  • Could kindess be an evolutionary advantage?
Dacher Keltner begins with Charles Darwin, and continues through the latest neuroscience research on the pleasures of giving, revealing that kindness is contagious! He also shares real-life, practical and scientifically tested practices that will help you create a kinder world around you.
Dacher Keltner is the Director of the Social Interaction Lab at the University of California at Berkeley and the Faculty Director of the Berkeley Greater Good Science Center, and the author of Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life and The Compassionate Instinct. Keltner's research focuses on the biological and evolutionary origins of compassion, awe, love, and beauty, as well as power, social class, and inequality.
From examining how we negotiate moral concerns to exploring the determinants of power and status, Dacher Keltner looks at the social practices by which we navigate the world. Beyond a substantial body of research published in scientific journals, his work has been covered in numerous media outlets including TIME, Newsweek, the New York Times, the BBC, NPR, and CNN, and has been the focus of two panels with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.

What's remarkable is that there are only 179 likes and 12K views. We're born compassionate and spend the rest of our lives sorting through the mixed messages, some of which take us further and some which bring us back to our - true nature, our basic goodness.

I was very touched by what he said on minute 14 about the inmates in San Quentin prison. It reminded me of the most beautiful and valuable book I have ever read about compassion: " Just Mercy, A Story of Justice and Redemption" by Bryan Stevenson. I wish I could give that book to everybody in this world.

Compassion is silent. It comes from the heart and extends electromagnetically.
