We, who did not see it on TV for some reason, are like a bunch of addicts waiting for the next fix. Daytona 24 means the season has finally started and we have lots of great racing ahead. The cars this year are just amazing especially in the GT categories. Thank you IMSA for posting so quickly and for organizing this great series.

Agreed. Was bewildered by Motors TV not showing it. They showed the whole 24 hrs of Sports car racing in the desert the other week. With respect to that series, it was a good race with lots of intrigue but IMHO it isn't as good as WEC and the other series run on the same lines such as this. I have my grandkids on the way over this pm. Bless you IMSA and TH-cam!
I love watching these in school in my free time and people laugh at me because its a old person thing, they are missing out on something amazing!

I'm very thankful that IMSA continues to allow thier product to be viewed on You Tube without restriction. This is one of the few sports I can enjoy without subscribing to the Cable TV leash. Thank You IMSA.

Loved Tom Kristensen's comments about circuits. Tracks in the USA and Australia (I'm an Aussie) are more old school tracks where if you make a mistake, you pay either with a hit on the wall or you end up in a sand trap or have to go across the grass to get back on track. In Europe with all of that asphalt runoff area at a lot of tracks (e.g. Paul Ricard) drivers don't respect the edge of the track. I watched the Blancpain Endurance race from Paul Ricard a few weeks back and drivers were going off the track everywhere trying to pick up extra speed yet they weren't being penalised for it.

Thanks IMSA for this beautiful broadcast! European WEC broadcast can learn a lot from you. The WEC is only focussed on the P1 cars. Here you see everything!! And while im a big Le Mans fan i must say that the Daytona 24 is my overall favourite.

OH MAN OH MAN!!! I watched the live broadcast from the app and only missed approx.6 hrs of it, but I still get excited watching it again. :)))))) Those GTLM and GTD machines are sooo damn sexy!!!!! Most people want a regular Lambo while I want a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 like No.11! This is some exciting racing, in my opinion better than Formula 1. And the commentators from the IMSA app do such a great job at getting you excited and glued to your phone watching the race. Same ones that commented the 2015 Liquid Moly 12hrs of Bathrust and which I can't stop watching the last 30 mins of that race, just as crazy as the end of this race! THANKS IMSA!!!

19:47 This isn't a good thing. A car's "personality" is what makes it so great to watch and drive. A car only becomes truly great when it becomes more than just a tool. More than a means to an end. One of the things that made racing of the past so spectacular was the personality of both the vehicles and the people who drove them. Things that are missing in modern day racing.
I think you guys at IMSA are a better series in terms of schedule and competition than the WEC or the Blancain series especially when you guys upload your races free of charge to your fans who can't watch the full race
Black-Op345Gaming schedule is difficult to argue for/against, as IMSA is only in North America but WEC can only do 1 race per country.

How do tickets work for this event? Does a ticket get you a full 24 hour seat?
m s you don't buy an individual seat, you buy a ticket to go to the event.
I don't see how fox sports forgets to add the two turns immediately after turn 1 when they showed me the track map. It just seems like they don't exist.
The blue oval paint schemes of this race season and that red horse scheme of GTLM make it kind of confusing for when it comes to telling the two apart. For example if you are talking about the Ford, and you mistakenly say the Joey hand in Ferrari, would you as the media get in trouble or not. I think the next race package should include the car numbers in big font on the roof of every car and class

IMSA is a very good championship but I really don't like the 2 step starting ,we miss half the action of the first lap because you watch the another start.

+TheJCJexe than you need to check out Blancpain Sprint Series ("GTWorld" youtube channel) they have all those cars and 3h, 6h, 12h and 24h races

+jack coffey That's not true, it's up to the teams to buy the cars and apply for entry in the IMSA championship.
+armorgeddon incorrect, for a manufactuer to have a car in Gtd they must pay around 1 million dollars, look it up. It is why Merc, Bentley, and mclaren were not at the Rolex. Look it up before u respond.

Forgive me for not knowing, as I wasn't alive back then, but I thought that the Ford GT was permanently banned from competitive racing back in the 60's, because the cars were completely dominating LeMans for something like five straight years.
That's the 60's the current GT is NOT the dominant GT40
In fact the previous generation of GT was a tribute to the GT40

Christopher0184 the Ford GT was never banned, it raced until the regulations no longer made it eligible. And this is a very different car to the 1965 one, since it is 51 years newer and a completely different car.

Vincent Mercer LMP1 though so it isn't eligible, and if it was it would be several seconds a lap quicker than anything else.

julz O'sullivan no he was racing because he is a Chip Ganassi Racing driver and they run all of the Ford programmes in this race.

Whilst I appreciate the coverage and the fact its free to watch on youtube, the commentary really leaves something to be desired. They're basically just telling us what we can see on the screen ourselves with very little insight into anything else. Im only two and a half hours in but a number of cars have had issues and the only way you would know is by watching the leaderboards at the top. I mean they didn't even acknowledge that certain cars had issues let alone report on what they were. The radio le mans commentary on the livestream was much more informative and interesting
