watching them for fun, and some people may love them, but there really is no argument that it's objectively anywhere near as good as Shawshank redemption. Opinion at hand, I really just hate Gotham Knigths and didn't find a single redeeming factor, whereas with something like Dying Light 2, I was disappointed and felt it was way worse than DL1, but still could enjoy it. And opinions not at hand, I still just can't see the tangible argument that Gotham Knights is well made in pretty much any aspect. But I definitely don't mind if someone enjoys it, as long as you have fun that's all that matters. I've enjoyed games that other people hated before, so I get it.
@@educatedduck6618 nah you cooked with the explanation. I wish I highlighted the lack of a proper narrative focus in this game myself. In my opinion I do not think expecting the same level of emotional depth in a game where you can play as four characters to where you have 1-2 playable ones is possible and is where these devs were shot in the foot. They had the little small side mission’s but yeah it is there but no ghost or god of war yes.
I like Odyssey. Here’s the thing. Have any of you ever read a fucking book?
What
Just downloaded it and I felt lied to by so many reviewers. Maybe the state of the game changed a lot. Maybe they were on a clickbait-negativity bandwagon. I don't know. But I'm really having so much fun playing this with my girlfriend. We're both loving it and agree that so far it's an 8/10 for both of us.
Yeah my video covers a lot of the misconceptions this game received. Due to people not understanding the game and it’s systems. Glad you’re making such a connection from what the game has to offer! Appreciate you checking the video out
The game is okay. However, there are so many glitches and bugs

I really appreciate how deliberately well thought out this video is. You make excellent, valid points that employ an understanding of how the game functions beneath the surface. Much of this was distinctly lacking from many other impressions and/or reviews. You showcase and speak with logic based facts greatly here.
Well done.
@@BCblue27 thank you. Really glad you felt that shine here. You saying that really means a lot!
Love this game tbh! Specifically for what it does differently from the Arkham games
Exactly what it needed to do. It's nice to see so people engage appreciate it.
@berice4390 I'm just happy to see someone who likes the game for what it is, and is critical of it, but not so unfair as to compare it to a game that was built for a different purpose
I uninstalled this game because i didn't liked. I reinstalled it again and gave it a second chance. The combat is so stiff and slow almost not that fun. I like how you can change your cowl, symbol, boots, and gloves, i liked some of the outfits, i liked the characters, the graphics, and i kinda dig the story. It's not all that good but it's not all that bad like people say it is, it could've been worse. I think the game is alright.
I do want to make a video dedicated to the combat I hope it’ll help you if you decide to stick around. If not appreciate you’re engagement and giving the game a shot.
@@berice4390 I completed it. Sure the combat is a bit slow but I think the special moves kinda makes up for it though I do like playing stealthy but I get annoyed when I get caught lol. People compare it to the Arkham series and act like Rocksteady made Gotham Knights or something which is silly to me. I do wish the combat was more fun and fast paced, if the studio is going to make another game or something I hope it improves. I might replay Arkham Knight too because of the Robert Pattinson Batman suit.
I hope Batman isn’t dead and returns in a DLC
Hate to tell ya he is dead 🥸
Man I am happy you responded to whitelight assasin dodge thing cuz I did not play the game and was really curious .
Is there a disxord server for the game combat ?

@@berice4390 alright
What I would love in Gotham knights is something like an arena mode, where you take on different enemy factions. I think it'd be nice if you could fight the league of shadows, or freezes gang, clayface goons and so on. 😊
Saw this but heroic assault pretty much provides that
Honestly it feels like it was made for multiplayer, playing with others feels better than alone
There’s different benefits to each play style heah
This sandbox game is lacking in so many ways -
1. lack of interactivity with npc
2. lack of mission types
3. very repetitive gameplay
4. does not have any real investigation mechanics
5. bad performance even now, more than a year after release
6. no real co-op experience or sense
7. heavy focused on melee combat but no other activities to do other than that
8. no world events
9. no special events
10. no dynamic day
ight cycle
i really wanted to love this game, i played it for 50+ hours but just couldn't get the right experience.
I understand these things are subjective. However Gotham Knights is not promoted as a sandbox game.
It’s a co-op RPG playing as the bat family so some of the things you desire will simply not be applicable. I don’t understand what you want from this game with that in mind. Things like day/night cycle make’s very little sense when these characters are known to be active at night.
When you say lack of interactivity what do you mean? As you can talk to NPC’s to get rewards and there’s a small narrative to help the city with a group of NPC’s lol
Also the crime variety is actually quite nice.
Bomb threats and organ trafficking promotes stealth.
Each crimes has other unique objectives and gets harder as you progress with the game
There’s car chases and other things. But yeah I understand desiring mission variety. Granted this games co-op is ambitions.
You can do team takedowns.
Interact with the world in a few different ways in co-op that no other game especially superhero has offered. I can complete side actives and crimes without the player there.A lot of things you desire simply won’t be available as the co-op is the most ambitious part of this game also if not in the main story co-op heroic assault offers that co-op itch you may desire especially given how different the heroes are
Bad performance is intriguing to me? You may be playing on PC or so on but I understand being turned off from this game if you’re experience is bad
Also there is races you can do and other ways you can interact with the world and it’s missions.
Like I did these things are subjective but the games design philosophy doesn’t seem to match what you wanted/expected of this game.
I went into this fully knowing that this wasn't going to be anything like an Arkham game and that the combat would feel very different but i think this game really missed the mark with quality. I really tried to give this game a go but having to spend multiple hours on each character just to get their unique traversal tools was just stupid once i had gotten those tools i was so burnt out on the game i couldn't play through any more of it. I think this game has good elements in it but they really didnt put it all together well enough for me to even finish the story. And whats even worse is i got the game code for free because i worked at a game store. I didnt even pay for it and i felt like i was ripped off now thats bad.
Having said all that seeing as I have the game in my library maybe there are some updates that have made it feel better and i may go back to it some day. But I should probably do it before Spider-Man 2 comes out because going to GKs after would probably make me hate it more 😅
I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I agree a lot of things the game does isn’t presented the best and can be frustrating to manage. I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do. I just blame people for disregarding a lot of things the game does entirely.
Yep they should've given you the base traversal and then knighthood line can improve speed and add new abilities etc. I just started the game a day or so ago first thing that felt off is that. like why do I have to unlock the option to sprint essentially lol and it's not one thing it's a few white trying to learn to navigate it still looks good runs good so far no issues there I just see that as the first speed bump in my playthrough not a massive deal but if you did not know it and missed that it could drastically change your opinion on the game for sure
@@deadshot4245 honestly that is actually a cool idea. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that.
I think Gotham Knights is a solid 6/10. I don't think it was lazy, I don't think it was a cash grab, I ***DID NOT EXPECT AN ARKHAM GAME***, but it does feel like a game that was structured for a live service model. What would move this 6 to an 8 for me would be combat tweaks. Most people who doesn't like the game are people whose only played a few minutes, ***EXPECTED ARKHAM***, or just don't understand the combat seems to be the popular things to say. I understand the combat, but the mechanics that were supposed to make it more compelling just made it less enjoyable than it could have been because it looks really good. This comment is already a little long but if they listen to the criticism from the majority of players and improve, I'll get the next one.
I think what I would love to see are things mainly combat related. I think per suit type you should either have mod chips or different abilities to complement that suit. Like stealth sucks with red hood abilities. If you gave the player the option to pick which fight style you want. That or give more gadgets rather than abilities. I love abilities but I realize I only use half of them
Sucks being a game developer these days. All that work for people to attack in the end.
Gotham Knights was pretty good in my book I don't care what people because here's what Gotham Knights did that was awesome they extended the DC universe like Easter eggs you can hear from that girls team birds of prey did Grayson's team did Justice League you heard from Superman son Superboy Robin's best friend I should I say /cousin because on this game Superman is like their Uncle he kept calling texting checking on them he's like if things get worse call me you tell him about the Court of owls just seen your message I heard about them be careful if you get too deep I'm coming out so we might be getting a Superman game in the future connected to that story and also they did say they working on dlc like with other characters and I'm seeing probably Catwoman Batgirl and also probably Green arrow because if you hear people talking baby talking about Green arrow having problems other so I can see them expanding this game to bigger things and good stories because they already saying that they think about making a Superman they can pretty much use this storyline right here during the time of Gotham Knight they can make a teen Titan game they can make a Superboy game other games like flash green arrow like what everybody else stories has the side heroes during the Gotham Knight and they could have Arkham pretty much on the big heroes like Superman and all that like I would love for him to do like a Arkham Superman game during a ton of Batman was going through the Arkham stories what was Superman doing because Dad said suicide squad took place after Arkham Knight and we saw a Superman on the trailer so that means Superman exist during the Arkham trilogies so what would he doing they say they're going to make a Superman game where you go and just have the Gotham Knight story for over heroes
I played the one hour trial and loved Batgirl's gameplay!

A majority of the hate for this game comes from bigger channels hating on the game without even understanding it. It was just easier to jump on the hate wagon and get some views and traction. This game deserved better.
See this is proof dc needs to make their own version of ultimate alliance besides young justice legacy
Agreed recently i got it from humble bundle and i am enjoying shouldn't listen to those earlier reviewers
I’ve done around 90 hrs and I love this game. I also turned off a lot of the stuff in the UI settings so there’s not so much stuff like enemies being highlighted or damage numbers etc and the game looks a lot cleaner for it. There is a bit too much stuff all over the screen otherwise.
Yeah I can understand that especially by the end game you basically should grasp the mechanics. That being said the information can be very valuable
0:50 I have never played this game. I haven't even touched Arkham Knight but I did play Arkham Origins and thought that was pretty awesome. Had some flaws like I hear Knight does but all in all it was a badass ride. I heard nothing about this game other than it came out. People harped on it for not being Arkham but they also harped on Origins for not being Arkham enough. Like the RE fanbase, impossible to please.
Very great comparison. Gamers play favorites.
Combat is very basic until you unlock those skills that let you block basic attacks. Block & Parry need to be basic abilities that can be levelled up using skill tree. I got tired of pressing that dodge button, its just button mashing. Also until you progress with each hero & unlock unique skills, the combat is so similar no matter what hero you play. Thats nuts & makes early game boring.
Progression in the game is odd. Like I said though given how you can play each hero at any time. It seems like they’re wanting to make the game accessible to pick up.
For example if I was playing robin for four hours (got knighthood and so on) switching to nightwing will be a more easier transition. More I invest into him the more I get a better feel for how he plays.
A lot of games do this quite frankly and it works for most people and I appreciate it
Also I will say every character should have a ability to counter most if not all enemies after the black gate mission. “Piercing abilities” as they’re called
The game looks and feel more real ...because of the details
one of my personal favorite things about the crime system is that if you hang around when your hero says "time to go", the cops will actually show up and attack you if you're not hiding, unlike in Spider-Man where he says stuff like that but you can just chill without any real issue.
The infinite dodge of the drone type enemy is actually something that's explained in one of the training room instances... it's called Evasion Flurry and the small Talons have it too. If I could change one thing about the game, it would be removing Evasion Flurry, straight up. The two enemy types that have it already have some other gimmick that makes them unique (drones and revival), and dealing with it can be downright unfair at times.
Yeah I should’ve been specific about this I mentioned the drone users but this actually is an issue with the talons as well very frustrating and can be hard to read.
I'm sorry but the cut scene takedowns instead of me doing some kind of combo felt wrong, the overall button mashing combat just wasn't the same level of fun that arkham games had.
The incredibly weird stop and go pacing with needing to redo your gear just so you can keep up with the enemies feels odd.
And defending what was not design choices for fun but instead predatory business practices just seems like copium.
I really wanted to like this game, but it was a straight stinker
Cutscene takedowns? Odd way of putting it considering Arkham has a input to do exactly that.
In my video I elaborated on the combat and specific nuances to it. Proving it isn’t just “button mashing”
The idea of a gear system that is predatory is up for debate but genuinely that’s just how RPG’s work and it’s not like the game doesn’t hand such gear out as you progress through the story (it literally does).
To me it seems this game just wasn’t for you I appreciate you trying to like it
@@berice4390 pre animated takedowns, whatever you want to call them.
Arkham didn't zoom in on the character and you lose control for a sweeping shot of some strange takedown that sometimes caused graphical glitches of you floating in the air as you are doing some somersault in the air on a bad guy.
It was something you had to activate and only have going through combat without actually getting hit for the ability to do it.
Not automatically triggered from the last man standing.
You may be able to finesse combat to go beyond just button mashing, but at the end of the day you aren't forced to and can complete combat without doing anything skillful, unlike Arkham if you try to start button mashing you're going to lose.
However, I'm still going to call the finesse button mashing as you aren't changing your button pressing nearly as much and instead just timing the press of the same button.
Don't try the bs of "that's just how rpgs work" I can point to plenty of rpgs that don't force unrelenting grinds design to justify micro transactions to sell you a "resource pack" in the name of time saving convenience.
It's that kind of defending why companies continue to load games down with this kind of bs.
You can make the point that the takedowns are glitchy and if that’s really something that bothers you that’s valid. Personally I cannot recall a time that happened to me.
I think you can argue that you can still play the Arkham games by button more so then this game. It depends on which game. Of course. But honestly comparing these two games on its combat is like comparing apples or oranges. There is really little to compare and I’ve stressed how much it makes sense to do so. You simply cannot get the same experience of combat between the two and that isn’t a bad thing inherently. It really comes down to personal preference. I’ve elaborated on why these differences matter in my video. How this game is built on a different frame work and such. That being said you are rewarded for playing the game and not button mashing. My section on combat I hope highlights this.
Also what are you talking about resource packs the game has no micro transactions Dude. The gameplay loop can consists of you going out and fight crime to get gear. There is issues with how rewarding said gear and perhaps how to navigate it. But calling predatory and such is quite frankly a lie and is exactly why I made this video.
@@berice4390 go stand near stairs when hitting the last enemy, or near a cliff that sorta corners an edge. I've seen it more than a few times.
You'd be wrong trying ro argue the arkham games are more button mashing.
If you don't use the correct combinations plus the right timing and just whale on the attack button, then you will go down and get the restart screen.
With Gotham you can completely limp through the game's combat without any real finesse.
The reason people compare the combat to Arkham is because people were wanting that combat system, not the one that was given.
As for talking about microtransactions I was confusing it for the live service avengers, so my bad there.
I still feel the grinding is way to obtuse and if it's just to pad out game time, then that's bad in it's own way. (just not as bad as for microtransactions sales)
@@umokwhy2830 once again I’ll elaborate on this games framework. The game can be played with four different characters. With specific nuances. Can be played co-op. With that in mind it’ll simply not be possible to have the same level of depth as the Arkham games. Different frame works. Context matters. All because I can play the games button mashy doesn’t make it bad. It just makes the player “bad” but I’ve clearly demonstrated there’s a lot to consider to get the most out of combat. For a satisfying experience. This is just how the game works. The more things you learn and invest in the more you’ll actually get out of.
Anyone can play the arkham games just button mashing and not engaging with the other things in combat maybe not on the hardest difficulty but I’ve seen TH-camrs do this. More specifically Arkham Asylum (first game. So the combat isn’t that much in depth)
Once again if that’s how you feel about the games gear I can’t argue with that. I simply never had it ruin my experience. If you didn’t wanna engage with that then play on the lowest difficulty.
I’ll also ask you to consider other RPG’s that you’ve played on the hardest difficulty that had it so you didn’t have to grind for gear. Because every RPG I’ve touched on the hardest difficulty I’ve ended up having to grind for gear.
If you yourself had issues with it in this game that’s fine I can see why other people wouldn’t wanna engage with it. But that’s just how Other games like it work. Like I said as the games story progresses it legit just gives you gear up to your level so you don’t have to engage with the grind all the time and just engage the story
I played the game co op with my brother and we enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm not one who cares about fps. I honestly don't notice and so usually play on quality mode at 30fps with Ray tracing on ps5 anyway. If it's not competitive multi-player, which I don't play, I don't think it matters.
In co op we stuck to 1 character, I being Nighwing, my brother playing Robin...if we played without the other we'd level up and play the other characters we normally ignored.
I find lots of games I like/love, that others hate. I haven't paid attention to reviewers or allowed a review tonaffect a purchase I made in 15 years. Why would i? I'm the one who knows what I like. Journos aren't even good usually, admit to playing only on easy at times, not finishing a game, giving a review to someone on staff who hates the genre...and nowadays I've seen games praised all the way through only to give it a 6 or 7 because it doesn't have enough inclusiveness or something ridiculous. Like Kingdom Come which journos liked but rated lower because there wasn't enough black people in Bohemia in 1400AD. Give me a break.
And yes, IGN is trash...Alien Isolation is one of the best games ever made...or how about their classic Wind Waker review where they said it had too much water...in a game world made of water and small islands.
Most TH-camr reviewers j7st watch for a couple then copy paste their opinions.
Looking back at my own library list with my own personal review scores just for me...I gave Gotham Knights an 8.8 out of 10 and had really hoped for story dlc. My brother already played through it a 2nd time solo. I would, but have way too many games. 202 physical ps5 alone, plus 30+ digital, plus almost 600 Switch, etc, etc. I can't even find time for the 6 VR games I bought to go with VR2.
But I agree, good game. Riding the motorcycle is a blast, but the traversal are so fun, you barely need it.
I really appreciate this essay. Genuinely means a lot. To hear your response to my points. I’m glad you engaged the game to the extent you did. Tells me this game has had quite the audience that appreciate it.
I Don't Get It I played Games That Where Scummier Than Even Marvel Avengers and I played Both Gotham Knight and Marvel Avengers / And Gotham Knights Is Not Even Pay to Win
Yep you’ll see people online confidently say Gotham Knights is live service or Gotham Knights is x y z. Lies like that. Saddening
I will say this. The graphics is totally disappointing for a ps5 game almost like it was meant for the ps4.
Just got the ps5 2 weeks ago and installed it for free. Keep in mind i had not checked any reviews at that time and all i knew was i liked the previous Batman game so why not. And like most people know i was disappointed.
The game is not for everyone maybe for kids that can't tell what a good game is and i do envy them. But for me it just felt boring and not what i was expecting from next gen console. Even my older brother that tried the few game i downloaded on the ps5 could instantly tell GK looked like a ps4 clunky game.
It was initially going to be on ps4 but they canned it months before release
Completed it last night with a friend, a genuinely terrible game. The only reason anyone would defend this if they have not played the vastly superior and GOATED Arkham franchise.
I adore the Arkham franchise. Gotham Knights does things that people don’t make understand or care to understand so I made this video presenting it in a new light. Hope you learn something from this as I worked hard on jt
Just started playing this on Game Pass, and I don’t understand all the hate. I think it’s entertaining so far. The combat needs little work, but I think it’s fine so far
It gets better as you invest more time into it. For example unlocking Knighthood gives you a additional hit in your combo meaning more choices. Also make sure you read up on momentum abilities!!
I was planning on getting the game anyway, its not the reviews that put me off - I was turned off the moment I found out it only plays in 30fs. Ive tried playing a few games in 30fps, and it just felt janky to me.
It maybe due to your eyes just not being used to the visual difference IMMEDIATELY but yeah I understand the sentiment I appreciate you’re intrigue
I actually liked this Gotham Knights game myself cause it was very interesting seeing Batman's underlings taking over after he sacrificed himself. Also before it happened Bruce was actually balanced and humorous in this one and was more open with his underlings too.
Yeah Batman media potrayed Bruce to be a jerk to his family I’m glad they stepped up from that
@@berice4390 Yeah and I always liked Batman/Bruce a whole lot better during the old 90's days and further back when he was always balanced.
I thought the game was boring the combat is janky and just boring to me. I got it for free and still deleted it it was just that boring. Play ghost of Tsushima instead
Never said it was for everyone if you can’t connect with it that’s valid. It’s just a lot of people didn’t engage or lied about the games mechanics and systems. That’s what I made this video and I hope it gives you a new perspective (I love ghost btw)
I think that to me, Gotham Knights Tim Drake sounds like an older version of TAS Tim Drake. Anyone else get that kinda vibe or that just me? 😅
The actor said he was inspired by that take particularly
@berice4390 Oh, really? That's awesome :) Robin, I think, is the best in terms of voice acting, and Batgirl, sad to say I think is the worst. She just sounds like she's bored or something. Idk what it is. Some of her dialogue sounds better than others, but gameplay wise, her voice sounds kinda off to me.
oh yes sorry we didn't mean the game was bad 😅we actually meant the game is actually a lit fire garbage dump that no one should pay a dollar for, definitely not 70
Oh well I’m sorry you didn’t watch the full video and taking it at face value.
Can't please everyone some peeps are going to always complain about something I think it's a great game in every aspect especially with it being free
Yep never my intention or should be anyone’s intention. The game has a lot to consider that reviewers and players simply haven’t.
I can only speak for myself, but I just don't enjoy playing it. It's that simple.
Not for everyone. Just mainly towards people who reviewed it and spread false information on it. Appreciate you trying it out
I feel like if this was the avengers game it would be unanimously praised. Image a teen titans game like this tho 👀👀
I think there’s multiple factors that could’ve gave the game more credit.
Super h we o games shouldn't have gear its why the Spider-Man games are so good
Spider-Man isn’t a multiplayer game. I’ve explained why gear works in this game the way it does. Spider-Man has stats you get by gathering resources that makes you more powerful. They’re not that much different. It’s more nuanced then “this thing is bad xyz…” that’s why I made this video
no one was wrong the game sucks
Hmmm are you sure?
Nice review been enjoying the game on ps5
Appreciate it glad to see the game gaining a much needed audience! Appreciate the support
This game is amazing with mods, imagine running around with custom skins, playing as Batman, or playing as marvel characters like: Daredevil,
Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, and Black Widow, not only that they added crossplay, with 60+ fps with rtx, pc is the
best experience by far rn
IMO I think everyone expected the quality level and feel of the Arkham series, and this game has a completely different feel. It’s an action rpg in the Gotham universe. Personally I think it’s an average game in an attempted AAA skin. It’s disappointing when you have a better feeling and better looking game that came out years ago. If I had paid full price I would have been pissed.
I mean to your point it’s a rpg. The things that made the Arkham trilogy work wouldn’t work in this context. It feels better once you take the time to acknowledge and understand that.
@@berice4390 definitely agree with you on that!
Really wish you'd given a quick spoiler warning before 20:50. This video did a really good job of hyping me up to play this game, especially since I got it with PS Plus and will be playing it with a friend. After seeing Suicide Squad, I only wish GK was lined up to be the Arkham sequel. It almost feels weird that it’s not. I’m almost done with Knight after playing all the Arkham games again. I’m gonna play GK right after and see if my opinion changes with the old games fresh in my mind. You do make a good point about the combat. I don’t think many people bothered to learn it. They just rushed out to call it bad. Once I figured out to use different elemental attacks on different enemies it was like a eureka moment. Now that guy you’ve been punching over and over goes down in 3 hits

I like this game cause I don’t play it with Arkham expectations lol I jus play it as a Batman action rpg type game and I enjoy the game for what it is I don’t have a problem with the gameplay however it would have Been cool for the characters to have counter or parry ability instead of constantly dodging I mean yea the perfect dodge is cool but if I have to press the attack button to do a perfect counter I don’t see it as a counter attack I just see it as just another type a attack and not a proper counter attack if only the perfect counter could happen automatically after doing a perfect dodge
I think most people think each character plays identical but fail to realize the difference in the game play

Arkham series would fart and that'd have more substance than this game. But I'm personally not even comparing it to Arkham games.
I gave it a fair chance, no benchmarks or comparisons. It's horribly repetitive. The characters are hollow. Stats & RPG elements are bloated af. You're Dick Grayson, the first Robin, the current Nightwing and you're stacking fire (lolwhat) damage to deal tickle damage to some street mobs. Well fuck all that, boss battles also suck. It takes 2 superheroes to chip damage off Harley Quinn for 2 minutes, because she's apparently as resilient and buff as Bane. Then you fight a zombie Batman like what the hell - and nevermind spoilers don't even bother making it to there, I just did you a favor.
Literally every aspect of this game sucks. Story sucks. Open world is void and clunky to travel. Fights mechanics suck. RPG elements suuuuuuck aaassss. Challenges suck. When you compare it to Arkham these become x5 amplified because the newest one of that series is 10 years old ffs.
