Hey Jason, don't tell people that genealogies are boring. then they'll believe it is boring. It's not, the genealogies are very interesting, what you need to do is show people how fun it is getting to know the genealogies. So many preachers tell people it is boring and that is a shame.

If there is no gap between Genesis 1:1 & 1:2, why does sin already exist before Adam and Eve were created?

I was raised as a Christian. So, I accepted the Gospels as historical records of Jesus' life. However, what the Genesis narrative tells us of the beginning aligns differently with what science teaches. So, as a result, I accepted the story of creation on faith. Later, as an adult, I read a popular science magazine article about the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) and how its data reveals that our Earth and solar system may be cosmically aligned. Then came the Planck satellite confirming the WMAP data. Could this be evidence that the book of Genesis is based on historical events? Perhaps, but unfortunately, I am not a scientist and can only understand about one percent of the science. Nevertheless, According to cosmologists, one thing is evident: the alignments somehow exist! Moreover, because the data does not fit the Standard Model of Cosmology, scientists dubbed it the Axis of Evil. But, according to Genesis, the alignments would be the Axis of Beginning. So why aren't more Christians and scientists encouraged that this data is evidence that the book of Genesis may be based on facts and even historical events? And, more importantly, scientific proof that God exists.

" that our Earth and solar system may be cosmically aligned."
      Aligned to what?
"the alignments would be the Axis of Beginning."
And what is an axis of beginning? Time is one-dimensional, for an axis to make sense you need at least three dimensions.

I have thought long and hard about this sort of thing. Jesus is the Word made flesh. We are to believe in Jesus who is the Word of God. If someone was following Christ and decided on a field of study to become an "expert" in don't you think you might consider what your Lord thinks first?
Man says that our Earth spins at 1000 mph, "orbits" the sun at a curious 66,600 mph all while our "galaxy" supposedly hurtles through "space" at some 515,000 mph.
All this movement yet Polaris stays fixed in our sky age after age. All this movement and yet the Great Pyramids still align with Orion's Belt. We can feel movement in a car, a boat or a plane yet...do you feel like we are moving?
Over and over the Bible tells us the Earth does not move. Joshua bid the sun to stand still, not the Earth.
You can even see it when you watch the sun and moon critically.
Man lies about all sorts of things, most do not believe the Scriptures. It is best if people who claim to follow Christ don't fall into that category.
The "news" is starting to tell us that there are UFOs and extraterrestrials. The Pope says they are God's children. How are followers of Christ to answer all this?
"The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, 10and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. 11For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, 12in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness." II Thess. 2

@@jannaswanson271 Have ever even started on the long trek to becoming minimally knowledgeable about a subject, without even trying to be an expert? Have you ever noticed that when you are traveling in your car, distant things SEEM to move more slowly than bushes and posts up close? The fact is, they are the same in reference to you. It is perspective; more distant objects only SEEM to move more slowly. As we hurtle through space, all the movements in space are the same, but we perceive the more distant ones less. An object 20 feet away seems to zoom by faster than an object at 500 yards and much faster than one about 430 light years away, or hundreds of trillions of miles away. But the real movement is the same. --- I live in a republic whose founding fathers deemed it preferable to not have lords to rule over us. I make all decisions on my own without consulting a dour feudal lord.

If you understand the supernatural to the extent of trying to make it natural, or claiming that's natural, ...that's bad.

God did not create time, time is a symptom of separation from God. Time is relevant only to the creation during which God is working out his will and purposes to eradicate sin as a nature.. Time did not exist prior to Ezekiel 28:11-19 and Isaiah 14:13,14. And there is no time after the judgements are fulfilled.

  • @aaddebruijn3355
    @aaddebruijn3355 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Science simply tries to explain how God created. Science can be wrong.
Timescale is not mentioned in Genesis. Millions of years or thousands of years is not the issue. Genealogies, names and ages, have a spiritual meaning. For example the number of generations is deliberately chosen, and not necessarily 'historical'.
Adam and Eve are described for you to as a mirror. You are Adam and Eve.
Did God create Adam and Eve as adults? Is God a wizzard or sorcerer? No. As creationist we should give a good scientific alternative for evolution.
Reading the Bible is not a matter of taking everything litterally.
Jesus says His words are spirit and life.
Man was created in the image and likeness of God.
So much of the Bible is 'image and likeness ', spiritual.
Adam is men taken from the earth.
The Hebrew Bible is 'historically ' written because God is a reality within our history. That does not mean that Scripture is litterally videocamera history, as if someone had a videocamera and recorded what happend.
Speaking about God and His Kingdom, about the reality of Above, is only possible by way of 'image and likeness '.
God and Jesus speak to us in terms of image and likeness.
The definition of 'day' is "light". "And God called the light day", verse 5. Not our day of 24 hours. The light of God is 'day' .
There is a fundamental lack of sensitivity for the spiritual and metaforical meaning of Scripture within the narrow creationist view.
    "Death before sin"
Only if you read Genesis chronologically. But the narrative of Adam (man taken from the earth= adamah) and Eve is our story.
Evil and sin exist from the beginning. Genesis 1 sanctifies Gods Name; death and meat eating animals are not part of Gods Kingdom, are not kosher..

"Science simply tries to explain how God created."
Nope. Science explains without god. What it can not explain is object to research. Philosophers of science discuss if there are areas like "Why there is something instead of nothing." that science will never be able to explain. Theologians think they know the answer - but never gave a good explanation for their belief.

Unfortunately this man has forsaken his scientific credentials through his relentless quest to place the Bible generally, and the book of Genesis specifically,at the centre of all his work. The same gentleman has publicly admitted to “burying” his creationist position while undertaking his academic qualifications. He lacked the courage of his convictions during that time, possibly fearing the consequences for his academic success should fellow academics learn of his determination to give priority to Genesis over the rigour of science..
