@@barrygrewcock1102 Hi Barry, If you're referring to this trip (Limpopo), Mazhou has ample shade provided by huge Nyala trees. Ratho camp is next to the limpopo with large trees as well. Blouberg also has great shaded camps.
We are so blessed in SA with awesome campsites, the facilities, wildlife and accessibility is something to be very grateful for....and spoilt for choice across the country year round. Here in the Middle East you are pretty much 100% off the grid but we do have the luxury of being able to "wild camp" almost anywhere in the desert safely...in the winter months. But by day 2 you are longing for an ablution block and a hot-ish shower from a dodgy donkey.
Thanks! I can highly recommend Blouberg, very basic facilities (and take your own drinking water) but I had a great time there and will definitely be back for a longer stay!
@@GetOutGO the water on Blouberg is excellent for drinking. I am staying on the reserve for the last 27 years and I am very fortunate to call this place home
Very fortunate indeed, stunning place! The water at the ablutions wasn't smelling and tasting great, maybe worth while just having a look specifically at that water then.
Excellent! Thank you for the great videos and concise info you provide, helps us when planning for trips. Never knew some of these places existed until now. Keep doing what you're doing, very enjoyable.
Enjoyed your trip review & will look forward to your follow ups. I totally agree with your disappointment re the self drive ban in some parks & assume. It is partly to do with generating some income?
Thanks! I can understand it in smaller reserves and where you have alternatives like MTBing or hiking (like Matamba) but yes, I think in most cases it's to force you to take (paid) guided game drives unfortunately. It is our responsibility as overlanders as well though to use trails responsibly to keep them open to self-drive.
Nyl river bush camp is open to the public, yes, but it's chalets. The bush campsites were still being built last I was there. moorddriftwildlife.co.za/nyl-river-bush-camp/
Hi Christoff. Thanks for the video, very awesome. I am going to Mazhou later this month with a caravan and wondering which road would be better? The Musina way or the Alldays way? Potholes :-( Thanks again for the help.
Hi Glynn, I took the R521 (Alldays). The last stretch between Alldays and Mapungubwe is bad but the rest is okay. Going via N1 Louis Trichard (thus Musina) ads about 60km (coming from Polokwane). The last stretch between Musina and Mapungubwe is just as bad. I suggest regardless of which route you take, take it easy. You can drive around / through the potholes as long as you're going really slow.
Sorry for butchering some of the places' names, words are hard... 😊
Hi Christoff... So funny watching you on youtube... Much luck form Charles.
@@wakleader168 Thanks Charles 😉
@@GetOutGO Hi Christoff. from your camping trips, which camps do you remember for big trees? and riverside camps. Looking fwd to your advice

Very good video. You have the ability to say a lot in a short way. And you do not ramble on like many other presenters. Always enjoy your stuff
Thanks 🙏🏻

Fantastic review! Your channel is amazing keep up the good work 👍
Thank you!
I love this new format. Have you bought a new camera? I have the feeling the quality has improved so much. Best episode ever... until the next one.😜
Thanks! Same camera, I think I'm just getting more familiar with it (and post production) 😉
Take me along on the next one :)
Great video, well done, glad you enjoyed Blouberg in particular - but maybe I'm a little bit biased :-) - Rick from KuneMoya Blouberg
Thanks Rick! Biased or not, great place you have there 😉
Is the last place you visited open to the public? I would liked to have seen more on that as I am very fond of the Nylsvley area.

Could you include a Map (briefly in this Video) showing where these Camps are, plz ? Us aliens don’t know the Country like you.... !
