I saw a beautiful sight just about a month ago. I was rolling down I-89 towards White River Junction in my Honda Element. It was a little sloppy that day, wintry mix, so I was cruising along at the speed limit. I could see this large truck growing larger and larger in my rearview mirror. He was on the move! When he rolled by me, it was so awesome. The truck may have been a rig that once hauled Dale's cars from track to track. It was so awesome! Then we hit the junction of 89 and 91. He kept on rolling towards Concord, NH, and I headed South.
Can you imagine the relationship Dale Sr & Jeff G. would've had today as friends. My goodness the stories they could be telling us. Laughing & drinking a beer together, and loving looking back on it all. They're show would be number one, the highest anywhere on ratings. Featuring EVERY NASCAR driving star still alive that would grace the show with their appearances.. Like Hee Haw of Nascar. Or something like Jr could be heading to. Oh man I could imagine it.
Last time I saw Earnhardt senior race at Atlanta . He lapped the field . Never seen anything like it at any race I’ve ever been to , to this day. That was once in a lifetime thing was to actually see him race. That guy was larger than life amazingly talented person.🤘😎🤘
Wow it would have been such a treat, to hear Dale Sr call races from the booth (post retirement). Hearing his views and secrets on each track. I still say his passing was the biggest blow to NASCAR.. or at least the first major blow. Poor Jimmy, his 7 championships, credit is due he earned them... but he'll never wear it like Earnhardt did. Really though, we shouldn't put people on such pedestals.. If Earnhardt could tell us anything now, he'd say find Jesus!
Eric Gambrel because for 26 races another driver dominated (usually Jeff Gordon) and then the chase starts and resets everyone’s points and the guy who should of been down by 300 points has a better final 10 races and steals the championship. It gave Jimmie a fresh start when he would have been screwed in the better years of nascar. Nowadays it’s even worse. If you win one out of the first 26 races, you’re in the chase. So many irrelevant races. The chase ruined a lot imo
Well Jeff, I would've loved to hear Dale Sr talk about the times like you are now as well. Priceless. I wasn't your fan. But I've never hated ya. Thanks.
Dale Earnhardt Sr loved the sport so much, he pushed others after he won the Daytona 500. Gotta love when the competitor loves the sport more than the award.
I guess i am getting old, I rather watch my two favorite drivers talk chit about the past than watch current races. I think I am losing interest in NASCAR since I do not play virtual racing anymore. Back in the day when you were still a teen, and I was in my early 20s, I remember racing with you on the Sierra / Papyrus NASCAR RACING simulator/game. Back when it was still BETA test on the TEN Network if I remember correctly. I was mainly a "Professional Quake Player" But when the TEN Hawaii Beta test came out that was my game for the next 10 years. We were in the same race club for some reason you Mr. Dale Jr. seem to give a chit about me or was in a good mood that day, and gave me 3 race setups, one for TEXAS, one for Bristol, and one for restrictor Plates. They made me go from a driver to a winner. I used that Texas setup until they removed that "bump" out of 4. The question I always wonder is it courage or Insanity that allows you race like that in real life? In the time I raced "on simulators" i must of died 30 times or more times a year just on the crazy wrecks I always ended up in trying to hard to compete. Even greater is the courage to get back in the car after a wreck. Dale and Jeff I miss you two racing but I am glad you got the help needed on your concussion.
@@ThisIsWilliamPhelps, I didn't have a fast connection back then, but even if I had I'd never have raced online, because I was too terrible at it, but man, I used to love their message board and the stories the guys would tell on it. Spent hours either practising by myself, racing against the AI or reading the board.
I 100% Believe the Sport Would be in a Different Place if Dale was Still Alive ......He Would Have Rejected a lot of the Nonsense Over the Past 10-12 Years ......
He could have rejected it all he wanted too. He'd just have to stop racing. You folks that think he held some God position over NASCAR are delusional. The only thing that has power over them is the almighty dollar. Sr. wasn't gonna change that. He'd have been retired anyway. I don't like comparing drivers across generations. Things change. Tracks, cars, technology, money. Heck, even within their own careers success becomes fleeting at some point. It all changes. There's no certainty any of the greats would have been so in other times. When Petty won 200 races, they raced a lot more and against lesser competition. He wouldn't get anywhere near 200 wins now. Earnhardt probably wouldn't have 7. Gordon may not have won anything in the 60s & 70s. We already know Gordon would have had more championships if the point system didn't change. JJ would have less. Beyond speculation and belief in our driver, we just don't know. One thing I do like when ranking a driver is success with different crew chiefs. Earnhardt and Gordon both had it. JJ hasn't.
Anyone remember an impromptu press conference with dale, sr, and dave marcus? They pretty much blamed the recent deaths, at the time, on the full face helmets. Something about the extra weight of the helmet. Drivers were getting their necks broken. The HANS device was optional at the time.
I love reading everything about our hero racer Dale Earnhardt Sr! My hubby and I loved watching Dale Earnhardt Sr! Even our service dog loved being with Jerry and me watching Dale Earnhardt Sr!
I remember a story I heard years ago, in Daytona, for the 500, owners and drivers were bringing their boats in to dock, and I think it was Felix Sabatis said he was on his boat and all of a sudden a big shadow was cast over his boat. He went to the window, looked out and Dale's yacht had just pulled in next to him.
Such a legend 😎 Dale Sr. was my racing inspiration 🙏🏽 Peaceful Journey Legend! 😎 Feb 18, 2001 was both the most Iconic race for me and the most gut punching reality slap! Love Dale Sr so very much! I'm English and in 2001 NASCAR hadn't reached a huge number of us over here still! I had become aware of the cult following of DE3 in the States and remember willing him over the winning line in 98' being a massive sport's fan I'm touched deeply by all such stories! So I'm from that moment a big fan of DE! never give up, rewards will come if you work hard and keep faith! Etc etc his story is a perfect example to follow and learn from! I lost my dad also age 49! A massive heart attack caused due to a congenital heart disease passed from female's to males down the family line! It had taken my nan nan (my dad's mum) in 1970! Knowledge of disease etc had not yet advanced to understand the particular heart defect or the genetics or whatever that will show congenital passing on of health issues! Outwardly my dad was quite the specimen! Lol didn't he know it too! I joined the military at 17 and still was some 7 years later! I was serving with fellow NATO forces in Bosnia, I was commanding a forward CP (Communication Post) actually a REBRO or rebroadcast station! Where in operational zones a requirement for the sending of radio communications between HQ's and deployment troops separated by high altitude terrain and the like! An armoured vehicle would be positioned on a high point that allows unobstructed radio signals to all area's of operation and a duty of 24hours relaying messages is where I was at when my squadron Sergeant Major received a call from our RHQ back in Germany a family member had tried to call me to give me news dad was critical! My Sgt major was also my friend and had no way to get anything done to have me underway back to England! Didn't find out til I returned to my squadron HQ following morning by which time another phone call meant I was finding out that I had now lost my dad! Please forgive me for taking this convoluted route in making my point known! I was only a few weeks passed my 24th birthday! My heartfelt emotions with DE3 are obvious! To Dale Jr', I will never be able to stop your hurting, unfortunately! But hopefully by reading my message your understanding that the acuteness of pain will ease, not cease! but lessen to a manageable level but always have our dull ache of absence and missing our dad's! I pray your stronger than I found myself in my abilities to deal with the loss! Think I'm sure you are! I'm thankful for the fact of being allowed to be aware of your father's achievements and witnessing his long awaited Daytona triumph in 98! Which albeit through heart breaking tragedy has brought your own inspiring story of dealing with losing a dad to my attention. And which in turn gave me strength to hold onto and not let courage fail me! Thankyou and hold fast! always.

I went to about 10 12 races a year. Big earnhardt fan, Jeff changed the sport more than most people will ever know. Before Jeff drivers would sort of ride for 400 miles and race the last 100. Jeff ran every lap like a qualifying lap, he could and flat wheeled his car wide open every lap, rather it was at Richmond Bristol Charlotte Darlington or Talladega. That got under all the drivers skin i know. They knew you had to go right from the start because he would be gone. Dale, rusty and the rest had to play head games because that boy came to race. He wasn't intimidated by nobody. This coming from a lifelong diehard still today earnhardt fan.
I could listen to this for hours and hours. I miss the way NASCAR was before Brian France Jr. decided to destroy it. I haven't watched a NASCAR race since Jeff Gordon retired and I wasn't even a big fan of his.
I was never much of a Big E fan, always rooted for Mark Martin. However, the older I get (45 now), the more I enjoy hearing stories about Sr. One of my dearest, best friends who has since passed away was a huge Sr fan and we we're going to the Texas race the year Dale died. We had a good chance to possibly meet Dale or at least some of the team (he was a big fan of Chocolate, too) because of some local business connections my wife had but when Dale died at Daytona, that of course never happened. I think about that every year at Daytona 500 time and at the Spring Texas race time.

I still miss the Richard Petty vs David Pearson. Two completely different looking cars, yet as fast as each other. That's why they are 1 & 2 in the win dept.
David Digital David in those historic times never forget when Sterling won Daytona 94&95 it hasn’t been done since!!
I love these guys! Sending Prayers for Dale & family and all of NASCAR family!
Love listening to Dirty Mo Media & enjoying these shared great stories of way back then.
There was a post race interview with Dale where he said, they call me the Intimidator? Have you seen all of the red paint on the back bumper of my black car? He was smiling, he seemed proud that Jeff was learning to race like he did.
As a Dale Sr fan I can remember him giving Jeff the ultimate compliment. Ray had just left as his crew chief and Jeff won almost immediately. After the race Sr said something to this effect “ I guess Jeff can win races by himself”
It's AWESOME that you all can bring back memories that made you mad, at the time but, you can laugh about them now!!
LOVE the stories about your Dad and you. Was ALWAYS an Earnhardt fan... the whole family!! ✌ Jr. Be safe and 🤙
The only other time I have seen anything as amazing as watching dale race was watching Dale Jr win Daytona not long after he passed. Dale Jr has brought honor to his dads memory and In my mine his looking down on him a very proud father. Been Dale Jr fan since he started Winston Cup.Dale Jr is a master at Daytona and Talledega like his dad was. Dale Sr,Dale Jr,Bill Elliot ,Rusty Wallace,Richard Petty,Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart,Mark Martin etc . That era of racing was just so amazing and I look forward to seeing these new guys get to that level of intensity and rivalry. And their are some great new talented guys . 🤘😎🤘
God bless Dale, & all his family and friends. What an era.
Not long enough, need more stories about Dale Sr. Lol
his dad threw a shoe at him LOL
Oh yeah yeah
Lol thats not enough. Love hearing storys about Sr.
No matter how many times I've heard these stories they never get boring. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Boys!!
This brought tears to my eyes... man I miss the way things used to be.
Highly Skeptical me 2
Great stories. We miss you racing. All the Best to you both in the broadcast booth.
4:08 the excitement in Dale Jr’s voice. Little did he know.
Know what?
@@sludge4125 Sr was pissed so he threw his Shoe at him
@@DixietheGoat9 Thanks, Eric!
My take on Jeff: From 1995 to present, absolute GOAT. I miss him on the track a lot.
Um Dale Sr is the Goat
@@owenparish1793 false
@@muddynutz ok well even Jeff said it
Great job. Love hearing stories from the drivers. Makes me feel like I’m there
In ‘97, Jeff was an event like Dwight Gooden in ‘85 or Tiger in ‘00. The hype before and after for regular races was amazing.
I could listen to these stories all damn day! Thanks for sharing.
No one has gone from supervillain to one of the most loved guys in NASCAR faster that Gordon, he really is an awesome dude.
What legends. Wish Nascar would blow up again... I still watch every weekend with my dad.
This is awesome. Love all the old stories on Dale Jr download
As you are (Gordon) explaining racing against #3...lol...I can see his grin!...damn I miss those good days of racing!..🤙🏼🇺🇸🥺
Last time I saw Earnhardt senior race at Atlanta . He lapped the field . Never seen anything like it at any race I’ve ever been to , to this day. That was once in a lifetime thing was to actually see him race. That guy was larger than life amazingly talented person.🤘😎🤘
Always balls to the wall
Both those stories were awesome! I am so happy I was able to hear them!
Jimmy Johnson is corporate and bland Dale Sr. was a real guy.
Dale Sr did do commentary in the 90s for Busch races. It was really bad lol.
Jimmie has earned 7 chase championships, only 3 real championships.
Redslayer86 I’ve never understood the purpose of redacting someone’s championships because of the points system
God, it goes without saying how much I miss Dale !! Drafting with the angels now.
Holy crap that is f'n hilarious! Miss your dad.
Love This, Wish they had gone on for hours with Dale Sr stories !
That is why he was so great. LOL More stories please.
I cant get enough of this kind of stuff.
I agree....I could listen to Dale stories all day long.
Gooood stuff! Man I love to hear those behind the scenes stories from the greats!
"the Sierra / Papyrus NASCAR RACING simulator/game"
Wow does that bring back memories!
@@ThisIsWilliamPhelps iRacing is the modern day version
We called it 'the virus from Papyrus' ..game was so damn buggy :)
The Sierra game, and NASCAR Thunder 2003 & 2004 were great games!
I can see how Jr loves hearing these stories
Us Earnhardt Sr fans always playfully referred to Gordon as "Jeffey" especially when he drove "the rainbow car". ;-)
Dale SR mostly saw the rear bumper of the rainbow car
My dad called him "Pretty Boy" till 2002
Still raibow boy at our house, lol
I 100% Believe the Sport Would be in a Different Place if Dale was Still Alive ......He Would Have Rejected a lot of the Nonsense Over the Past 10-12 Years ......
If Richard Petty was still racing, he'd still be King. In fact, he's still the King of NASCAR.
yeah, like the HANS and Hutchins devices.
Man I literally just got this out of my mouth before reading this comment
I always hated Gordon back then but damn what a nice guy, he's so cool!
I love reading everything about our hero racer Dale Earnhardt Sr! My hubby and I loved watching Dale Earnhardt Sr! Even our service dog loved being with Jerry and me watching Dale Earnhardt Sr!
Miss Jeff on the track. He raced hard and clean, as true champion and a gentleman…WonderBoy!
Feb 18, 2001 was both the most Iconic race for me and the most gut punching reality slap!
Love Dale Sr so very much!
When he ran (#5) Terry off at the finish my brother didn’t talk to me for 3 months!!! He was so mad! 🤬
laughed so hard at gordon talking about ray saying he'll never learn.. lmao
Wish this was 3 hours long instead of 10 minutes.
I love stories. I never cared about nascar when watching with my grandfather but he loved #3 ... now they’re both gone and I wished I knew that I needed to be more present.
Man, Dale Sr. was a Competitor... what a man.
8:26 Basically how kids play. Creativity and passion for fun. Pretty impressive to maintain that in your adult years.
Oh how I miss these drivers... racing just isn't the same with all our favorite drivers... I miss the old nascar, less radio more drivers in full control of what happens... So glad to hear these stores...
Thankyou and hold fast! always.
I’ll never forget watching Jeff’s booger car fly by the screen when the announcers done the “turn up the speakers” laps. Golden days of NASCAR.
God I love these senior stories.
Earnhardt Sr. was a hard racer but fun person. You hear the stories of the funny times drivers had with him makes me wish I could have raced and laughed with him
Love hearing all these stories.
Great stories, i wish Jr could’ve talked more but either way this is way better then watching the current races
Great video guys, have a awesome holiday and new year!
I think for 2019 you need to upload the whole podcast in video form on TH-cam.
Love watching you guys, I feel like I'm sitting in there with y'all!
man i miss those days of nascar....wish dale was still with us. only sports person i get sad when i think about.
I could listen to these stories all day long about dale sr
I love the stories about Dale Earnhardt
Man I want NASCAR back!!! But I know it will never be the same..😔
Stories are awesome.
Dale is a good story teller
I was never much of a Big E fan, always rooted for Mark Martin. However, the older I get (45 now), the more I enjoy hearing stories about Sr.
One of my dearest, best friends who has since passed away was a huge Sr fan and we we're going to the Texas race the year Dale died. We had a good chance to possibly meet Dale or at least some of the team (he was a big fan of Chocolate, too) because of some local business connections my wife had but when Dale died at Daytona, that of course never happened. I think about that every year at Daytona 500 time and at the Spring Texas race time.
