    Also, I wasn't able to be a rescue swimmer because even though my vision is correctable to 20/20 with my contacts in, my left eye is crap without it. There is a minimum on that too, just in case anyone else is reading this. But I am super happy with getting AIRC dry, anyway. :) I can't wait to get started! :DDD

    I ship for boot camp August, 5th. Thanks for the video, it definitely convinced me to just stick with the dry aircrew contract that I already have instead of trying to volunteer for rescue swimmer. If it's not too personal though, how did you get medically discharged?

    The only thing you need to pass RS is a will to not quit, the toughest guys in my class quit, it was the guys that wanted it the most that graduated. I was an AW with HSL-43, I think we had the best job the Navy had to offer. The thing about Undes is true. Dont quit. Nothing worth having ever came easy.

    I've been here st ACCS for a week and I can tell u that everything he said is right so far. It isn't hard if u come in prepared and focused. I'm rss contracted and they told us that there are only like 2 dry helo spots per class. It us hard to get. The only thing I have heard differently is if u fail rss u dont go undes you just go to a dry aircrew rating cuz ur already an ACCS graduate. That is what our instructor told us.

    I've been training to become a rescue swimmer and I've been told what they mainly do is train and are basically aircrewmen. Im having a hard time finding information and actual rescue swimmers who create videos, so I'm thinking of starting mine up keeping up with my personal experience, observations, and advise. I've been given a lot of advice which I'm lucky to have, I just wish I could find more in depth information.

      Alvanzi Guerriera are you going in as an Air Rescue?

    • @AmberHainsworth
      @AmberHainsworth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Renato Tanamachi Yes I plan to. My Future goal is to become a PJ in the Air Force and I know AIRR in the will be a great first stepping stone. A lot of people are telling me to just go for it now,
      but I think it's worth dedicating more time to prapare. I take the lifestyle requirements very seriously.

      Alvanzi Guerriera i have a Rescue Swimmer contract, i ship out to bootcamp in 9 days.... do you have a rescue swimmer contract?

    • @AmberHainsworth
      @AmberHainsworth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Renato Tanamachi Congrats, good luck to you. No I haven't reached that far in the process. Like I said, I'm still unsure if I should go that route or just go straight for PJ in the Air Force. I've been talking to my recruiter as well as servicemen, veterans, and special operators I know. I don't want to jump too soon. Regardless I will be enlisting within the next few months. I've been trying to take time to make the right decision I've spent many years preparing for it so I want to be completely sure of the job I want to go for.

    • @renatodeperu5599

    Found your vids looking for info for a friend about to go aircrew. Good info. Things have changed alot since I was in. 95-2001. For one, I don't recognize the rates. When I was in, it was either AW, AE, or AM. I went AE/SAR. Youre right about one thing Rescue Swimmer School is no joke. You will get your ass PT'd to death. Aircrew school used to be a pain too. They ran our ass off on the beach, O-course, woods. From what I hear its not even that physically demanding anymore. No O-cours

    FACT:
    If you're outta Aircrew and didn't get your bonus, go to your legal dept. and get your extra 2 years knocked off and make it a 4 yr. contract worked for me and the other kicked out aircrew people. If you got your bonus and wanna get out of it. My friend went to out legal dept. Set up a system to pay back the bonus and got those extra yrs. knocked off. Try it.

    This may be a little outdated, cuz I saw on the CREO that AWs, most sub rates, and SOs are all undermanned, mostly cuz theyre tough as fuck and not many people like SSNs but yea. And if theyre downsizing why are they still actively recruiting at schools and shit? that seems counterintuitive. Im not saying he doesn't know what he's talking about but why are they still recruiting if theyre over manned? And how can I make sure they don't fuck me over? Besides not enlisting until you can handle it

    • @AmberHainsworth
      @AmberHainsworth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      goingcommando27 you're right they're not overmanned, special operation jobs have been under manned for the past few years , that's what my recruiter has told me, servicemen, as well as people I know going through training right now. It's hard to find people who will actually give 100% daily. It's not a normal personality, the majority of people lack the unwavering drive.

    • @AmberHainsworth
      @AmberHainsworth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Around 2010 the special forces did have way more operators. Now, not so much. But I have a feeling within the next few years the positions will fill pretty quickly and the possibility of making it through will be even harder.

    Thank you SO much! I just watched both of your videos! My bf is in Basic right now, graduating Jan 18th. I am waiting to ship to Great Lakes in April. We are both AIRC. Do you have any tips or advice for us? We are trying to get married next December (2013), hoping that we will both be able to get leave from A school for the holidays. Anything helps! Thanks!!

    I have a contract for rescue swimmer and I leave next month... I'm a good swimmer, alright runner... I'm pretty passionate about SAR but I'm worried now. I don't want to end up driving a truck somehow. Any more insight on RSS?

      If you are a good swimmer, then you'll be fine. Practice hauling your buddies around in the pool! (From a former SH60B aircrewman/rescue swimmer, 1987-1996). The hardest part about RSS is the mental stuff (the mind games).

    It's no walk in the park. My class started with 29 and we graduated 7. It's not only physically challenging but mentally challenging also, and that aspect is probably most important. You MUST keep a clear head at all times and be able to think through stressful situations.Probably the best advise I could give is to focus on the task at hand and ignore what I term the "noise", the screaming and yelling, the instructor in your face asking you how FUBAR you really are.

I don't want to be a Flight Enigineer or anything like a mechanic, I want something like a gun on a Seahwak or something like that maybe a loadmaster ? I'll even do radar or something. Can you tell me anything about it please ? The vid is great thanks alot.
