We did study it during 2013. This overwelming music joined me in the special time, the diing of my beloved Mom. Three days after her funeral was the concert. So my wife and I sung it for her. - During one of the two concerts, a butterfly flew from one to the other singer and musician. It was November! (You probably know: Butterfly stands for resurection :-) - We had marvelous tubular Bells to the end of second "dies ire" and a the big church-organ. I can tell you: that was blowing the audiences peace away (for a frighten Moment)
Dvořák was not only a great composer, but also a great man. His music is not only inspired and technically perfect, but also natural, human and hopeful.
Dvorak, Dvorak a fait de splendides musiques!!!! J'écouterai toujours avec un énorme plaisir, et même mes pitchounes aussi!!! car chaque son et sonorité a son histoire. Magnifique.
@@TheDrmedina I am a tenor singer in a beautiful classical choir and at the fourth of May 2019 we've performed Fauré's Requiem. It was also my debut at this choir, but what a piece of music this is! (Especially to make your debut!) Even words like wonderful and stunning couldn't describe my feelings at that moment. Mesmerizing, that's more like it..
Antonín Dvořák composed the Requiem at the beginning of his peak creative period. The construction of the Mass is not typical: the composition is divided into two basic parts, each of which begins with the original interconnection of several liturgical sequences. Dvořák inserted between the "Sanctus" and "Agnus Dei" a lyrical "Pie Jesu" movement based on the final text of the "Dies Irae" sequence. The Requiem's basic melodic motif is created by two ascending half-tones with an incorporated very sorrowful diminished third, which begins the piece and continues in many variations as the main motif throughout the whole work. This composition was performed for the first time on 9 October 1891, in Birmingham, England, with the composer conducting.Section I: 1. Introitus: Requiem aeternam 00:00 2. Graduale: Requiem aeternam 10:14 3. Sequentia: Dies irae 14:55 - Tuba mirum 16:56 - Quid sum miser 24:54 - Recordare, Jesu pie 30:41 - Confutatis maledictis 36:41 - Lacrimosa. 40:28 Section II : 4. Offertorium: Domine Jesu Christe 46:15 - Hostias 57:23 5. Sanctus 01:07:07 - Pie Jesu 01:12:29 6. Agnus Dei 01:16:52 (Wikipedia)
Stunningly beautiful and majestic. I feel the same awe listening to the amazing duet Andrey Nemzer & Charlene Canty singing CANTICUM FRATRIS SOLIS. Such humility and inspiration!
Thank you for uploading this! In my opinion just the best "Requiem" ever written, but the best Oratorio ... maybe even the best piece of music ever! I LOVE it! Thank you again! Visemanden / Ole Irenæus Wierød
Thanks for publishing this splendid version of Dvoraks Requiem. It is an underrated work that deserves more high-quality performances like the one published here. I hope some day I have the opportunity to sing this requiem in some choir.
Perfect songs to read the subjective forms of the clouds and to follow with a tender eye the grooves of the stems of the trees; appreciate the complex writing of the nested branches, taste the colors of the decomposition of light into water droplets in a garden, and strongly feel the wet soil of ancestral forest to perceive the traces of animals from deep past 🍍🌴
Yes there are a few passages where Dvorak is not at his best but overall this is a magnificent work and unjustly overshadowed by Verdi. After the extraordinary Berlioz Requiem this is probably my next favourite.
Section I 0:40 - 1. Requiem aeternam, B flat minor (Poco lento) 10:13 - 2. Graduale, B flat minor (Andante) 14:52 - 3. Dies irae, B flat minor (Allegro impetuoso att.) 16:55 - 4. Tuba mirum, E minor (Moderato) [conducted as one with Dies Irae] 24:55 - 5. Quid sum miser, F minor (Lento) 30:41 - 6. Recordare, D major (Andante) 36:40 - 7. Confutatis maledictis, G minor (Moderato maestoso) 40:29 - 8. Lacrymosa, A minor (L'istesso tempo) Section II 46:15 - 9. Offertorium, F major (Andante con moto) 57:25 - 10. Hostias, F minor (Andante) 1:07:09 - 11. Sanctus, B flat major (Andante maestoso) 1:12:30 - 12. Pie Jesu, G minor (Poco adagio) 1:16:53 - 13. Agnus Dei, B flat minor (Lento) 1:27:08 - Applause
Thanks for the upload. My second favourite Requiem, after Berlioz, and superior IMO to the ever popular Verdi - can't understand why it's not performed more often, maybe a case of "I know what I like and I like what I know" !

Singing this Requiem was one of the greatest moments in my musical life!
Wow, I saw you! It must have been amazing to participate in that!
anche il mio.
Try listening to the Faure Requiem. th-cam.com/video/UnilUPXmipM/w-d-xo.html. My late father liked the Dvorak, but I like the Faure.

My most favorite Requiem ❤🙏
Gorgeous music, beautifully sang, also the lovely sculpture of the church in the background, added to my pleasure. Thank you!

très beau et puissant, j'ai eu le plaisir de le chanter

I've sung quite some Requiem masses in my life... and this is definitely in my To Sing list. What a wonderfully beautiful piece this Requiem is!
I have never sung this one. Some requiems are better sung than listened to. I sang in Saint Saens' requiem recently and loved it.
Really nice performance of an underrated work.
