@dude bro If you want real developments you're not going to get even into the real plot in season 2. Infact, I don't think season 3 will even touch the real plot, as much as allude to it existing. Rezero is a super super super long series. The author estimates it to go for 11 arcs total, season 1 is arcs 1-3, season 2 is only arc4. And all of it is effectively world building still.
That scene when Otto pushed Subaru out of Garfiel's attack was huge. Back in Season 1 the 2nd time Subaru meets Otto he gets pushed out of the cart by him in a vain attempt to get the Whale to chase after Subaru instead of killing him. And now in this loop Otto does the opposite and pushes Subaru out of the way to save his life.
Time changes people and rezero show it perfectly Like Subaru was a normal guy and one day he just isekaid into a world that looks too dazzling for start and when u feel like u got your girl like other isekai mc u just killed and killed and killed and have to face all by your self this whole trauma. ( i literally cry today when he confesses) Before watching subaru i just thought of getting isekai, like how cool it will to get isekai but after him it just a nightmare
This man is *THE* strongest character in all of anime history, I’ve never seen a man die soo many times, face sooooo much adversity, carry sooo much emotional baggage, and yet always manage to stand up and face the world
Not to mention he made the resolve to say he will use his own life from now on to gather information, make the sacrifices, and kill himself to go back and put his ideas into action

"The Value of Life" The episode card dropping at the end of this episode, along with Subaru's ability to finally confide in someone followed up by Echidna's comfort....everything about that just hit different. This whole season has hit differently and anybody with depression should be able to understand. To feel all alone, to feel worthless with all these expectations shrouding you, to feel like you can't talk to *anyone* at all, to feel completely isolated. I'm identifying with Subaru so much more than I did in Season 1, and I still identified with him that season too. But now, it's really personal. It's been personal since his first trial. This episode is up there with 15 and 18 for me now. And the more I watch, the more I'm willing to bump it up ahead of those episodes. Truly magnificent episode.
I still dont trust Echnida. Waifu no doubt but as far as story goes i feel she's gonna be a big problem later...hard to trust anyone in this show. The ones you do trust end up dead...x.x but ya those damn bunnies man...Subaru cant catch a break out here...and where the fuck is mister Op Reinhardt???i mean yea it would be to easy if he came and saved our boy but damn...the villains in this show are strong as fuck...he needs someone to balance this hopelessness out haha. One of the three greatest mysteries in re:zero: how Tappei can even imagine such terrifying ways to make Subaru suffer and die. But the Rabbit scene was absolutely... *shivers* . White Fox really animated this scene to justice and the end of the ep. was quite a beatiful shock as well. After reading the web novel so far, there've been too many differences, though I really like it thus far. This was a great review for a truly horrifying, yet beautiful episode!
Its annoying when people dismiss Re:zero because they watched only 2 episodes and dropped it because they did not like Subaru as a MC. Or the anime hipsters were anything that is popular they dismiss and say its trash.

Others probably still stuck on the absence of a cliche OP protagonist who just one shots everything. Re: Zero has so much more to offer in terms of world building, realistic characters with realistic flaws etc. I wont even talk about Re Zero being NOT a harem anime

In the novel Echidna said that she neither understand what 'Emotion' is nor she can feel it, resulting in her void and Artificial emotion, and Subaru fell for it until now. And Beatrice isn't Spirit for Roswaal. Beatrice made by Echidna, and Puck too, made by Echidna. And this is a big spoiler : Roswaal also has the Gospel and the way he act until NOW was just following the instruction in the Gospel. And also, Roswaal had acquired the method to live Eternal by using his descendant as his vessel. So initially Roswaal have been live at the same time as Echidna and even regard Echidna as his "Teacher", so from 400 years ago until now, it's the same Roswaal person.

Since Otto can speak with animals the white whale made him go slightly crazy while that was happening if that is any justification. Plus the whole time Subaru was frantically screaming about Rem, who Otto didn’t know existed at the time, I can understand why he pushed Subaru.
Stan Peek Otto is more redeemable then all those who hurt/killed him imo, when Otto escaped the white whale he eventually came back to his senses but was ambushed by the witch cult but then in the last moment he ordered his dragon to go back to help Subaru.

It's even more grotesque if you read it in the novels. First time I read it I was so disturbed. They don't show it much in the anime, but the rabbits are like the size of mice, and so they crawl inside Subaru's through his mouth and anus, and literally eat him from the inside out.

I noticed the white rabbits has the same glowing purple seal as the White Whale. I find that very interesting. Is this by any chance another "pet" creature of the Gluttony? Because I find the similarities are off the charts; the same white color, the horn, the seal, red eyes, and the "glutton" tendency of it.
SPOILER you would be correct. And despite its destructive power technically(I say technically because it could still wipe out entire civilisations) weaker than the white whale. It's much much harder to kill.

First thought in my mind seeing the white rabbit with a horn : "aw thats pretty cute, is it a mabeast?" Few seconds later: "ohh..." Seriously that scene made me think that Subaru needs to have a self destruct and die option just to get out of situations like that.
The rabbit scene was so horrible I actually hid my eyes a couple of times until it was over. That was a first for an Anime. (I cannot stand gore, but I have been saved by censorship in the past 10 years of Anime watching.) Like always, I just cannot wait for the next episode.
I was actually really looking forward to seeing how they'd adapt the rabbit attack scene. I was like "man, if they censored Petra's death, there's _no way_ they're not censoring this." It was easily the most brutal death Subaru's endured so far, at least in terms of physical suffering.
I think Petra's death was more meant to be artistic than censored, they had no problem showing severed arms in episode 1 or intestines in episode 5, and now all kinds of other stuff in the rabbit scene... The censoring is really really low. Makes me look forward to the blu-ray version later because White Fox usually ups the animation quality and gore~
I’m not gonna lie, when I was reading that rabbit scene, the level of gore I imagined was far worse than what the episode gave. This is not a complaint, I’m actually happy its been this way, because holy hell right after I read that scene I was checking every corner to make sure no damnable rabbit was around.

It was soooo disturbing in a good way. also, the scene where he tells echidna that he can return by death almost made me cry as well, it's so easy to feel empathy for subaru. also also, fun fact, Echidna is a monster from greek mythology, known as the mother of monsters, she's a half snake-like being that birthed a lot of the most terrible monsters in greek mythology. And technically her name in western languages would be pronounced as E-kid-na. But the japanese pronouciation makes it sound like E-ki-do-na. Cuz Japanese syllabic pronounciation.

This episode made a real understanding of knowing how Subaru felt as soon as he could tell everything to Echidna, all of his burden was relieved by him being able to speak, this is why i love this anime and it is soo far the best anime i have seen in telling a story
I loved literally every second in this episode and the parallels to season 1. Garfiel is just a more sinister and extreme version of the first time Rem killed Subaru I think, they were suspicious of him for the exact same reasons. Then seeing how everyone, Otto, Ram, the villagers and even Patrache sacrificed themselves to save Subaru, then the snow and then the most brutal death I've seen in Re:Zero. After seeing all that from crying tears of sadness I went to crying tears of joy when Subaru finally got the thing that bothered him most off his chest. I wish I could say something quirky or funny, but damn, all I can say is this episode was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions and I can't wait another week for the next one. PS: Echidna is going straight on my waifu list now
Look how far our Best Boy Otto has come: From pushing Subaru out of the carriage to save himself, to sacrificing himself and saving Subaru in this episode by pushing him. Oh the irony. Loved the episode and of course enjoyed on what you had to say about it.
Turns out most of the reason for the first time was because Otto could understand the whale and it drove him insane! And even then he still felt sorry and ordered his ground dragon to go back to help Subaru, as the cult was capturing him.
It’s crazy that the world of Re:zero is so unstable. You have mabeasts lurking around everywhere, bunch of people who won’t hesitate to kill for their own goals, powerful cultists, spirits, witches trying to end the world. No wonder Subaru dies so often, he lacks power and was thrown into a world where you absolutely need power to survive. Reinhardt really has it good.

On of the reasons i love this anime, the conflict is usually in each character. Hooking us on how these characters will grow such as Subaru

One of the three greatest mysteries in re:zero: how Tappei can even imagine such terrifying ways to make Subaru suffer and die. But the Rabbit scene was absolutely... *shivers* .
White Fox really animated this scene to justice and the end of the ep. was quite a beatiful shock as well. After reading the web novel so far, there've been too many differences, though I really like it thus far.

The Sanctuary initially made by Echidna based on her 'Curiosity' in the matter of Eternal Life but that is not important right now. What I want to say is, all the expression that came from Echidna was Fake. In the novel Echidna said that she neither understand what 'Emotion' is nor she can feel it, resulting in her void and Artificial emotion, and Subaru fell for it until now.
And Beatrice isn't Spirit for Roswaal. Beatrice made by Echidna, and Puck too, made by Echidna. And this is a big spoiler : Roswaal also has the Gospel and the way he act until NOW was just following the instruction in the Gospel. And also, Roswaal had acquired the method to live Eternal by using his descendant as his vessel. So initially Roswaal have been live at the same time as Echidna and even regard Echidna as his "Teacher", so from 400 years ago until now, it's the same Roswaal person.

I feel like Otto sacrificing himself to save Subaru was redemption for him pushing Subaru out of the carriage to escape the white whale.
Since Otto can speak with animals the white whale made him go slightly crazy while that was happening if that is any justification. Plus the whole time Subaru was frantically screaming about Rem, who Otto didn’t know existed at the time, I can understand why he pushed Subaru.

I think Petra's death was more meant to be artistic than censored, they had no problem showing severed arms in episode 1 or intestines in episode 5, and now all kinds of other stuff in the rabbit scene... The censoring is really really low. Makes me look forward to the blu-ray version later because White Fox usually ups the animation quality and gore~

I’m not gonna lie, when I was reading that rabbit scene, the level of gore I imagined was far worse than what the episode gave. This is not a complaint, I’m actually happy its been this way, because holy hell right after I read that scene I was checking every corner to make sure no damnable rabbit was around.

This episode was AMAZING. If there are doubters out there, they're just insane if they cannot say this story is top tier.
This episode made a real understanding of knowing how Subaru felt as soon as he could tell everything to Echidna, all of his burden was relieved by him being able to speak, this is why i love this anime and it is soo far the best anime i have seen in telling a story

I loved literally every second in this episode and the parallels to season 1.
Garfiel is just a more sinister and extreme version of the first time Rem killed Subaru I think, they were suspicious of him for the exact same reasons. Then seeing how everyone, Otto, Ram, the villagers and even Patrache sacrificed themselves to save Subaru, then the snow and then the most brutal death I've seen in Re:Zero. After seeing all that from crying tears of sadness I went to crying tears of joy when Subaru finally got the thing that bothered him most off his chest.
I wish I could say something quirky or funny, but damn, all I can say is this episode was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions and I can't wait another week for the next one.

It’s crazy that the world of Re:zero is so unstable. You have mabeasts lurking around everywhere, bunch of people who won’t hesitate to kill for their own goals, powerful cultists, spirits, witches trying to end the world. No wonder Subaru dies so often, he lacks power and was thrown into a world where you absolutely need power to survive. Reinhardt really has it good.
