I have lost 50lbs in 4 months by eating fat loaded food, zero exercise trying to reverse pre diabetes. Having watched this video which makes sense to me, I will follow the advice provided here, because it makes sense. I am attending a conference in London next weekend where Dr Ken Berry / Dr Andrew Chaffee / Dr David Unwin / Prof Benjamin Bikman are speakers. Some of these promote a high fat diet. Lets hope the confusion surrounding the best natural diet we all find on the internet is discussed and agreed upon.
@@vanessamay3689would you like me to try to find the video where he spoke about him that way? I can do that when I get home if you're genuinely open to seeing it.
I did dr westman adapt your life under 20 total carbs for 2 months, first 2 weeks rough, the next 6 weeks still felt miserable. Then had a little white rice, the sun shone, a spring in my step. Then i thought go harder. So carnivore+ green onion and a pickle (no rice) so maybe 2 gram carbs then another solid month of misery. Now i cook a 1/4 cup of white rice to add to 3 carnivore meals and now i feel good! I will reduce that rice over time until and unless i feel miserable, and i will stay at the step before. So i am 85% carnivore calorie wise. Perhaps the glycogen production/ uptake is broke. 30+ years of intractable chronic fatigue syndrome, unable to work for decades. I hope im doing the best i can to get better. Better late then never. Thank you.
Congratulations! You’ve done a successful N=1 for yourself and found a good balance for your personal metabolism. As Dr. Berry says, it’s a spectrum and people’s tolerance for carbs vary across populations. We all have to pay attention to our own bodies.
I’ve been doing keto/ carnivore for 6 months and too low carbs I don’t feel good either. I have had chronic fatigue for 30 years and yo yo dieting for 40 years and messed myself up. I’m still trying to find my sweet spot- happy you found yours 🌺
@edithatwood7814 so why does my rice work for me? It's only 10g of carbs a meal. Today I think I heard the answer. It is enough of a glucose hit to drive potassium and the electrolytes where it needs to go. Um look up shawn baker and a video with sally k norton dated 4 years ago maybe watch the whole thing if you don't know about oxolates, otherwise watch the last half. She talks about the carbs electrolyte i think that is why my rice works whereas 20g westman diet didn't feel good, nor did near zero, and zero. Carnivore base is everything to nourish!

15% diabetics are not overweight... says the internet. Im a skinny sugar addict former vegetarian. Now carnivore, I became muscular. Mostly red meat, but I eat as much butter and cheese as I want. Makes a skinny sick insulin resistant person healthy and strong. I mention this because skinny sick people need advise too. When you are skinny, everybody encourages you to eat sugar, and the keto community encourages you to lose weight. I think how much fat you should eat can be determined by taste and desire for it, if you are not overweight.
Do it gradually, slowly remove a carb week by week otherwise you might get the keto flu where your body is forced to adapt rapidly and you'll feel awful until your body fully adapts. If you do it slowly, you won't feel that side affect and you'll find cravings for the goods you let go vanish alot easier
Fabulous interview! When I was 24, in 1972, I read the article in Vogue Magazine about Dr Atkins, bought his book......the part I missed was the (for me) very addictive nature of carbs. It's been a struggle all these years - Thank you all for your wisdom and good sense!

I do exercise about 6-8 hrs a week, mostly cycling, some jogging and a bit strength. I lost 8kg (9%) bodyweight within 2 month doing 16/8 on reduced carb. Going lower than 100g carbs I just don't feel energetic enough, and honestly, I don't want to only eat meat, fish and eggs. There is a lot of other great enjoyable food. Its only about moderating the more problematic stuff (bread pasta etc) but not avoiding it alltogether.
Westman doesn't make you just eat those. You can eat lower glycaemic veggies and quite a few dairy products as well as sea foods. This is usually where people make mistakes by only eating those 3 things. Secondly not everyone can't get away with no carbs. These doctors are treating people who are typically in their 30s - 80s who are type 2 diabetic and struggle to exercise due to other medical conditions caused by diabetes. You want maybe Dr. Paul Mason or Dr. Tim Nokes who talk keto in terms of athletes and those who do exercise. Westman has said in countless other interviews that he works with each patient to individualise what will work for them and within their means (what they physically can do and what they physically can afford.)
I need some help. I've been on carnivore for a little over a year now. Around 10 years ago i started having some small palpitations when i would lay down. I seen a cardiologist back then, I had an echo done. Dr said that there is nothing wrong with my heart structurally. He said that it was nothing to worry about at all. Fast forward to now, they are much worse now. I eat 3-4 double yolk eggs with cheese for breakfast and my last meal is usually a 1lb fatty ribeye. I use LMNT and have even tried drinking 3-4 packages per day and raised my Redmond real salt intake. I also started to take an extra 500mg of potassium, 1,200mg of magnesium (magnesium oxide which causes very loose stools at times.) per day. I have noticed that at times when I'm having a lot of palpitations, I can eat a decent amount of Redmond salt and they seem to not be as hard hitting. I used to drink a little over 1 gallon of water every day and have tried to cut back on that high amount of water thinking that I'm flushing out too many electrolytes. I just had some labs done and i asked the dr what my electrolyte levels were because I haven't received my copy yet. She said that the only thing that was low is my sodium. It is 1 point below. Whatever that means. I'm also a little low on vitamin d. Could it be possible that my body needs more than 5k-6k mg of salt per day, or could low vitamin d cause palpitations? I'm scheduled for a 7 day event monitor, but it's a little over a month away. Thanks in advance for any and all help!
