This is a poor and pointless video. He said in the past that he was way overworked from shooting Smallville for 17 hours a day for ten consecutive years. He said he doesn't want to do something because he "has to" but only if he wants to. Michael Rosenbaum also said that while he usually used to be on set for 4/5 days on average on a 10 day shooting schedule, Tom instead was the only one who was always on set 9 days out of 10. So he acted for 10 consecutive years, 9 and a half months a year, he acted basically at every hour of the day. And he doesn't have to do anything for money, clearly. It's not that "Hollywood won't cast him anymore", he has actually rejected roles.
He still looks pretty great so him being "older" is not the issue, I just think that the people in charge of Supergirl just want to separate it as much as possible from Smallville and them casting him as superman would not help towards that.

Tom Welling was fantastically casted in Smallville. He has the body of a Greek god needed for the role of young Clark Kent. I read on his face the good sense from the countryside, barely tainted by a certain naivety. Yet, far from looking like a fop without substance, his screen presence is imbued by the solemn air characteristic to super heroes. Assuredly, it's going to be difficult for him to find a role as finely tailored as this one.

He's one of those who didn't want to get type cast, that's why he refused the role for Superman Returns and why he won't be Superman in Supergirl. I was a HUGE Smallville fan, watched it loyally from the first episode to the last when it was actually on the air. I miss that show. Would be cool to see Tom get back into acting. I know it'll never happen.. but since Superhero shows are pretty much all the rave now days.. they should cast him as SUPERMAN and give him his own TV show. I had read an announcement that Welling was going to reprise his role in the Supergirl show. Obviously it isn't going to happen now and it makes me sad. Of course, with the graying hair in some of the photos in this vid, he might not be able to play the eternally young Kryptonian any longer.

Many of the not - so - bright would think the show is a follow-up of smallville, but they already severed that possibility by tying Supergirl to The Flash and Arrow, which do not have any ties to Smallville.
John I wish Michael Rosenbaum had been casted as the Flash in the upcoming Justice League movie. The guy is perfect for it. He has the personality and he's voiced the character several times in the animated shows and movies.
Chris Fuentes I agree, Michael Rosenbaum would make a good Flash, but I'm not sure about him as Barry Allen. As you probably know he voiced the Wally West version of the Flash who has a different personality to Barry, he is more light-hearted imo. Although it seems that Barry in the upcoming JLA movie has Wally's personality more than Barry's, so yeah Michael Rosenbaum probably would be a good choice, but I think they wanted someone younger, and so they went with Ezra Miller. But as for fans getting confused if they cast Tom as Clark in Supergirl . . . I'm sorry to say but I don't really care about the part-time fans who don't understand or don't follow the shows/ comics ect. I would like to see the movie/tv producers make movies/tv shows for the hardcore fans that already have knowledge and an appreciation of the characters, not just those who are jumping on the bandwagon.

Tom Welling was great on Smallville, and was especially exciting when his character turned dark, although he is equally good at comedy. The three movies mentioned post-Smallville featured Tom in minor roles, and their success or failure was not dependent on him. Tom's potential is unlimited, with a capacity for romance, comedy, action, and drama, plus he has a massive fan base, and anything he wants to take on will be supported by us.
Watching Smallville now.. Never watched it whole before. I'm season 3... Tom is incredible, talented, handsome, and he is really the true superman image.. I can't imagine anyone else as superman.. or Clark Kent... so it takes an incredible talented actor to do this to the audience... make us believe no one else can be in that role... So, I guess he must just find the opportunity to a good movie or series and with his super powers of acting, make anyone believe that in that role should be only Tom Welling!

What the hell are you talking about it's still a piece of S**t the CG is S**t and the fights are ridiculously stupid sometimes there are no laws of physics at all like in one episode there was this completely BS of a fight where supergirl's heat vision come in contact not only with another beam from a weapon of whatever the hell it was (which would have been stupid enough) but also with other two weapons one of them was a gravity gun I think a d**n gravity gun and another gun which wasn't explained enough anyway the three beams went against her heat vision beam at different angles like they were some harry potter spells the hell. and earlier in that episode we saw supergirl giving whom I think will be superboy later a hair cut using her heat vision which would require a surgical precision not to hurt him and to stop the beam the moment the hair is cut or she would burn the apartment OK so now we know how precise she is but later in the last fight she started shooting heat vision beams on the main villain who was running on his feet and manged to doge them all or she missed him all the time what the actual F**k is that. Don't get me wrong here man I was trying really hard with this show trying to give it a chance but enough is enough till they fix this S**T I am not watching it again not that it matters to anyone but I am just saying. sorry for the long comment If this was 9gag I would have left you a potato.
I think I know what's wrong with Tom Welling. He's being type casted for superhero roles. I think after over a decade of Smallville T.W. is burnt out on the whole super hero persona. He wants to grow and branch out as a serious actor taking on more dramatic roles, but he can't bcuz he's only ever offered the hero type cast. He's desperately trying to break free of it, but that's just not possible, especially when he spent so much time on such an epic series. Sorry Tom, becoming successful is apart of the job, especially when your good at it. The only way you can move out of the hero role is to embrace it for now, get back in the game, and slowly but surely branch out from it all together. Producers will take notice and wanna have you be apart of their team.
I personally agree. While the new guy does a good job of pulling a geeky Clark Kent he doesn't sell it for me as Superman. But the problem with Welling also might be is that he doesn't like tights that's why you've never seen him wear the actual Superman suit.

There are things so good that they can hardly be matched. It´s ridiculous why sometimes Hollywood does this to actors. Most times it´s not really their fault that the movie fails. Look at Andrew Garfield´s Spiderman. He was really good doing his job but because the director producer or whatever made kind of bad second movie they didn´t made the third. Smallville was great. The last few seasons weren't as good as you could tell the writers where running out of things to do so they started bringing on more and more DC characters which was a bad idea, it was alot better with just a tiny few. I loved how the show showed you how he discovered his powers and how him and Lex became best friends to enemies. Lex was amazing, and his dad was even better. Stone cold the pair of them.
Michael Taylor I wouldn't want him to do that. His character in smallville is in a different universe with different actors. That would only make sense if they transferred all the actors to reprise their roles. I want him to lead in something successful non superhero related and maybe directors will take notice of him again

I had read an announcement that Welling was going to reprise his role in the Supergirl show. Obviously it isn't going to happen now and it makes me sad. Of course, with the graying hair in some of the photos in this vid, he might not be able to play the eternally young Kryptonian any longer.

Many of the not - so - bright would think the show is a follow-up of smallville, but they already severed that possibility by tying Supergirl to The Flash and Arrow, which do not have any ties to Smallville.

John I wish Michael Rosenbaum had been casted as the Flash in the upcoming Justice League movie. The guy is perfect for it. He has the personality and he's voiced the character several times in the animated shows and movies.

I agree, Michael Rosenbaum would make a good Flash, but I'm not sure about him as Barry Allen. As you probably know he voiced the Wally West version of the Flash who has a different personality to Barry, he is more light-hearted imo. Although it seems that Barry in the upcoming JLA movie has Wally's personality more than Barry's, so yeah Michael Rosenbaum probably would be a good choice, but I think they wanted someone younger, and so they went with Ezra Miller. But as for fans getting confused if they cast Tom as Clark in Supergirl . . . I'm sorry to say but I don't really care about the part-time fans who don't understand or don't follow the shows/ comics ect. I would like to see the movie/tv producers make movies/tv shows for the hardcore fans that already have knowledge and an appreciation of the characters, not just those who are jumping on the bandwagon.

Tom Welling was great on Smallville, and was especially exciting when his character turned dark, although he is equally good at comedy. The three movies mentioned post-Smallville featured Tom in minor roles, and their success or failure was not dependent on him. Tom's potential is unlimited, with a capacity for romance, comedy, action, and drama, plus he has a massive fan base, and anything he wants to take on will be supported by us.
I loved Smallville, I miss seeing Tom's face in my life :)

What the hell are you talking about it's still a piece of S**t the CG is S**t and the fights are ridiculously stupid sometimes there are no laws of physics at all like in one episode there was this completely BS of a fight where supergirl's heat vision come in contact not only with another beam from a weapon of whatever the hell it was (which would have been stupid enough) but also with other two weapons one of them was a gravity gun I think a d**n gravity gun and another gun which wasn't explained enough anyway the three beams went against her heat vision beam at different angles like they were some harry potter spells the hell. and earlier in that episode we saw supergirl giving whom I think will be superboy later a hair cut using her heat vision which would require a surgical precision not to hurt him and to stop the beam the moment the hair is cut or she would burn the apartment OK so now we know how precise she is but later in the last fight she started shooting heat vision beams on the main villain who was running on his feet and manged to doge them all or she missed him all the time what the actual F**k is that.
Don't get me wrong here man I was trying really hard with this show trying to give it a chance but enough is enough till they fix this S**T I am not watching it again not that it matters to anyone but I am just saying.

I think I know what's wrong with Tom Welling. He's being type casted for superhero roles. I think after over a decade of Smallville T.W. is burnt out on the whole super hero persona. He wants to grow and branch out as a serious actor taking on more dramatic roles, but he can't bcuz he's only ever offered the hero type cast. He's desperately trying to break free of it, but that's just not possible, especially when he spent so much time on such an epic series. Sorry Tom, becoming successful is apart of the job, especially when your good at it. The only way you can move out of the hero role is to embrace it for now, get back in the game, and slowly but surely branch out from it all together. Producers will take notice and wanna have you be apart of their team.

It´s ridiculous why sometimes Hollywood does this to actors. Most times it´s not really their fault that the movie fails. Look at Andrew Garfield´s Spiderman. He was really good doing his job but because the director producer or whatever made kind of bad second movie they didn´t made the third. It´s pathetic that an actor gets the blame for things that he probably doesn´t have a choice in.

Smallville was great. The last few seasons weren't as good as you could tell the writers where running out of things to do so they started bringing on more and more DC characters which was a bad idea, it was alot better with just a tiny few. I loved how the show showed you how he discovered his powers and how him and Lex became best friends to enemies. Lex was amazing, and his dad was even better. Stone cold the pair of them.
Idk I felt like the later season was turning dark and showing more of Clark Kent's path which the justice league does play a role in that.
