  • Hi Everyone!
    Granny stitches are so easy, fun & popular!
    How cute is this granny stitch turtleneck poncho! You can also make a mock turtleneck to wear under a jacket! I just love this and it's super easy! It's a granny square stitch and so easy! Hope you like it!
    Turtleneck poncho
    Yarn Bee Sugarwheel in Pixie Twist
    2 skeins ( buy 3 or 4 if you want it longer)
    Size I/9 or 5 1/2 mm hook
    FPDC = front post double crochet
    BPDC = back post double crochet
    STS = stitches
    SP = space
    Collar
    Chain 70 (if you want it for larger sizes you can increase in increments of 4)
    **Please note that if you change the size of the collar, the pattern will vary in stitch count in all rows. If you are proficient at crochet this should be a breeze)
    Round 1
    Dc in 4th ch from hook & dc in each ch, join w/slip stitch in top of ch 4 (68 dc)
    (You can join loose end and weave in)
    Round 2
    Ch 3 (always counts as 1st fpdc)
    Fpdc in next st, bpdc in next 2 sts, fpdc in next 2 sts, repeat around and join w/sl st to top of ch 3
    Round 3- 8 (you can make this collar height as tall as you'd like)
    Ch 3, always fpdc in fpdc and bpdc in bpdc
    Round 9
    Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in the next st, rep around and join w/sl st in top of ch 1 (103 or 104 sc, it could vary)
    Round 10
    Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join w/sl st to top of ch 2 (total of 104 hdc)
    Round 11 & 12
    Ch 3 (always counts as 1st dc) & turn your work, 2 dc in same sp, sk 2, 3 dc in next st, rep around, join w/sl st to top of ch 3.
    Round 13
    Ch 3 & turn your work, 2 dc in same sp, skip 2, 3 dc in next sp, rep until you have 18 of the 3 dc, then ch 2 and make 18 more 3 dc clusters
    Round 14 - 36 (or more if longer style desired)
    Always ch 3, turn and 2 dc in same sp), repeating with 3 dc in every open space.
    Weave in your ends

    I love this pattern! I found a way to make it seamless, each row ending up at exactly the same place, making this gorgeous pattern even prettier. (1) At the beginning of a row, after joining with a slip stitch, I TURN to go back in the opposite direction. (2) I then start the next row with a chainless stacked dc (find instructions on TH-cam) instead of a chain. If I am in the ribbing section, I make that stacked dc around the post. (Mark the stitch for ease of recognition.) 3. When you start the next row, you will slip stitch into the top of the stacked dc of the previous row, then again TURN and start the row once again with a new stacked dc. ANOTHER TIP: When joining the work after the first row, if you don't seam up the whole side, only join at the bottom, you can easily work your post stitch around that first stitch in the next row without being blocked by a seam. Thank you for this pattern!

    I’m making the mock turtle neck, works good with my uniform peacoat I have to wear at work. Just a suggestion for the first DC in each round that is 3 chains, try making a front post single crochet, then chain 2. It helps pull that stitch out a little and look more like a fpdc.

    This is a gorgeous pattern! I would like to try to make it with the Lion Brand Mandala yarn you showed at the beginning of the video. Would you recommend using a 5.5 mm hook even though Mandala is a #3 weight yarn? I see that the Yarn Bee is a #4 weight.

    • @SparklyOne
      @SparklyOne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Melissa! Thank you so much! I used a 5.5 mm hook for all the ponchos I showed in the video. They all turned out beautifully. If you are a loosed crocheter you can go down one size for your hook. Just make sure you have enough yarn. I used 2 skeins for each one, so if you need a larger size you’ll need one extra skein. Please keep me posted 💝 Happy crocheting 🧶🥰

      Hi Pat 😀 I would make a ch of 80 and make the first row of double crochets and put it around your head and see if you are good with that size. You can also use a J hook and that will make it a little larger. Hope that helps. Please comment again with your progress, as I know that it helps so many others 🥰🙌🏻 Happy crocheting 🧶😘
