Newfoundland & Labrador is a separate Province from Nova Scotia.
Like saying New Jersey is in New York.

Well, I have long thought of New Jersey as a suburb of New York! Seriously, mea culpa for my ignorance of Canadian geography....

The thing about spectrolite is, it's different from other labradorite due to the darkness of the host rock. Kind of the same phenomenon as black / white opals.

Please get your facts right. Labradorite is from Newfoundland and Labrador. Not Nova Scotia!

Labradorite is one of my favorite gems and I can never get enough of it. Thank you for a great lesson. There is really nothing else like it - except perhaps for Opal, which is my birthstone and my second favorite stone!

I didn’t even know labradorite existed until about six months ago when I was gifted a ring made of it. I absolutely love it and it’s now my favourite stone. It’s beautiful! And what’s really amazing to me about my labradorite ring is that it seems to function like a “mood ring “ It changes hues when I’m wearing it from a deep black, midnight blue to a beautiful iridescent blue/green and brilliant turquoise. I love it and hope to add some more to my collection. Thanks for the lesson on this stone. Very interesting!

This just fell into my lap in my awakening. I kew nothing of this stone. It came to me. Mine is from Madagascar. 3 " square about 2" thick. 2 of the edges are live edge and full of colors. Mine dose hold pink, purple, green, blue, gold, and copper. Will continue to find out why this popped up in my life.

Years ago, I saw lab on HSN and thought, so what. Since I have been making my own jewelry, I have gone crazy for lab! My favorite is faceted and then coated in silver!! The shine, the sparkle, the color play is fantastic!!
    Big fan of lab, now!

I totally agree! I never understood why some of the shopping channels in the early days had such mediocre labradorite. I mean, it isn’t that expensive a stone to begin with. I also agree about the coated labradorite. When I first saw that at a trade show, It was a game changer. Great stuff!
