    Maybe a bit lower air pressure in the tires would give you better traction? That's works good for jeeps etc.
    Also, re the stiff suspension, what about removing a leaf or two and adding air bags? I had an old Dodge 1 ton that was like that and it worked great, less air in the bags =soft ride empty, pressure them up for hauling a load 😉

      EBay is another good place to order parts, I recently ordered a new carb with a manual pull choke to simplify the carb, again it shipped from the Philippines 👍

I'm retired living in the Philippines and these little trucks are everywhere and I have been wanting one for awhile now, and your videos have helped me alot and I have a much better understanding of what they are, and can be. I'm a tall guy 6'3"and I fix very snug ,knees in the dash. So I'm trying to think of a way to modify the seating and back wall to work, but now that I see that the seats are the engine covers, I don't know. But anyway love your channel and all of your content keep up the good work and I'll let you know what I end up with, thanks 😊

    Love the wheel tire combo on the Suzuki! Mike - do you see a need for the lift on your mini truck or would you prefer to have the stock suspension configuration like the Honda? Maybe they are both just really stiff, not sure.

      @Mikefestiva  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for checking out my new video 👍 I think the lift is worth running especially if you plan to take your truck off-road and are running oversized tires, the tires I’m running are actually bigger then stock.
      Both trucks have 2” lifts on them, the lift isn’t effecting the ride that much, both trucks just ride fairly stiff to handle a heavy payload, they are rated for a little over 800LBS in the bed but I do think they would have no problem hauling 1000 LBS easily. I’m pretty sure they all ride a bit stiff to handle the weight and also make them fairly stable when on the highway. I do know the previous owner installed longer air shocks on the back and stiffer springs up front, I don’t think this has helped the problem of articulation. I plan to start looking into suspension and possibly 4 link in the rear. Take care Brandon 👍🙂

    I found someone who wants 3500 for a Suzuki version. Its 4x4 version but no dump bed. These look so capable. I am kinda used to my F350 tho.

    Im curious how much room there is in the honda engine bay. Im thinking a b series swap. Hell, even a d series swap could bring that thing alive.

    Looks like a super fun time! I love me a mini truck! The weather here has been really cold and my '95 Carry isn't liking to shift nice into 3rd and 4th, so I think it might be time to switch to synthetic gear box oils. Have you ever noticed anything like that Mike? Thanks for sharing your mini truck adventure!

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have been enjoying these little trucks!
      I noticed when I first got my truck, shifting between 3rd and 4th would be a little hesitant, even a little growl sometimes when downshifting, it doesn’t do it anymore, it seems the more I drive it the better it works.
      Thinner synthetic oil would probably help your shifting a bit. One other thing, these trucks have a clutch cable, maybe check that it’s adjusted right.
      Looking over mine I realized it’s maxed out so at some point I’m sure I will be posting a clutch replacement video 😂
      Take care buddy 👍

      @@Mikefestiva Thanks so much for the reply Mike!
      Yeah, I took a hard look today, all the cables were good, I did adjust the clutch free play a bit, so then I looked into the trans oil and GUESS WHAT!? It was 2 QUARTS LOW!!! The dude I bought it from said that they were all maintenanced and all that, but I guess it wasn't. So, shame on him (and me for not checking). I did an oil change and that actually looked good when I was dumping it, so I have a feeling that the dude that worked on this truck before the sale didn't realize that the trans and transfer case are combined and need almost 3 qts. They also need a specific GL-4. So...... I had some Amsoil GL-5, I figured I'd toss that into it for now, shouldn't hurt anything and then I ordered the proper GL-4. So when I added the 2 qts. the thing is shifting mint again. I definitely won't let this happen again.
      Looking forward to you clutch replacement vid, we're lucky that these little piles are fairly easy to work on!
      Hope all else is good out your way! Thanks again Mike!

      I looked over all the oils in my Suzuki within the first week because I was worried something would be low, everything looked full and fresh on mine 👍 You could look into some synchromesh manual transmission oil it’s a bit thinner the gl4 and will smooth out shifting especially in the winter months.
      Ps I would recommend draining out the GL5, the GL5 I think has sulfur in it for rear diffs, the sulfur can eat up the brass synchros if left in transmissions for a long time. Take care 🙂👍

    • @BarnStangz
      @BarnStangz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mikefestiva Smart man! I should have checked the diffs and gear box (and transfer case too) but I only did an oil change. Should almost NEVER trust a seller unless you know them personally. But yeah, I found out that Amsoil makes a specific GL-4 for Japanese gear boxes so I ordered 3 quarts of the stuff. Should be here next week and I'm going to drain out the GL-5 either today or next weekend. I actually was thinking about using synchromesh oil, since I saw that at the local parts store, but when ahead and just ordered the Amsoil, figure it would be better in the long run. These trucks are pretty much bullet proof, but they need the right fluids for sure. I'm thinking this summer I should drain and flush the coolant even though it looks good. I was lucky when I purchased the truck, it came with a LOT of records, all in Japanese of course, that with Google Translate shows a pretty decent service history. I hope to have this thing for a long time! I'm so happy you have one, they are such great little trucks. Wish they could be built and made over here for sale, but I know they would never meet crash safety requirements. Oh well, lot of stuff is done poorly in this country. The Japanese have the right idea, I'd like to visit over there some day. Thanks again for the help Mike, it's greatly appreciated! Wish I lived closer, it would fun AF to wheel with ya!

      @@BarnStangz I would be stoked if we had a chance to go 4x4ing together 👍
      These little trucks are extremely useful little machines! I think if they had been sold in the states in the early 90s with fuel injected 1000cc 3 cylinder GEO meter engines (Suzuki manufactured the GEO Metro ) they probably would have been capable of pulling faster down the road. I actually got mine pulling pretty good on the highway now with the cool little 660cc engine.
      The bed of these trucks are really functional, I’m really surprised we never got any Toyota’s in the 80s or 90s with the 3 folding sides? Seems like we missed out on some really cool things.
      I have always been interested to visit Japan 🇯🇵, I have always been fascinated with there country. Take care 🙂👍

      I just got a bunch of stuff finished on my Suzuki Carry recently and the Aluminum radiator is definitely one of them, I should have a video posted in a few weeks hopefully with all the updates on it including installing a new carb 👍

    I want a 4wd Kei Truck that is reliable, but I also would like a Full 4-door and reliability...
    Mazda, because I have almost 25 years of owning non-rotory engines.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m definitely searching for a locking rear Diff for my Suzuki 👍
      If I can’t find one I will look into a lockright, but it’s going to taken some research because they don’t list my Carry as a vehicle on there site, so it’s going to take pulling the rear Diff and measuring everything to hopefully cross reference some other Suzuki that will cross over? Thanks for checking out my new video Kirby 👍

    I'm shocked that nothing broke, that says something about those little trucks right there. Yeah, not only is your suspension a little too stiff, it also has very little dampening. You were losing traction a lot because the tires were bouncing off the ground. How do the Honda's compare to the Suzuki's? Locking diff is definitely nice to have.
