John's hypnotic body movement at 3:08 captures the entire mood of this performance for me. Idk why. It's just such a slow, heavy song but there's so much energy behind it. This song is a swaying cobra about to strike... No, a crocodile slowly coasting up to a zebra at the watering hole, just before exploding out of the water and snatching it by the face to drag it under.

John does sing, "While alone you'll surely be" in this performance, but not on the recording. For me "soul" works better since he references "astral seasons," but of course the master can sing whatever whenever he chooses. LOL
Astral = Relating to a supposed nonphysical realm of existence to which various psychic and paranormal phenomena are ascribed, and in which the physical human body is said to have a counterpart. As in "spiritual beings from the astral plane".
Astral Seasons is also a video game.

It kinda saddens seing Thee Oh Sees with only one drummer ...don't get me wrong, Dan Rincon is doing an amazing job, but what I liked the most when seing them live was the punch of the two drumsets that ended up straight to your f'ing face. I heard they hired a new one, can't wait to see him in action :)

@A Tree Yeah with a "full time" synthesizer, I never had the chance to saw them live with this configuration, but the videos I've watched sounded interesting as well. And I'm not saying they won't sound great as a three piece band, I'm only saying I really liked the fact that they had two drummers because I think it was a big part of their recent sound/performance. Anyways, I still will see them at least two times this year, we'll see what they have in stock to blow our mind !!

Joshua Jiménez I think its Erik Jimenez from Together Pangea on drums, he was playing on the recent eu tour anyway, I think Ryan stated hed left for personal reasons.
I saw TOS last year witn both drummers at the beginning of the tour and always thought Dan was quite a weak drummer compared to Ryan, but watching this now, Dan has improved so much after a long stint of touring, I think they would be fine with just him now, hes a fucking beast!!

Cool dude, i love him. Finally a band with quality attitude. You should publish the KEXP recording. Because I think that the album unfortunately does not come across so well, in contrast to the live session. Such as. the Delvon Lamarr organ trio did that too.

Saw the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio @ Detroit Jazz Festival. Two words: phenomenally funky. Easily my favourite performance during the festival. They made me shake my groove thang righteously.
