    I don’t understand why people think that 6.5 Creedmoor is questionable for a hunting rifle because I’ve used 243s for a long time and done just fine

    • @mr.happyfunguy3772
      @mr.happyfunguy3772 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cause it was designed to be a target cartridge, introduced as such, and is named after THE long range rifle range in the country, that being the Creedmore range. I don’t dispute the FACT that it takes deer and sheep and all that jazz, just explaining why people diss it. Also, because it does these things, doesn’t mean it excels at any of them.

      @@mr.happyfunguy3772 I think it’s more about how people have a habit of hearing things so they repeat them. They don’t speak from experience they just hear some jack wagon say some stupid shit and take it too seriously.. then start repeating the same bullshit..

    With copper being less dense than lead, you get into length of projectile coming into play even though overall weight is less. Thus making the difference in groupings although it being different weights. Keep up the good work Adam, I stay tuned daily!!! God bless and good shooting!

    That 120 grain Barnes is going to be around the same length as the 140 grain lead core projectiles, it’s not the weight that matters it’s the length that needs to match up with the twist rate.

    Hard to be unhappy with those as groups as a 5 shot group & throw out the "Flier". Both rifles would have a solid "sub-moa" 5 shot if you slide the targets together...I think. So good to go with both. Look out whitetail out to 400 yards in the right hunter's hands.

    I've shot Barnes bullets in my 243, 7mm rem mag for 15+ years, they shoot well in most rifles I've ever tried them in. As far as taking deer, probably my favorite bullet. I've only recovered one bullet after it went almost the full length of a whitetail and looked like advertised except for missing one of the pedals. So they exspand and penetrate as well. 😎

    I’m sure I will get called names and told I don’t know what I am talking about by all the 6.5 fan boys out there for this comment but my experience hunting with the 6.5 left a lot to be desired. Bought a 6.5 a couple of years ago for whitetail and was really excited to hunt with it. It shot great and and was super accurate could get great groups with almost every bullet I tried, but was super disappointed in the amount of damage it did. I shot multiple deer at between 100 and 250 yards and no exit wound and no blood trail. I tried several different bullets all with the same outcome. Like I said it is a great round for long distance accuracy and what not but for performance on whitetail my experience was 👎. Only hunted with it one season and went back to 30-06 since then I have talked to dozens of guys with the same experience. Still got the gun and still love shooting it just not in the deer woods!

      Hi BW. May i ask which brand and weight of bullet was giving you poor terminal performance? I have used various 6.5mm cartrigdes for the last 25 years and never had any terminal performance issues on deer. You may just need to use a stouter bullet that is better suited to the impact velocity.

I have both 6mm and 6.5mm creedmors factory trigger was about 4 lbs. Huge improvement after changing them out for the lighter trigger springs. Both Rutgers shoot 1/2 groups at 100yds which is almost as good as my Bergara b14 which cost twice as much as the Ruger. You can also convert the Rugers to use AI style magazine for under $30. Ill save you the trouble of lost or wounded game, they suck as hunting bullets. I tried to like them and tried factory and handloads of various calibers (.257, 7mm, .338) and was always disappointed. They dont seem to open up and transfer energy even out of magnums. Had multiple 3-4 hour track jobs with no blood with perfect shots and even lost a nice bear after tracking with hounds for over a half mile. Stick to a good bonded or partition style bullet if you want the best terminal performance.

      Took a nice 11 point this year on KANSAS rifle opener November 30. Hunted grand total of 3 hours & done. My Browning Xbolt long range Stalker 26" barrel 243 loves the Barnes 85 grain TSX. Guide called my rifle a Coyote rifle & i told him if a shooter came across this field he would change his mind. When he came to pick me up at the stand he wasgrinning &. He couldn't believe i killed my buck at 250 yards. I just told him, Nuff Said! Later he went to skin deer out & him & some other hunters said dang at the destruction & couldn't believe a 243 had done that much damage. I told them, get some Barnes! 🤣🦌🦌🦌🦌

    One thing you might want to get is a lab radar and do a velocity testing at the same time

    And under those 120 barns will handle deer and elk just fine . Broadside with the elk obviously but I’ve never found a bullet with a boiler room shot on elk

    You ever measured bullet length? Ive found my 270 win tikka like length. Not really grain weight. Likes 140 grain lead core bullets. And absolutely loves 130gr monolithics

    Next time I want to see a five shot group with each shot on a cold barrel. Just like the five you’d hope to shoot from your deer rifle. 😳
    I like to do it with mine and see what she does.

    The most accurate rounds I ever found for 6.5 CM is the 140gr Sig Saur, hard to find but they took my groups from an inch to 1/4 at 100.

    Nikon may have stopped making scopes, but two of the guys that made the scopes from Nikon have their own company called Tract. I just picked up some of those Barnes today, not cheap ( $100 ), I'll see if my American likes them or not.
