      His style was influenced by sportscaster Bill Stern, in particularly the lengthy pauses and pent-up delivery.

    I am an auto mechanic for a living but every shop I ever worked had the " Air Tool Rule " for Paul Harvey,, when Paul came on no one used air tools because they were loud and the compressor would come and be even louder. During lunch, we would gather around the shop radio at lunch and listen to Paul's longer lunchtime broadcast. Some times customers would sit around too and listen, they pretty much knew if Paul was on nothing was getting worked on. I miss those days greatly. A true American Icon Paul Harvey is.

    The only people who put him down are his jealous peers in the media. We love him and that is the rest of the story.

    • @Rextrent
      @Rextrent 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Did Mr Harvey really have any peers? Especially these days, most people in mainstream media march obediently in step behind a Pied Piper brandishing a squeaky wheel. They see those who are not mesmerized in this way as a threat to their status and a slur on their choice of the busy path on which they travel.
      Paul Harvey encouraged and admonished, because he cared, through actual news stories and he served a Master not in a rat race but in a higher place.
      Not everyone can be Billy Graham or Paul Harvey or a true maverick of earnest hard-working character who dares to take on an all-powerful Swamp crawling with deadly beasts and the innumerable spawn of the original serpent.
      They have chosen wrongly and are jealous of the good ones who strive to do what's right.
      Sadly, they don't believe so they don't understand repentance is a good thing, and they keep striking out in fear and anger.
      It's a negative news story and they don't report on it, because they are the news.
      Thanks, Paul Harvey!

    • @kirstyi7860
      @kirstyi7860 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Rextrent No, Mr. Rextrent. Thank you! How beautifully you phrased that because you share the same Spirit that Mr. Harvey did and that I joyously do. The wisdom that only comes from the deepest understanding of the glory of our Great God. He has chosen your President for such a time as this, and I want you to know that we are praying for him in the UK and around the world, and for your military.
      He allowed us to Brexit and the great freedom that gives us all, yes even we in Scotland, is glorious! We were being regulated and controlled so badly our fishing villages in the NE almost died but we have our waters back now, and we're not scared that your President will take them from us.
      Your President went in to the White House whispering God's name but the man who resides there now, shouts His Name, and there is a Great Awakening coming. The fields are white for harvest, maybe for the last time.
      Just know we pray for him and for your great and good country and that many parts of Europe are embracing their own national pride!
      God Bless Scotland!
      God Bless America!

    I miss Paul Harvey's voice and I miss Billy Graham's voice as well, these two men commanded the English language like no other has done before. These two made you want to listen to what they had to say and believe what they were saying. That is truly missing in today's world. God bless those two men, I hope their is a heaven , cause I know their there.

    Paul Harvy, a solid man that had the drop on important lifestyle issues. Always loved listening to him tell it like it really was, just the facts! Grew up listening to his broadcast. He painted a clear picture of' what you need. Was a fine gentleman from a different time. Guys like Paul are special to find! Thank you! RIP.

    As a young boy my mother every morning had the radio on while getting ready for work. I could not help but listen and try hard to understand his story's. One story stood out for me and to this day 2021 I still remember it as tho it was then 50 years ago. That story was about John James Audubon. I cannot find it anywhere. An incredible story indeed. Thank you Paul Harvey, you are missed. R.I.P.

    Grew up on him. He was, and will always be a patriot. He was the GREAT communicator before Ronald Reagan assumed the title, and I can say that as a life long Iowan, from where our president got his start in radio. He was a visionary, and a truly good man. MANY on the television today would do well to revisit his broadcasts, and learn from them... Good Day!

    Paul Harvey and Art Bell were absolute masters of grabbing your attention and having you glued to your radio in an era when TV ruled and the internet was on the rise. I don't think we'll see many like them again.

    I'm glad I found this awesome video. Paul Harvey was such a big part of my life from childhood to my adult years. I had some interactions with Mr. Harvey over the years and was even invited once to sit across the desk from him while doing a live lunchtime broadcast! It was such an honor and a memory I have always cherished. ------- So here's The Rest Of My Story ... I actually asked the doctor in the delivery room during my son's birth if he could change the radio so we could hear Paul Harvey as they delivered my first child. LOL...

    World needs this man more now than ever. Truly powerful human. The voice of many generations. Radio was generally on in the kitchen or laundry room of my grandparents home. His five minute 'rest of the story' were always something else. His voice brings great amounts of nostalgia.

    As a child, I can remember being in the car with my father, he had an Illinois Railroad pocket watch. He would check the time and turn the radio on for Paul Harvey, he listened to Paul Harvey every day. He got such pleasure out of listening, I remember being afraid that Mr. Harvey was old, what would my dad do if Mr. Harvey passed away. Well, a long story shortened, me and my brothers all listened to him. My dad passed away long before Mr. Harvey did but I still have some of the best memories in my life of being with my dad and listening to "The Rest of the Story."
