Great to do this in honor of good ol Norm. I used to like that New Yankee Workshop. My dad used to like that and he ended up getting into woodworking as well. The jig and miters are excellent and nice way to reinforce those miters! He splines turn a simple box into a really classy one.
Ay ay ay! We had a power outage here in Houston -- so I could not log in for Shop Night Live. So, my charming wife and I spent the time eating cheese and baguette slices by candlelight, with a nice red wine! Just watched the re-run. I will get to use my Bosch biscuit joiner and Dewalt pin nailer again! Thanks for the lesson!
Just made some white ash picture frames, by adding those splines, they look like a whole new frame! A suggestion: that beautiful walnut tray you were showing, you could do a live show on just showing the end piece with the curved out handle, I would like to see how you tackled that from 1 3/4 inch board I believe you said. Thank you for the videos.
Thank you, glad it worked well for you! And I got enough interest in those handles that I’m planning to show how I made them on tomorrow night’s SNL. Hope you can see it live!
On the end grain gluing video, like I think you’ve said before “the (internet) is like a box of chocolates..you never know what you’re gonna get.” It’s easy to do a test that seems to say one thing but if ALL factors aren’t included equally, the conclusion will likely be “flawed.”🤔👍

Awesome info at the end on finishing. Thanks!
Thanks Brad, glad you enjoyed it! 👍😎

When operating a biscuit jointer: " Remember this, there is no more important safety rule than to wear these: safety glasses!"
Amen Norm! 😎
Walnut tray: how did you make the handle round ? with a plane or using a router & roundover bit ?
Thanks Martin, if you watch SNL tomorrow night I’ll be showing how I did it 👍
