    This is so awesome! I had a system similar to this. it was just notepads no my old note book. I had it as my third monitor and used it for this very purpose. Got the idea from watching a video about VALVE. They use the same system with there game development team. But I may buy this program due to its extreme awesomeness because this looks way more proficient.

    I spent 10 years in electronics manufacturing understanding kanban as a system of "kanban this" or "kanban that" to us kanban is bit of software. I wish management had told us about how it works in the big picture. I'd really like (I hope you're listening management folks) if every new employee should be given an overview of what it is and how it works.

    Hey, I really enjoyed this video! For the first time, after 2 years of software engineering studies im actually looking forward to get involved with more of Kanban and Scrum.
    However, I think you kinda forgot to explain how Kanban is representing Scrum's "Sprint" idea....I guess it's something like daily work or something like that, right?

    That Kanbot thing must have taken a lot of time to add into the video. It's like an alpha Geek signal, look I can make stuff with a 3d printer, look I can do stop-go animation, look I "get" Japanese anime culture, and I really wanted to make a cool video but I was strong armed into making something "useful" and "accessible". It also speaks to the tedious neoteny that infuses software culture; it might be good marketing right now, but I don't think it will age well because the culture is shifting.
    As for the first part of the video, well done, very informative.

    It would be great to see other people's take on reporting while using Kanban. I am doing it right know, but I feel that if the tool used doesn't have a strong reporting suite, it might be a manual process of counting every card done or card per user done....

    In Jira, Epics, User Stories, and Tasks are all on the Kanban board in the Backlog column. If I move user story to "In Progress" and that user story belongs to an epic, does that also mean the epic is now "In Progress"? How come I can move a user story to "In Progress" without moving the tasks associated with that user story over? How can a user story be "In Progress" if the associated tasks are still in the backlog. I'm so confused. I've been googling for hours and I can't figure out how this works.

    Guys you are doing great stuff but can you please rectify the statement.."Scrum Methodology". Scrum is not a methodology but a "Framework" which can even adopt practises from Kanban and many other Agile methods. The Methodology statement can be very misleading to people who are just hearing of this for the first time.

  • @mindyhuntingtonbeach

    Great video but please don't block cards by total number of any given column!
    We are people and deal with real problems, maybe a visual indicator of warning is good but sometimes shit may happen and you have to stack items where they belong.
    A huge column is already an indicator of something smelly in the workflow.

    For writing code, Kanban and Scrum are horrible methodologies. Waterfall works best. Believe me all of the new and great frontiers of the web (Twitter, Facebook, Ebay, Tumbler) were not written using any of those methodologies. All it takes is a developer with the desire to create a product. Introducing methodologies that are geared twords the factory or construction industry does not carry well over to the software development process.

    • @Factory400
      @Factory400 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ONLY way Scrum/Kanban (or any methodology) is 100% buy-in from all involved. It only takes one person doing things their own way to crater an otherwise well laid plan.
      My business does design, mech engineering, electrical engineering, and software - Scrum/Kanban works quite well and forces continuous improvements. Buy-in and discipline is the key. I will not hire anyone that ~must~ do things their own way. I need people that can function as a system, learn from each other, help each other, predict each other, etc, etc.
