    I'm also a Shrimp technician that is assigned in different shrimp farms here in the Philippines by a international feed company. This video helps me a lot especially this days when we have problem in our client's pond during their molting stage. I am planning to seek an opportunity soon overseas in this industry.

    Dear Jose, thank you for your lovely videos. I am a novice where shrimp culture is concerned but I am passionate and have my own farm. I have been asking locals and watching videos to educate myself as much as I can. Though I face a new problem every time I will not loose hope. We have plastic lined ponds 1000sq meters with a 8inch central gravity drain. For aeration we have developed our own venturies that work very effectively at a depth of 6feet. I have no problems where aeration is concerned.
    #)Somehow I have been victim to white feaces in the last few crops. It throws the entire growth cycle for a toss. What precautionary measures can I take to avoid it and are there any home remedies I can apply (tamarind water mixed in feed ? Garlic mixed in feed ? Buttermilk in feed ? Some even say mangrove leaf reduction works well ?)
    #)About the moulting in lay man terms we see the moon cycle and expect a moulting or even if there is heavy water exchange. As you said we do reduce the feed but only around 10-20%. And as a lay man I would not understand what exact stage the moulting process is at. I would be greatful if you could explain it stage wise, what to expect what to see in the check trays etc. What to look for. Here we just press the shrimp and see if it's soft and if the thorn on the head bends it's moulted.
    #)Somehow my shrimp are moulting all the time. Because I give at least a 30%water exchange every week. I don't know when was the last time I saw a hard shrimp. Also if a shrimp moults in stress out of its regular cycle does it still grow ? If yes is controlled stress(sudden water exchange 30-40% advisable ?)
    I would be greatful if you can help me with my questions.
    Regards.
    Rohaan M

    do we need to weight the molted skeleton in each day ? do you have some kind of formula by comparison weight from skeleton molted and total quantity shrimp, master ?

    Can we give minerals on all the feed cycle of shrimps pn a daily basis ( how many times) .Will this improve the health & survivability of shrimp against WSSV & white gut problem

    • @joseantoniosantosdom
      @joseantoniosantosdom 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you use good quality feed and your water is balanced in terms of ions, there is no reason to give additional minerals. There is no evidence that shrimp benefits from added minerals. Depending what these minerals are, it can even be counter productive. There are specifically formulated feed additives like organic acids and probiotics that you rather use. But nothing replaces good ponds and water preparation, management, feeding, monitoring for good health.

  • @phannhattruong2440
    @phannhattruong2440 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sir, I have a question. Possibly not all shrimp in a pond will molt at the same time so that it would be quite difficult to modify feeding regime followed the feed demand pattern as you showed. So my question is how to trigger a "healthy" massive molting in intensive shrimp ponds? Thank you so much in advanced.

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't need to do that but if you need to transfer shrimp from a pond to another, or a final harvest where they need to be all hard you can induce them to molt all together

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  ปีที่แล้ว

      You 1) do a heavy water exchange of 50% or more, 2) apply 50 kg/ha of hydrated lime followed by 3) 25L/ha of H2O2 (35% strength). They will molt within 24h, then wait 3 days to harvest or transfer

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi , shrimp take these minerals from the water, there is no need to give in the feed. Just use good quality feed and check the ion levels in the water - if needed you need to add to the water.

    • @hashtagfish8542

      haha, the move like that as part of their "escape plan" - the predator thinks they can only move forward, but they are faster jumping backwards :)

    Thanks for the information.. Can you please let us know that, is there any difference in check tray monitoring interval (2 hours) between natural pond and high intensive biofloc tank with a capacity of 3 lakh litres water and 150000 shrimps. I mean need we to check the Tray in 1 hour because there are more shrimps in lesser area..

    • @hashtagfish8542
      @hashtagfish8542  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Fasal, firstly it is important to have a few trays per tank / pond for monitoring. About the timing, I would stick to checking after 2 hours. It is important not to change the time to check once you start.
