I'm a 73 Year old Vietnam Veteran I've seen Life and I've seen death and there are too many stories like this one and still cry like a baby when I see this video.
Thank you. I'm a kid at only 68. So, I don't feel so bad about reaching for the tissues. It hits like a full assault - but not with artillery - emotional bombardment.
Its okay to cry no matter if your tough or not its the feeling you get that brings you to tears. Also my grandpa is a Vietnam veteran. One last thing Thank You for your Service.
Thank you for what you did, my great grandpa was a vietnam vet as well and he worked with the nukes and stuff. He unfortunately passed in 2007. Thank you for your service.

I had a conversation with an ex drill sergeant one time randomly at a DMV and he told me a story about being overseas and coming home to his wife pregnant with his best friend. He wasn't sour. He moved on to have 3 kids with a new wife and was very happy. He inspires me.
Everytime we came back from a six month deployment, there would be at least one pregnant spouse that was less than six months pregnant. Conversely, a good chunk of the deployed indulged in extramarital affairs them selves. Humans get lonely. Humans are fallible.

I've been in health care for 18 years, I've seen some of the worst of humanity and never blinked. This song reduces me to tears, every single time. Your reaction was so powerful, I could almost feel your heart breaking during it.
The lyrics in this song are so beautiful... which is part of why it makes me teary every damn time. But seriously, 'Life is short, but this time it was bigger than the strenth [they] had to get up off their knees.' That line just cuts me.
I spent 15 years trying to drink the pain away. One night I put a pistol to my head. Pulled the trigger. It didn't go off. I woke to God's love. Found a psychiatrist and doing better. Suicide is a real thing. A note from a former marine. It gets better with help.

Batman Wins, the first time I ever heard that song was on the radio about 35 years ago. The DJ introduced it as the saddest country song ever, and I thought the name didn’t sound all that sad. Then I heard it, and realized he was right.
Alison's last name is pronounced like "house," but substitute a Kr for the h. And her voice is pronounced like that of an angel's. She has 27 Grammys to her credit, which only goes to show that they simply can't award enough trophies to honor her sublime talent.
The emotional impact of this song is primal.

No i wouldn't, 4 years Navy 75-79 Aircraft Electrician A-7's, Lemoore, CA. Every 6 months a different cruise would start, so 2 squadrons would leave and be attachedto the ship as it went Wes-Pac. The crowd of women at the club(s), mostly the EM Club on base would change with amazingly similar timing of the squadrons that were leaving and those coming back from deployment... as Mickey Spillane would say, "Its a mystery to me"....
@@randycrocker9459 Yes. Indeed. Similar circumstances from my experience on twice yearly deployments the UK with the Air Force. I never went on a (2-4 month) deployment, and came back, and did NOT hear of a man coming home to an empty house/apartment, wife having left them. Its never the dramatic confrontation like in the video. They just leave. Being Air Force, we deploy with more females the other branches. And no, I have never, ever heard of a female airman coming back to an empty house. No judgement, just an observation from my experience. 13 years active duty.

Like jeff foxworthy said, guys are simple to understand they want 2 things, see something naked and something to drink thats got alcohol in it. There's nothing wrong with shedding a tear over a song like this. This song personally gets to me every single time I hear it. Another song that gets to me everytime I hear it is, my parents favorite song, and it is called "forever and ever amen" by Randy Travis. You might want to take a listen to it if you haven't already. It might even make for a great reaction video.

This song hits hard every time I hear it. After about 3-4 months of me being deployed to the desert, I found out my wife was 2 months pregnant. I was sent home early to handle the situation and when I finally got home I found that the other man had been living in my house and wearing my clothes the entire time I was gone.

I don't blame you for crying. I tear up every time I hear this song. I remember my dad going thru this during Vietnam. I had a stroke back in 2015 and the switch to shut off my emotions broke. When I came home, as I walked through the airport, I was spit on and called a baby killer. I never killed a baby. I served my country, and thought I should be be allowed to be proud of it. Thank you for offering me (at least, I hope you are) some dignity. I think I am right, because I’ve watched many of your previous posts. I’m a 70 year old white guy, that loves what you do. I grew up on country music, in fact When You Say Nothing at All by Alison Krauss was the first country song I'd ever heard. I remember when I was little my mother used to sing it to me often. But Whiskey Lullaby has always, ALWAYS, been my favorite country song of all time. Despite its sad and painful story its such a beautiful song and the duet between Alison and Brad was perfect. They harmonize extremely well together. One thing I have always loved about true old country music that most don't is the fact it tells stories that resonate very strongly with the listener. It almost literally tugs at the heart strings.
When you say Nothing at All was written by the late Keith Whitley. It was covered by her after? Keith's death. Whiskey Lullaby sounds like a song he would have written about Mindy McCready

Being a military wife isn't for everyone. I was also military, so i understood "how it works" when my husband had to go for 2 weeks, or 6 months just to the field. The biggest test ( in my opinion ) is actual deployment. If you can make it through that you can make it through anything. My husband went and yes I was one of those praying two officers didn't visit or that the phone didn't ring. I barely left my house or socialized because I was afraid I would miss a phone call on the rare occasion he was able to. Out of three years stationed in Germany, I saw him a total of 6 months. When he finally came home he was covered in 8 months worth of mud and sand, but I almost knocked him over when I rushed him. That was when we were only 2 years in and we have been married 25 years. I never once remotely thought of seeing anyone else, but I have seen plenty of wives doing that. The wife of one of his closest friends actually told him she'd rather have had the SGLI ( life insurance) , so yea there are some pretty soul -less women out there. As I said, I think the fact that I also served, so I knew how the job works helped.
I also survived as an Army wife during deployment. I stayed home too, mostly because every other military wife that I knew was looking to go out and get strange and I just wanted to make me a better me for when my love came home. We celebrate 24 years together today and we finally started our family after he came home. Shout out to those who stay loyal!

I was the late Waylon Jennings drummer for several years, and have worked on stage with Steve Wariner. Also played in the studio with Elton John and Paul McCartney in Scottsdale Arizona. I met Elton John and his original band members when they released Yellow Brick Road. I also am good friends with Chris McHugh... Keith Urban's drummer and Jim Riley... Rascal Flatts drummer. Gary Levox worked for my Uncle at Columbus University Hospital in the psych department. My son is a singer/songwriter in Nashville.... and works with several artists. My nephew also in Nashville is the bass player for the group Little Big Town.
