When everyone isn't in costume and are wearing their street clothes, they're always seen wearing their costume colors and ONLY those colors. Like what is this? Fuckin power rangers? We know who they are, you dont have to make them dress like that when not in costume. It looks dumb.
I always thought this game was apart of the Arkham series so learning that it wasn't here just confuses and fascinates me more about how this game came to be
it s not about the graphics. The combat is so slow, when u are playing on pc is verry frustrating when u press the mouse and u see how your character reacts. The vehicle is slow, looks like is going verry fast but nope,it s so slow.
I never played this game, because frankly the gameplay videos looked boring and the aesthetic sort of screamed "Arkham meets AAA crap." Guess I was right. Not looking forward to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, either. It says something when a game gets delayed for a year because Kevin Conroy's final vocal performance as Batman was gated behind a live service model.
Having finished the game with 1 character (not going to do it with all 4) it was clear this was going to be a live service game and got "re-tooled" at some point to a single player game but still with all the live service elements in place.
My issue with people who review this game is the immediate comparison to the Arkham series, even after everyone always admits that this isn't by any means related or trying to be. If you play it on its own it's not as bad. When you compare it to a series you already love, that it's not trying to be, it will disappoint almost Everytime
Listening to this, it sounds like Gotham Knights is DC's version of what Marvel's Avengers (2020). An aggressively mediocre game that could have been more than what the final product was.
While the gameplay was definitely mid, the one thing I firmly believe Gotham Knights got right was the character interactions: this is the best written these characters have been since the animated TV show (and the Red Hood movie in Jason Todd's case)
And that's the problem. Gamers like you give a pass for lackluster gameplay and mechanics because of a decent story... I appreciate a good story within a game too.. but that should NEVER be the priority over GAMEPLAY. Go watch a TV series or movie for that shit.. I just want my video game to be fun before everything else
I picked this up in the WB 100 year anniversary bundle. I'm about 20 hours in. If I had paid full price for this game, I'd be very upset. Having paid $15 for this, plus every Arkham game (except Blackgate), both Injustice games, 2 Mortal Kombat games, both Shadow of Mordor games, Mad Max...this game was 100% worth the money.
I’m kinda in the second act of Gotham Knights and it isn’t that horrible by any means. It does have issues like repetitive side missions, very less villains (which is shocking), clunky traversal at times (speaking of traversal, Robin's is my least favourite) which is mainly an issue in the time trial stuff and a bland story which was unfortunately built on a great premise, but otherwise it’s fine. The combat and suits are decent, the main four characters are good and their dynamics are good.
One of the things that bother me the most about the game is how little villains there are in the game .. Only really have Talia,The Court of owls,Clayface,Mr.Freeze and Harley Quinn. How you gonna have all 4 knights and have very little villains??? Perfect time to put Deathstroke,Black Mask,Professor Pyg,Killer Croc ect like what tf? Maybe add goofy villains too like condiment king and Crazy Quilt.
It sucked because it was made like a looter shooter but with fighting. Look at Division 1 & 2, great games and worlds but world is empty. You travel from place to place where a mission is and encounter a hand full of enemies in between. Thats what Gotham Knights is. Empty world with few enemies you knock out in a few seconds then travel to another place. Just not what people wanted.
I had to quit this game, It got pretty boring real quick with the copy and paste crimes, it didn't help that the voice acting for the thugs was atrocious, having traversals locked behind a grind fest, I can't help to think what could have been if they focused to make a great gaming experience instead of just rushing it with mobile-game like UI and other RPG mechanics.
The biggest sin was that all of them already had movesets from the previous arkham games and all they had to do was polish that and release a game and they wouldve made a ton of money
I remember seeing some leaked concept art and other game file/coding images that showed they planned to have both Damien Wayne be in the game as well as have Batman be playable at some point, the Batmobile being a vehicle option, and other villains such as Solomon Grundy. As for if the was meant to be future dlc besides the Starro one or part of the base game, I don’t know.
Gotham Knights had so much potential to be amazing but man oh man the execution was so disappointing not to mentioned focusing on live service elements for this game development really didn't help anyone in the long run which includes me in this category because i was one of the few people who was excited about this game included having a bat family game fighting the court of owls would be really awesome and tons of fun but unfortnately the execution was so disappointing at least in my opinion.
Me too and anyone who don't like or want one don't have to play it it's simple 🤷♂️ I really want some DLC and some Batman DLC leading up to the fight in the Bat cave also.
I replayed this game a few months ago and I can still say that I thoroughly enjoyed it the only downside about his game I think is that he should have more story DLC with some of his more famous villains, and definitely more costumes. Maybe explain the city a little bit more.
I hate to say I told you so, but I knew abandoning the Arkham style combat was a huge mistake. They didn't have to make it an Arkham game, but they should have kept the counter based combat that games like Arkham, shadow of mordor and mad max used. Ultimately I wish they had made their suicide squad game and rocksteady made something else since it looks like Rocksteadys suicide squad is going to be a huge disappointment. This game was basically a photo mode expansion for Bat-family fans. I've seen a lot of really cool screenshots from this game and that's about where the positive end.
"Overdesigned" I didnt know what I hated about the characters looks until you said that. But that's EXACTLY what it is. Just stuff on stuff "for the look". Nice eyes man.🤔👍
cant say i had high hopes for this game because arkham origins sucked hard and this just shows that wb montreal dont know how to make a good game lol the closest they did was that batgirl dlc for arkham knight which was just dlc ... and the writing in gotham knights is freakin atrocious like one of those cringely gang members telling a fire alarm to shut up and to 'die die die die!!!!' lmao who wrote that ?
The biggest issue with this game is it was clearly meant to be a live service game, but after the backlash, they backtracked from that, but the damage was already done, so the game just ended up being a pseudo-looter game.
The Arkham games set a gold standard and made a good formula that worked. Why would you deviate from it? If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you like it fine, but don't cope that its bad.
I may be a little biased, because I'm a huge DC fan, but I liked it. It doesn't unfortunately have the replay value that the original Arkham games had, but it's an interesting story, great idea and I really like the characters and their different moves, gadgets and abilities. It's great.
The batfamily mirrors the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Nighwing - Leonardo Leader, wears blue Redhood - Raphael Hot head muscle, wears red Batgirl - Donatello Techy, wears purple Robin - Michelangelo Youngest that no one takes seriously
Great video🙌🏾 Sad Indeed. I definitely remember being very hyped for this game. I loved the Arkham series so much. Unfortunately I doubt I’ll ever play this game.
As someone who has played this game twice and watched the comment section as each new trailer came out I can say the game was better than expected. Sure the combat is not exactly the same as arkham as warner bros tried something diffrent that does take awhile to ease into. However the best thing about the game is that there are no live service elements such as battle passes, junk dlc. Another good thing is that they stayed awayf from the leveling grind from avengers and made it to where it is a game with a coop option instead of makeing it a coop game. As for rocksteadys new suicide squad game which everyone praised in the gotham knights comment section that game looks like a dumpster fire.
I tried giving Gotham Knights some chances but everytime I played, it was a mess. Either I was bored out of my mind or frustrated with the constant leveling up to where your characters are maxed out by 40 yet gear and enemies go above 60. You want a terrible Gotham Knights experience? Play Heroic Assault by yourself, you’ll immediately delete the game when you get to Level 22
It really looks like this was meant to be a Live Service Game, and due to how badly those have been doing they changed it, but the Systems where already there. This also looks to be the same issue that S. Squad is dealing with. Problem is Live Service Games put Monetization over Fun.
Its ironic how crappy this game is because WB Montréal made arkham origins which is infinitely better than gotham knights. And now the servers for the online of arkham origins just got shut down, so their trying to forget that game in favor of this cesspool. What a shame😔
The spot with the gauntlet of rooms where you stopped doing side quests is where I just full stopped playing the game. That area was fully obnoxious and the rest of the game wasn't good enough for me to forgive it.
The fact that there's four different playable characters, and they ALL have to be leveled-up and improved separately using grindable resources, is just dumb - that's a massive waste of time. They could've knocked it down to three by removing Batgirl from the roster, and only having three characters; once they did that, then they could also allow the player to improve the three using the same resources - like how in more classical RPGs every party member gets the same Exp. and can use mostly the same equipment (aside from weaponry), the devs here could've allowed the player to upgrade Red Hood, Nightwing and Robin without needing to grind them out individually.
Fine enough Saturday morning game to lose a couple hours in, but only if you're free that whole Saturday. See Saints Row remake, Evil West, Dead Island 2, etc. The Heroic Assaults are very, very repetitive, and it's crazy how you can clear a couple floors in coop not doing great damage then craft a near max level Mythic now and melt everything. This game would have been served better if it wasn't a games as service dialed back into a coop RPG campaign game.
This game was way more fun than I expected the legit only flaw of the game is not enough content that’s all if we was to get an expansion plus a new character it’ll do it must justice
True, that kind of sucks cause the combat isn't as smooth as the Arkham games, and it was trying to be like the ninja turtles in a way, but Batgirl got cake though
I played the game to completion, completely solo. I tried so hard to like the game over my 50+ hours playing but my conclusion is that the entire thing sucks. There are little to no redeeming qualities. It does not belong in the same conversation as any Arkham game
You would think that WB learn their lesson but nope! Suicide squad is another trash pile destroying the Arkham series, this is what happens when corporate fucks make decisions about video games
It's not an arkham game, you are literally critiquing it on not being a game you liked. That's not a fair critique, it'd be like me saying I liked Spider-Man for PS4 and I did not appreciate how Gotham Knights deviated from that. They were not trying to make an arkham game, so maybe just critique its flaws as they are instead of comparing them to another game so directly.
Thank you for this review, I got tired of it from watching a guy play it and saw the combat with the first group of freaks he encountered. I could feel that the combat was so slow and not fun.
For me it's the downgraded combat (it's miles harder than FreeFlow from Arkham but miles less satisfactory, not hard fun like Ninja Gaiden or DMC, feels like a bunch of old people beating each other) and RPG mechanics that worsens even more the combat (who thought those dumb elemental damage things were a good idea, I can't fathom the idea of Nightwing and co. setting thugs on fire, is it supposed to be magical not lethal fire or something). Also, non-lethal Red Hood is lame as hell. On the bright side, I liked the takedown animations, whoever was in charge of those deserves a rise.
Played this recently, honestly don't think I'll finish it. They took away almost everything that made the Arkham games so much fun and the new things they try aren't even that great. Easily the worst Batman game.
Honestly.. they should’ve just made another Arkham game. Taking place after Arkham Knight where all the sidekicks gotta team up. Literally just turning this into a sequel to Arkham would’ve made people interested in it.
My main issue is I LOVED the world of Arkham Knight.. it literally left off perfectly for a Bat fam game that myself, my brothers, and my buddies were praying for, and I know we weren't alone.. They literally could have taken Arkham Knight, and made huge DLC, and it would have been 10x better than Gotham Knights.. Arkham Knight already had Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood playable, with much better gameplay than we got with GK, which they could have built upon. AK's Gotham is 10x more detailed, and visually impressive than GK's.. they could have changed things around, and shown Gotham with Bruce/Batman "dead". They could have removed bat-mobile, and implemented the bat bikes, and make it co-op... add story, bring back villains, add new villains, and bada bing bada boom it's a masterpiece. They had 7 years to do this.. and we got the biggest let down of a game i've almost ever been highly anticipated for. This one still stings. Also how tf you do a bat family game with no playable Batman?
As Terry Mcginnis once said, "Hey, we can't all be Batman."

When everyone isn't in costume and are wearing their street clothes, they're always seen wearing their costume colors and ONLY those colors. Like what is this? Fuckin power rangers? We know who they are, you dont have to make them dress like that when not in costume. It looks dumb.
I always thought this game was apart of the Arkham series so learning that it wasn't here just confuses and fascinates me more about how this game came to be
Oh man the way you described the 4 characters sounded like a copy of tmnt and Alfred is like master splinter
it s not about the graphics. The combat is so slow, when u are playing on pc is verry frustrating when u press the mouse and u see how your character reacts. The vehicle is slow, looks like is going verry fast but nope,it s so slow.
I'll tell you this, THIS is how you adapt the personalities of the Batfamily into a videogame.
Comparing it to previous Batman games it's a damm shame.
You must've not played Arkham City or Arkham Knight. Because in comparison to both those games - this game is mediocre AT BEST.
The game devs made it for the gullible ones like this one
R.I.P. Arleen Sorkin, you were the best Harley voice
I had to quit this game, It got pretty boring real quick with the copy and paste crimes, it didn't help that the voice acting for the thugs was atrocious, having traversals locked behind a grind fest, I can't help to think what could have been if they focused to make a great gaming experience instead of just rushing it with mobile-game like UI and other RPG mechanics.
dawg I won't cap, the only reason that man bat doesn't call for backup is cuz that's the only one that doesn't
The biggest sin was that all of them already had movesets from the previous arkham games and all they had to do was polish that and release a game and they wouldve made a ton of money
I never knew this game even released after the announcement trailer. Heard not a peep, smh
Congrats on 200K subs, Here’s to 300 and beyond
What we need is a Batman Beyond game.
I really want a sequel in the future
You're trippin bro😂
@@TETEFIEND nope
Hahaha you’re ducking crazy this game was shit did you start playing video games yesterday?
Me too and anyone who don't like or want one don't have to play it it's simple 🤷♂️ I really want some DLC and some Batman DLC leading up to the fight in the Bat cave also.
I replayed this game a few months ago and I can still say that I thoroughly enjoyed it the only downside about his game I think is that he should have more story DLC with some of his more famous villains, and definitely more costumes. Maybe explain the city a little bit more.
It actually wasn't a complete disaster imo. Then physics were pretty off and the voice acting was corny as hell, but it was still pretty fun.
"Overdesigned"
I didnt know what I hated about the characters looks until you said that.
It's great.
Props to whoever designed the Batmobile in Arkham knight I was having so much fun I didn’t even know the game had fast travel
The batfamily mirrors the teenage mutant ninja turtles.
Nighwing - Leonardo
Leader, wears blue
Redhood - Raphael
Hot head muscle, wears red
Batgirl - Donatello
Techy, wears purple
Robin - Michelangelo
Youngest that no one takes seriously
Great video🙌🏾
Sad Indeed.
IT'S BEEN A YEAR? Bro, I definitely only heard about Gotham Knights in 2023; where have I been? 🤯
I loved playing as Robin in Gotham Knights. Think the voice actor for GK Robin would make a great Spider-man. 😊
10:08 that fade away sequence says it all haha
Its ironic how crappy this game is because WB Montréal made arkham origins which is infinitely better than gotham knights. And now the servers for the online of arkham origins just got shut down, so their trying to forget that game in favor of this cesspool. What a shame😔
The spot with the gauntlet of rooms where you stopped doing side quests is where I just full stopped playing the game. That area was fully obnoxious and the rest of the game wasn't good enough for me to forgive it.
Me and the 314 Worldwide Steam Players that still play this game actually quite enjoy it. :D
we just need a Gotham City Imposters 2 at this point
That manbat fight looked like it took awhile 😂
Fr me Mecha Freeze was horrible. I kept dying.
I played once. Never finished.
Nate’s quite literally Jesus of mutants, and I love it lmao.
I love the Arkham series so much (Asylum is still the best). I didn't even give this one a try.
I just realized they're literally just the Ninja Turtles
This game was way more fun than I expected the legit only flaw of the game is not enough content that’s all if we was to get an expansion plus a new character it’ll do it must justice
I can't believe it's already been a year
True, that kind of sucks cause the combat isn't as smooth as the Arkham games, and it was trying to be like the ninja turtles in a way, but Batgirl got cake though
Congrats on 200K J!
The focus groups only care what journalists say
It's not an arkham game, you are literally critiquing it on not being a game you liked. That's not a fair critique, it'd be like me saying I liked Spider-Man for PS4 and I did not appreciate how Gotham Knights deviated from that. They were not trying to make an arkham game, so maybe just critique its flaws as they are instead of comparing them to another game so directly.
Thank you for this review, I got tired of it from watching a guy play it and saw the combat with the first group of freaks he encountered. I could feel that the combat was so slow and not fun.
This game’s greatest achievement in my opinion was someone modding the IGN score into Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC
I beat it 3 times…
The third time was an accident. To be real I enjoyed the game
@@Pilot_Warden like what even is you sad shitty lonely life that you play this 3/10 game 3 TIMES 😭.
I wasn't even aware this was released.
Another Problem with the Plot was that wouldn't Batman dying grab the attention of the rest of the Justice League?
Played this recently, honestly don't think I'll finish it. They took away almost everything that made the Arkham games so much fun and the new things they try aren't even that great. Easily the worst Batman game.
@@largebig79 literally set in the Batman universe even if you're not playing as Batman himself. But okay.
Some people had the audacity to say this was better than Arkham Knight
Still feels like a fever dream that you hope it wasn't real
Ooh wow, I’m really early! I’m sure I’ll enjoy the video, even though I haven’t played the game and don’t plan to
Honestly.. they should’ve just made another Arkham game. Taking place after Arkham Knight where all the sidekicks gotta team up. Literally just turning this into a sequel to Arkham would’ve made people interested in it.
Good video
Will be waiting for the learning to love version
