Hi sir. As someone who runs mulchers on excavators on the daily, I would highly advise tuning that head. With your Volvo getting right at 16 gpm, tuning would increase performance and recovery. I would tach it too, Fecon recommends 2400 rpm for that head but the way it sounds cutting it’s likely way less than that. If you have the 45cc motor in that mulcher, that size motor is a bit large for your flow. I run a 39cc motor in my Prinoth and it’s on the upper end of size for the 20 gpm of flow my Kubota U55-4 puts out and I get dead on 2000 rpm. Just my 2 cents anyway.

Thanks. Yep I plan to. I ordered a photo tach and will do it this week

Hey Idigit4, how the heck have you been. I’ve been a subscriber of yours for a long time now however it’s been probably a month since I’ve seen any of your videos I got to get in there and get to watching some more. I have subscribed to so many TH-camrs and the same type of content that it’s hard for me to keep up with everybody’s new videos lol.

Couple of thoughts: 1) I use a mechanical tach with a point tip, right in the center of the exposed rotor shaft. get the machine completely up to maximum operating temperature first. Should be a set screw with lock to adjust pump motor flow to reach recommended rpm.
      2) You may want to check stall pressure. You may have a dual pump motor on the FECON, low flow/high press. and high flow/lower press. running it set wacky and constantly over a relief will cause excess heat. 3) Your excavator may have had a valve to directly dump return fluid to tank from the aux circuit you used. might be worth checking into, if it's there, it needs to be turned to dump to tank if you use certain attachments like a hammer... (I learned this the hard way). Turn the valve the other way to use a dual function attachment like a claw or thumb...

Looks like the struggle bus visited you too huh! It’s OK after it was done messing with you It had to of swung by my place cause boy was I struggling today. I don’t know if it’s fortunate or unfortunate but I didn’t get any of it on video though.🤷‍♂️ TriStar had a slight case of the struggle bus the other day when he was fitting his to his machine too.

Great video , I’ve got same Volvo ec60e 1260 hrs been a excellent machine. Got the same x1 and x3 dual auxiliaries also, X3 mainly is used for a hydraulic 360* rotator on 8”cap. Limb shear. Main reason I wanted to comment is I believe you’re case drain as it’s plumbed could lead to trouble. As you’ve got it it’s not going through the main filter . It’s only going through the Strainer at the bottom of the tank and directly to your pump I absolutely wouldn’t trust the strainer to filter case drain oil anywhere’s near pure enough for any component in your whole system. The hydraulic tank on that machine has the return lines plumbed left front in back of the swing motor. This I’m quite sure is where you need to plumb your case drain to as then it will pass through the main filter. Im just trying to prevent a hydraulic system catastrophe 🤔 looking forward to lots of your vids👍👍

Hi Brian thanks for the comment. All other case drains I’ve seen installed simply dump that excess back into the top of the tank. Kubotas dump it in just beneath the fill cap. I figured this was safe

Well if that’s how they’re plumbing the case drain return maybe I’m just being overly cautious. I remember bobcat excavators use to use small case drain filters on there drive motor case drain lines . The issue that these could have is they would be neglected and filters not changed. When they started to get plugged up they would create back pressure on the motor case and could take out the shaft seals . I really enjoy watching your shop projects , keeping a sense of humor is sometimes the best medicine 👍

I’ve been doing a little research on case drain hose routing to tank as I may be adding one to my ec60e. I watched cottontops video on his rotobec install, his is going into top tank cover however it’s got the main filter underneath so the return oil will have to pass through it(filter). In looking at my ec60e the tank filter cover ( directly in back of bigger cover) low and behold has a threaded hole with a pipe plug in it 👍. That is where you’d want to return your case drain oil to as then it must pass thru the few micron size main oil filter. This would be a very very simple change that could eliminate a hydraulic catastrophe with contaminates getting through the whole system. . Just trying to help 😀

@@VTOutdoorServices dont believe hp matters much , I owned takeuchi tb257fr had 19gpm auxiliary flow 53 hp engine. Machine was slow and clumsy with side to side boom. Struggled to lift 3300lbs bin blocks. Traded in toward John deere 50g has 23gpm auxiliary flow. 37 hp lifts blocks and stacks 3 high . Haven't tried 4 yet . Operates my soosan hammer much better than takeuchi. After watching your video building ripper. I purchased attachment ears on Amazon for deere and changed ears on hammer. Love my 35g and 50g thanks to your videos for showing me what it could do. Like to get cdl and move up to 60g.
