    Because the book is from the 60s it was made when Spain was still under the fascist dictatorship, so the regions are different than how they are currently. León, Castilla La vieja and Castilla La Nueva don't exist anymore, having been merged or divided. They currently are Castilla-Leon, La Rioja, Cantabria, Madrid and Castilla la Mancha. Also, the book doesn't show the canary islands, much more south, next to Morocco's coast

    The map of Spain that you show is the predemocratic one, after the democratization of Spain in 1978 we changed the map a bit. For instance a part of Castilla la vieja+Leon is actually Castilla y León.
    Nevertheless I am so surprising with your interest in my lenguage. Thank you so much ♥️♥️

    • @MelangeASMR
      @MelangeASMR  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yes, my mistake, it didn't even occur to me to check whether the map had changed. It's a bit of an Austrian bias - here, it's completely unimaginable than anyone could change the borders of the regions, I think people would revolt. 😅
      That's very kind, thank you 💓

I know you said you knew not that much of Spanish but you have pronounced every word on point, and you're right, if you know Italian and French, you've done half of the lesson, mostly Italian helps you a lot to understand Spanish. Lovely video! I must say, as spanish, that there are more official languages in Spain than spanish itself. Catalonian, euskera (from Basque County) and galician are recognized as official languages in Spain. Asturian is not (I am from Asturias) but kids can study it at school anyway and it's officially used in documents inside the region. Thanks for your great work!

    Really tingly, thank you!! I've kind of become used to other types of ASMR videos (personal attention etc) but one of my oldest triggers, even before I knew about ASMR, was this kind of calm explanations and tracing (map tracing for instance).
    In this video I was particularly entranced by the tracing and your caressing the paper, but also by you reading Spanish with your pronouniciation. (You also have a reaaally soft voice, it's so pleasant!)
    By the way, it made me smile to see "Castilla la Vieja" and "Castilla la Nueva" - the provinces were rearranged after 1983 and so were the territories' names; now you have "Castilla y Leon" (with Leon and part of the old Castilla la Vieja) and "Castilla La Mancha" (roughly the old Castilla la Nueva). It was so interesting to see a familiar topic explained by an Austrian.
    You've got a new subscriber here 😊

      A bit late, but thank you so much for the kind words!! It's really nice to hear that this hit the spot. And I know exactly what you mean with ASMR before there was ASMR; same experience here.
      And I have to admit, it didn't even occur to me that the map might have changed because rearranging regions is just unthinkable in Austria 😅

    Love your channel. I think it would be great if you did an Q&A video. We could submit questions on your community posts, and you could do a video where you answer them, rather than a livestream. I can't be the only person that is very curious about you. How did you come up with the unique idea for this channel? How much research do you do for each video? Where do you find the books, and what comes first, the book or the idea for a video that you then have to find books for. What is your profession...I've often wondered if you're a teacher or professor because you're so good at explaining educating us? How did your interest in history, languages, and art begin?
    I'm just nosy, I guess. 😆

      th-cam.com/users/postUgkxV-Pr6qUny6QJ-_NwHvE-zIcrlJVEk4kq
      In short, I'm not a teacher of any kind and since I'm a shy deer lol, I'd rather keep it vague, but my job is basically in customer service. For each video, I count about a day for preparing and filming, though it really depends on the topic. Currently, it happens more often that the topic comes first, but especially when I started, I often just went searching for interesting maps and then looked up some stuff on wikipedia to figure out what to talk about. And that's how the channel developed, frankly. It's difficult to know where the views are going to come from when you get started, and it just so happened that the map videos were doing the best. If the algorithm had worked a little differently, this could have morphed into a very different channel 😅
      And as for where my interesting in these topics came from.... I don't know! I just liked languages and history at school (though not geography, funnily) and that hasn't changed - and I'm very happy that I've found a lot of people who also like these things 🥰💖

    Can someone fill me in, what is a book box? Is it a where people put books to donate and others can come and take them for free?

      @MelangeASMR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's it exactly. There are a couple throughout Vienna where you can leave your old books that you don't want anymore and pick up something else. Sometimes people also leave their old maps which is great for me haha

      Sounds similar to the "little free libraries" that have been getting popular over the years

      It happens. I usually read up on the topics I want to present the week before and in the case of Spanish, there was a lot of reading to do. So sometimes I run out of time, or I overlook info that would be important enough to include, or sometimes I just forget a thing or two while we're filming. It's not out of disrespect, it's just that I have limited resources, and I always appreciate it when people add to the topic in the comments.

      @@MelangeASMR I understand what you say and I want to apologise if my comment has been harsh. It's not your fault that region tends to be forgotten or its history mistreated. You do a difficult job (and you're very talented!) but no ome can be an expert in everything. Sorry if my comment hurt you.
