I've noticed in several of Diane's interviews that she will often pause to think before she speaks. If everybody did that, the world would be a better and more peaceful place.

Noting something about fillies NOT being as flashy or "glamorous" as colts.. Not true. I've known and exercised quite a few FLASHY fillies and many that just happen to be passing by that didn't know the horse automatically assumed the horse was a colt. It just goes to show you that its a mindset because most of horse racing has been dominated by colts because of the nature of the beast. Thats not a knock on any horse.. its simply a fact..
My opinion of Penny Tweety. Is in very high regard... and its not just because of her success with Secretariat..it was and still is because of her tenacity, strong business sense and her ability to manage the horse breeding business inherited from her father and do it in a man's world... well if that's not enough to revere her as an icon among business icons then you're just being silly.
Yes indeed Penny Chennery defied ALL ODDS and because of her will to succeed no matter what, lead her to being the owner of the greatest thoroughbred race horse that ever lived and will ever live. Did she get lucky or was it the fact that she knew to trust her intuition and good business sense. Secretariat did the rest!Cheers everyone. 😃

Wrangler, IMHO, Penny Chenery was smart by doing the research and followed her instincts from being around horses since her birth. Her parents taught her well. Not only was Secretariat the greatest racehorse that ever lived, but he was also highly intelligent as well. He'd do anything that Eddie Sweat and Penny Chenery ever asked of him. He quickly learned that Ron Turcotte was worth being trusted. Ron never once used a whip on him and only talked to him with praise and encouragement.

John Shafer, Penny's husband didn't share her dream and he only cared about money. Same for Penny's brother. Nobody remembered either of them later.

@@johnshafer7214 He kept insisting that the Meadow's Lane farm had to be sold. Penny greatly disagreed and that would eventually ruin the marriage. Had his opinion been followed, Secretariat may not have become near as great. Everybody involved aided in Secretariat becoming the greatest racehorse in history. Seabiscuit's story is somewhat similar. The people that saved him, he also saved them. I always felt a bit sad for the horse Sham. He was great horse also but Secretariat was a bunch better.
