I'm a 73 Year old Vietnam Veteran I've seen Life and I've seen death and there are too many stories like this one and still cry like a baby when I see this video.
Thank you. I'm a kid at only 68. So, I don't feel so bad about reaching for the tissues. It hits like a full assault - but not with artillery - emotional bombardment.
Its okay to cry no matter if your tough or not its the feeling you get that brings you to tears. Also my grandpa is a Vietnam veteran. One last thing Thank You for your Service.
Thank you for what you did, my great grandpa was a vietnam vet as well and he worked with the nukes and stuff. He unfortunately passed in 2007. Thank you for your service.
Thank you sir💪
Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
Im a 47 year old hard working man, never miss work, tough as nails...This song reduces me to tears every single time I hear it
Me too brother. Me too. Tears in my eyes right this minute. This song kicks my ass. Ever hear "Concrete Angel" by Sara Evens. Oooof. Right in the water works!
ThatTruckin Drifter
I only found the version by Martina McBride. It was extremely sad but I don’t know if it was the song you were referring too. Letty
@@ChiquitaSalseraOne ooops yup. Martina McBride is the right one. I done misremembered! Good catch.
Heard it dozens of times and still not immune to the allergic reaction in my eyes 😓
31 210lbs union laborer covered literally top of my head to my ankles in tattoos. The lump in my throat feels like it's ready to rip through my skin.
This song needs to come with a "gonna make you cry like a bitch" warning even if you've heard it 100 times
You said it. Gets me every single time no matter how many times I watch this. I even tried to see if I could watch it without shedding one tear. Didn't work. Too real.
yep and not even 5 min in lol
Yeah, but that would have to labeled on 90% of country songs, which is how I like it. Life ain’t all sunshine and joy; and country music is there for those times.
@@hitandruncommentor Too true. Life sucks much of the time. There's little joy in comparison I've seen. That's why I gravitate to rock and some country. Not the popular garbage rap and pop that people listen to today.
Every time
Aint it strange, how someone you have never met can wright a song about exactly how you feel. it's like getting kicked in the heart..again
well it's Allson Krauss - her voice alone will stir your soul
All support
Sorry bro
I hear you.
I was cheated on while deployed and this song makes me cry every time I hear it. I def drank away a lot of my 20s as a result of depression. Thank you for your heart-felt reaction.
Brother same situation here but I'm on my 60s .. don't let her win.. hope you are ok
@jamesbranham2217 I'm much better now. Therapy and self-reflection works wonders
Same.
I did the same. But i unfortunately found out and could not let that ember burn out. I found him and i payed the price. I'm a free man now.
@@nealcampbell3190 I'm glad I didn't do anything crazy. I can't imagine if I had ended up in prison over that chick
The first line of this song, "She put him out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette" is in my opinion one of the most emotionally wrenching song lyrics ever written. It hits me in the soul every time I hear it.
You are so right. Written by Bill Anderson and Jon Randall
An extremely poignant lyric like a knife pressing into the heart at a time you expected it the least!

So true...
I have herd of this song before but never listened to it this is the first time and This old Marine of 68 years of age bawled his eyes out.

Thank you for your service💕💕
@@a.j.9797 Your very welcome.
Thank you for your service sir, God bless you.
Me too 😭
Man, Alison Krauss's voice is just angelic.
You got that right!!
Anyone else think she looks like Christina Applegate?
Always.
Sushi: "shout-out to all our military 😀"
Me: 👀 ooh girl, you don't know what coming up...
Exactly what I thought when she said it.
I said those words out loud literally when she said that.
That opening line is epic! "She put him out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette"
Sushi: "I love military videos, shout out to all our military I'm excited for this video!"
Brad, Alison, and the song: "Are you sure about that?"
Hold my whiskey bottle............
this song was named Duet of the Year at the awards show that year, and, in my opinion, there hasn't been a better duet released since. Even to this day.
Not sure theres ever been a better duet released. Ricky Schroeder put that video/story together. Did a fantastic job, i thought....
I fully agree with your opinion, Allison Krause, with her voice was the perfect choice for this song. Emmy Lou Harris said her voice is so soft, but it will carry across the ocean...
Didn't realize I had already commented on this 3 months ago, sorry about that, but as you see my opinion remains true
as a veteran i will say this is a constant and the suicide rate reflects it
Thank you for your service!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Some women are just not worth loving sir.
Thank you for your service.
Unfortunately , the words you spoke are true , true way too often. God Bless our Men and Women , that wear a uniform , any uniform , to keep our Nation , Cities , Towns and Streets safe...🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@prashant_kerung_thegim0709 .Please remember , there is two way traffic on that street....That is not a designated one way road...Unfortunately !!! Stay safe.
Very true. I watched a few guys get those dear John letters and saw how it would effect them. Only one took his life over it. And one is way too many.
I've been in health care for 18 years, I've seen some of the worst of humanity and never blinked. This song reduces me to tears, every single time. Your reaction was so powerful, I could almost feel your heart breaking during it.
Brad is the best storyteller in country music, and Allison is an angel. She has probably the most utilized background singer voice ever, but has wonderful solo music.
Broken heart killed him, Guilt killed her the alcohol just helped it along.
Rigidity, pride, and over commitment to a behavioral script, more like.
If you can't bend enough to let go, you better learn to forgive.
Unless, you know, dying with your face in a bottle is your idea of a good life.
@@peterrose5373 ....from a cheater. You're never getting into the HOF Pete!!!

Sushi : Shout out to all our military I'm excited for this video.
Me: Waits a few seconds for the hard left turn.
Hahaha I literally said "you're gonna take that back real quick" out loud.
Thought the same thing said to myself you don't know and you ain't ready for what's coming
Girl really has no idea what she’s talkin about over half the time. Smh
😂😂😂😂😂
I was completely saying out loud that it gets real dark real quick.
If his song doesn’t move you, You have never loved and lost or had a broken heart, This song hits right at your soul and I’m not ashamed to say it’s caused a tear or two every time I’ve heard it.
Me too
Just watched for at least the 20th time, and still tear up.

Even when i was a kid, before i had a relationship or really even cared about girls, this song always hit me.
So true i miss my best friend lost him to a similar situation after years in the desert he came home to a three mounth old it was to much 4him ride that harley in the sky bro forever young we will meet again some day
The lyrics in this song are so beautiful... which is part of why it makes me teary every damn time. But seriously, 'Life is short, but this time it was bigger than the strenth [they] had to get up off their knees.' That line just cuts me.
37 Year old Army vet with two tours in Afghanistan and I cry like a 5 year old with a skinned knee every time I hear this song.
Thank you for your service, sir.
I spent 15 years trying to drink the pain away. One night I put a pistol to my head. Pulled the trigger. It didn't go off. I woke to God's love. Found a psychiatrist and doing better. Suicide is a real thing. A note from a former marine. It gets better with help.
Hey I know this is old and hope your still doing ok but I'm proud of you for getting help and seeing the beauty in life
I'm so grateful to God that you realised His love for you! I hope you're walking well, and living in His grace and mercy!
God damn that was either some really shitty ammo, or a really shitty pistol...
Thank you for my freedom 🇺🇸 Never give up brother.
God is good. #Jesus
It is literally impossible to listen to this song and not cry😭
Listen I'm 32 years old and when I listen to this song I be crying like a dame baby
I get angry, that bitch had the hide to go to his funeral.
If u dont ur not human.
I didn't cry....
My eyes dried up from all the tears.
I’ve never cried to this song.

I had a conversation with an ex drill sergeant one time randomly at a DMV and he told me a story about being overseas and coming home to his wife pregnant with his best friend. He wasn't sour. He moved on to have 3 kids with a new wife and was very happy. He inspires me.
Everytime we came back from a six month deployment, there would be at least one pregnant spouse that was less than six months pregnant. Conversely, a good chunk of the deployed indulged in extramarital affairs them selves. Humans get lonely. Humans are fallible.
Damn onion cutting ninjas, get me EVERY TIME.
Yeah, "Life is like an onion", it makes you cry!
Never heard that one lol
When you said ‘wow that’s heavy’ at the beginning, I was like ohhhh boy, batten the hatches. Thanks for sharing your story.
That is probably the saddest song in country music, which is saying a lot.
@Shelley May have you listened to He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones. Very emotional song.
Alyssa lies ... but yeah..
Thunder rolls by Garth Brooks
Highway don’t care
Batman Wins, the first time I ever heard that song was on the radio about 35 years ago. The DJ introduced it as the saddest country song ever, and I thought the name didn’t sound all that sad. Then I heard it, and realized he was right.
When you hear Brad sing , you are also listening to his guitar work . He is a top of the line picker .
I love this, you let your real feelings out, the wall dropped for a few seconds. i love that. i love it when people are they real self, AWESOME!!!
Alison's last name is pronounced like "house," but substitute a Kr for the h. And her voice is pronounced like that of an angel's. She has 27 Grammys to her credit, which only goes to show that they simply can't award enough trophies to honor her sublime talent.
I love how your true emotions come out in your reactions, shows vulnerability and compassion.
Guys in the military experience this way too often. I can’t even imagine!
So optimistic to start the video until she saw where she cheated on him. Hit her like a ton of bricks. She couldn't hide it
The look on her face!
She damn near didn't talk for the rest of the song, like she got sucked in
Guilty cry first. Mgtow all the way.
Apart in life, together in death. Sometimes when you love someone that never loved you to begin with, makes songs like this hit home. This is a person anthem of mine. Makes me wonder every time I hear it. Thanks for the honest reaction
Someone instilled in you a deep sense of patriotism. As a US Marine Corps vet I hereby declare you a member of the military veteran family.
...
That’s a very special honor! Can I join too? Is that too forward to ask?!
Yeah. This is definitely one of those songs that makes me cry every time.
I love Brad and Allison and I cry everytime I hear this song. It breaks my heart.
Girl. I have seen this video a million times and cry every time.
i loved watching your expressing through out the song shows a compassion of you country from Australia with tears great song
The emotional impact of this song is primal.
This is probably one of the most emotional driven songs I've ever heard. Still to this day brings a tear to my eye
An incredible, genuine, human reaction. That song gets me in the feels every time I hear/see it. Thank you so much for being real and vulnerable.
You’d be shocked on how common this really is in our military.
No i wouldn't, 4 years Navy 75-79 Aircraft Electrician A-7's, Lemoore, CA. Every 6 months a different cruise would start, so 2 squadrons would leave and be attachedto the ship as it went Wes-Pac. The crowd of women at the club(s), mostly the EM Club on base would change with amazingly similar timing of the squadrons that were leaving and those coming back from deployment... as Mickey Spillane would say, "Its a mystery to me"....
@@randycrocker9459 Yes. Indeed. Similar circumstances from my experience on twice yearly deployments the UK with the Air Force. I never went on a (2-4 month) deployment, and came back, and did NOT hear of a man coming home to an empty house/apartment, wife having left them. Its never the dramatic confrontation like in the video. They just leave. Being Air Force, we deploy with more females the other branches. And no, I have never, ever heard of a female airman coming back to an empty house. No judgement, just an observation from my experience. 13 years active duty.
@@ckmoore101 yeah we are dogs to be sure but not as cold and mean as women are. Like jeff foxworthy said, guys are simple to understand they want 2 things, see something naked and something to drink thats got alcohol in it. Women are ,well my dad said it best any man that says he knows or understands women is a damn liar...
Jody is real
Randy Crocker, that reminds me of “Talkin’ to the Wrong Man” by Michael Martin Murphy.
At the start she all"i love military videos" I'm thinking "girl you about to die inside:
Too Sushi; Your reactions are so pure and true to the song. Thank you for sharing something you have tried to hide for so long.
I haven't watched this reaction yet, but I bet she cries. Welcome to country music.
I saw her energy at the start of the video and started feeling sad that she will start crying in minutes..
Heck.. Last 6 years after listening to this numerous times, still this one still well up my eyes..
CAN'T HELP FEELING THE SAME REACTION YOU HAD AND IT TELLS ME YOU HAVE A SWEET TENDER HEART IT SAYS ALOT ABOUT YOU AND IT ADDS TO YOUR BEAUTY. ❤
Your face is so expressive!, it started with happy anticipation to shock to disgust then anger. All right at first . Now Your heart break and tears. WOW! You didn’t have to say a word. Your emotions tell the story.
There's nothing wrong with shedding a tear over a song like this. This song personally gets to me every single time I hear it. Another song that gets to me everytime I hear it is, my parents favorite song, and it is called "forever and ever amen" by Randy Travis. You might want to take a listen to it if you haven't already. It might even make for a great reaction video.
I spent 6 years in the Navy. I can't tell you how many of my shipmates had similar homecomings. Sad.
Thanks for your service brother

I was like "Oh God, She's gonna cry."

We all do!
If this song doesn’t hit you in the feels, you’re not human.
Alison Krauss brings such a divine emotion to this song, its already heavy enough but her voice is on another stratosphere.
This song is high art. The emotions do not fade but increase each time you hear it. Drinking doesn't kill the pain. It just stores it for later.
I didn't request this song but I felt so guilty after you said how excited you were knowing what was coming. And the look of betrayal on your face when he opened the door😭
Me too! I was like, she has no idea😂😭
Cheating isnt a mistake, its a choice. Think before you act.
So true. My ex’s cheating ended our 27 year marriage.

And the little girl smiled as she turned away to leave. Awesome.
oh my gosh, no i'm not crying

i cry every time i hear this song
This song hits hard every time I hear it. After about 3-4 months of me being deployed to the desert, I found out my wife was 2 months pregnant. I was sent home early to handle the situation and when I finally got home I found that the other man had been living in my house and wearing my clothes the entire time I was gone.
Sorry to hear about that man. Hope you’re doing alright now…
Wrf im a em a Vetern to im here for you Bro
This song gets me everytime I listen to it! 😭😭😭😭
I could tell the moment he opened the door that you related by the look on your face. It's a look of disappointment, sadness, frustration, anger and hurt...all together. I've seen this video a couple dozen times and I still tear up every time I watch it.
I cry right along with you...and God bless the people who still has the love in their hearts to feel the this loss and sadness !

“Then” from Brad Paisley guarantee you’ll love it
I was in the VA psych ward after I came home, that's when my ex served me divorce papers. Military can be very hard on everyone.

I've caught my wife crying to this song many times this one and concrete angels
Ever wonder why so many veterans are homeless and drink? Ever wonder if maybe this happened more than anyone could imagine? This song still brings me to tears. Only a few songs ever have. But what is worse is how true this song is.
Thank you for sharing this you have beautiful soul ! Very moving.
You have such a caring heart. I love watching your reactions.
Fun Facts:
The main male character is Rick Schroeder, who was a child actor. He directed this video.
The little girl at the end is Schroeder’s daughter, Cambrie Schroeder.
Jon Randall, the song’s writer, was going through a time where he was divorcing from Lorrie Morgan (previously married to Keith Whitley and Sammy Kershaw), had lost a song writing contract and a record deal. He was struggling with alcoholism and pursuing sexual desires. During a conversation with his manager, the manager told him, “Sometimes you have to put the bottle to your head and pull the trigger.” This song was born from that line.
Kristin Keiner cool fact. Thanks for sharing.
This was a stunning reaction. The thoughts shared afterward was excellent.
This song makes me cry almost everytime
You're a beautiful soul. It takes a lot of guts to post something so profoundly sad and relatable that moved you so much. A lot of us that were aware of the song at the time had a similar reaction. Heartbreak is the worst. Thank you.
I’ve heard this song 1000 times and never once teared up until I saw your reaction! I’ve watched lots of different people do reaction videos to many different songs. I must say, your reactions are the most genuine that I’ve seen.

We gotta stop recommending sad songs. But yeah, this song is awesome. I concur
Definitely a must!!

I’ll probably add more comment as the video goes farther into the song. But when you start by saying that you like these military videos, you’ve already won me over. I served from 1970 to 1975. When I came home, as I walked through the airport, I was spit on and called a baby killer. I never killed a baby. I served my country, and thought I should be be allowed to be proud of it. Thank you for offering me (at least, I hope you are) some dignity. I think I am right, because I’ve watched many of your previous posts. I’m a 70 year old white guy, that loves what you do. I hope that’s OK. Please do more of what you do. THANK YOU!
Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Much love honor and respect to you and your family.
Sir you are honored. You did what you believed was right. I’m sorry you went through that. War is bad enough. Know you are loved and cared for by the majority. I love and honor our vets and service men and women!
