Thanks so much 😊 We could do with a hell of a lot more of those good days though, they appear to be in short supply at the moment! We better have a favourable winter!!! 😡
I agree 100%!!! There is something very much more special about flying in vs driving… it feels more ‘respectful’ somehow 😄🤷🏻♂️ Thank you for watching again, I appreciate your support 👍🏼
It’s a great place to visit, as you know! With your skills, I can’t imagine it’s much of a challenge with regards approach & landing 😄👍🏼 Thanks for taking time to watch & comment 🙏🏻
Great video….as usual, Dark Lord !…. …. I admit it’s heartwarming to see a “Flying Legend” still on the learning curve, sir…… gives great hope to we mere mortals !!! 😜…. The pics from Duxford are fab 😮….. It had me testing my ‘aircraft recognition’ skills …… trying to beat the captions !….🤣….. Definitely one for the ‘to do’ list … !! Well done again… Keep ‘em coming, sir… Captain Ray 👨✈️
Good to see you back sir 🫡 I know you would have felt right at home at Duxfield Capt Ray 👨🏼✈️ With the weather being as it is, I’m getting so rusty 😢 Will it ever end 🙏🏻 I really appreciate you watching & commenting, it’s never complete until it has your stamp of approval 😉👍🏼
It’s true, the place is MASSIVE!!! I visited more than is shown in this video & may may make a second with the remaining footage 🤔 Thanks for watching sir 🙏🏻 Hope to catch up with you soon 🤞🏼
It’s an easy place to visit. I felt a little intimidated at the thought of it the first time, but then I found it’s no more of a challenge than flying into any other airfield 😅 Thanks very much for watching 😊👍🏼
My Fiancé is going to the Halesworth airfield museum when she gets over to the UK in a week in a half, to spend time with her Nan. They were excited to have a US Pilot coming by lol. Great vid as always
I’ve never visited the Halesworth museum 😮 A quick google maps search appears to show the airstrip is no longer active, which is sad as it’s always great to fly in to these places. I hope she has a good time, I have to say that I suspect she will find that things are much better in the US than they are here in the UK. My wife & I would love to move to the US, but sadly immigration regulations render it almost impossible. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate you also taking time to comment 🙏🏻👍🏼
@@FlyingDarkLord She just got her Dual Citizenship for the UK (mum is British). We used to come twice a year to the UK summer and Xmas till covid hit and my business have been super busy after 2021. Fly safe!
I believe it was a truly revolutionary aircraft that sadly (like many) never found it’s full stride. Invariably budget issues I strongly suspect 🤷🏻♂️ I really appreciate you tuning in again 😊👍🏼
Great video. We flew into Duxford last summer and it was one of the best trips of the year. Incidentally, I think I would have called Boscombe as I got nearer to confirm whether MATZ penetration was approved - they do sometimes forget.
It’s heaven on earth! 🤓 I knew I had stuffed up my management of the MATZ transit, I always feel anxious about Boscombe in particular for some strange reason 🤷🏻♂️. I wanted to give myself plenty of time, but perhaps you’re right, maybe I should have left it a little later 😔 I’d rather fly around it than through it, so I need to overcome my issues with it!!! 😄 Thanks for commenting & your thoughtful advice, it’s greatly appreciated 🙏🏻👍🏼
Another very enjoyable vid, Geoff. I love flying into Duxford, a wonderful place to fly to and spent time there with all that amazing history. It is a bit of a tricky approach when arriving from some directions though… but well worth the effort 👌👍👏👏👏
Thanks for watching! It is a great place! I’ve only flown in when the wind is from the east because it allows me a straight in long final approach to 06. I suspect approaching from other directions would be challenging 😳 I agree though, it’s definitely worth a visit 👍🏼
Another great video. I think that it would have been about thirty years ago that I wa last at Duxford. Must go again some time. I think the controller must have forgotten your request for the MATZ penetration. Good to ask politely.
Great to see you back here again sir! 🫡 It’s amazing how quickly time passes 😳 I’d be interested to see if you feel the place has changed much in that time, if you go again then let me know what you think 🤔 I was flying around in circles like a numpty for ages 😄 good practice for doing 30’ turns though! I need to try transiting that MATZ a little more regularly to eradicate the unnecessary anxiety I have about that particular airspace… it’s entirely psychological! I’m happy to transit Southampton & Bournemouth without a worry, but Boscombe for some reason 🤷🏻♂️
Another fantastic video, thanks for sharing these and the new panel looks great. I recently got my PPL and as a result of your videos I am interested in a EuroFox. Any chance you would consider doing a video about the buying process (do they do finance, etc), insurance and hangarage, running costs, etc?
Congratulations!!! 🥳🎈 That’s fantastic news! Thank you too for the kind comments 😊👍🏼 I have considered doing a ‘running costs’ video, but there are so many factors in the equation 🤔 I still might though. As a rule of thumb, I would say that to buy & run a new EuroFOX requires a similar financial commitment to buying & running a new Audi RS5. Whilst I don’t believe that EuroFOX do aircraft finance you could always contact Nick from @letsgoflying who specialises in aircraft finance. His website is www.buckleyaircraftfinance.co.uk. Hangarage costs will vary, but the folding wings mean a greatly reduced hangarage cost or you can trailer & store at home. Fuel burn (with the injection engine) gives me the equivalent of 50mpg! It uses less petrol than my motorbike! 😳 I hope that helps. Purchase price & insurance are the biggest commitments (see above) 👍🏼
@@FlyingDarkLord Thanks for taking the time to respond, and for the info. I am semi thinking of selling my Lotus and maybe one of the motorbikes to get myself my own aircraft, but still researching so I can go into such things eyes open. Look forward to a video if you ever do one on your costs based on your setup, also what your aircraft configuration is (I love all the techy info :) ). Thanks again ... I am now also curious what bike you have ;)
Great video as always Geoff. I enjoy my flights into Duxford and never tire of the place. Have you been to Old Warden and the Shuttleworth collection? Maybe a meet up there in the future? Your cockpit filming is always so much clearer than mine even though I am filming in 4K?
Thank you very much sir, that is high praise indeed coming from you 🙏🏻 I haven’t visited Old Warden or Shuttleworth yet, but they are within easy striking distance for me, so I should add that to the ‘to visit’ list 👍🏼 Let’s definitely meet up & we can talk cameras, TH-cam & aviation 🥳🤓👍🏼
Have been through that area a lot but boscome always closed. Believe the correct phraseology is request matz penetration. As far as I know you don't need their permission either, it's just good airmanship.
Was all a bit odd. In the end they didn’t actually clear you for anything you couldn’t do already, they just seemed a bit uninterested which is a shame
Another brilliant video Geoff, the Weather Gods do sure shine on you when you go flying 😅. 👌👌
