How to harvest Kale and Swiss Chard

Dr. Eric Brennan shows how to harvest the kale and Swiss chard in raised bed vegetable gardens at Lincoln Elementary School in Salinas, California. The kale and chard was planted on December 19, 2014 and was ready to start harvesting by mid February, 2015. The three kale varieties in shown are Lacinto (aka Dinosaur), Redbor (with Purplish ruffled leaves), and Darkibor (with green ruffled leaves). The chard variety is Bright Lights. This garden was developed by volunteers at the school as part of the Lincoln Healthy Kids Club. The video was produced by Eric who volunteers in the garden.
