Right here on YT, a Chinese contractor made a comment that in a certain African country (it was very clear to me that he was talking about Kenya), construction of projects were stopped upon changing on governments, and some are just being restarted a year later, after govt people have re-negotiated for their cuts and the price of construction supplies had already increased greatly. He was making the point that African governments are really wasteful

Did I hear that right?? Now how does the area Senator Maanzo (whose #1 responsibility should be oversight on behalf of the County) become the lawyer for the same contractor they're responsible for holding to account if anything goes wrong??? This is the sort of conflict of interest nonsense only possible/allowed in Kenya/Africa😪

These type of Contracts are difficult to run. There are so many variables especially in the material. There will be Cost Overruns and other very small problems like acquisition of land. The main problem for this project however is water quality. Nairobi River is one of the tributaries of Athi Rive, just downstream of the Kangundo Road Bridge. This is actually an open sewer from Nairobi and causes pollution in In Athi River up to Malindi. Someone carried out a Quality Profile of water in Athi River up to its outlet into the Indian ocean and it showed that the water was not fit even for washing your body. If it were me in government, I would build a "Treatment Works" for the entire River at a location far upstream to ensure the downstream reaches of this River have water of acceptable drinking quality.

I supervised construction of Thika Dam at Ndakaini which was funded by World Bank and there were always money Problems. One time we (Consultant and Nairobi City Council) took it upon ourselves to allow the German Government to fund the Dam to completion when WB had placed a moratorium on payment of any money to Kenya. So it is possible to have money problems.@@angore_
