Super Duck Hunt drops the famous characters of Duck Hunt into an 8bit, war torn Nintendo world, where only one unlikely, four legged hero can to save the day.... viewers are not advised to hold their breath!

Super Duck Hunt is a fully featured and stylised animated short, presented with authentic 8bit video game visuals. This project uses thousands upon thousands of painstakingly dotted, original sprites created specifically for this film.
Only a handful (12) of sprites originally existed for the Dog before I intervened.
Please forgive the dips in quality at times; this was my training piece, where I cut my teeth in the field of animation.
Complaints about the story are warranted; this short film was not made in a linear fashion; The intro and ending are the newest footage while the middle is the oldest, with touch ups.
Super Duck Hunt is essentially a series of difficult animating challenges, presented to myself, with a further effort to seamlessly string it all together in an entertaining manner.
The story was of course an after thought, but I am really pleased to see the negative reaction to an unresolved premise from a few viewers, which tells me that those people became invested in the story initially presented, telling me that I did something right.
There are pacing issues throughout that I am aware of, this seems to be my biggest problem when it comes to animation, I overestimate the patience of the viewer.
PROJECT GOAL
Create a grand pixelated Super Mario animation minus Mario using another infamous, exciting but under used retro gaming character in his place. Create original sprite assets to accomplish this goal.

Epic Lemon TR Originally that "gesture" went on for way longer. There's even an additional (removed) animation were the Dog is really getting into it.

This, is good animation, there are so many good animators that are not recognized and this is one of them.

Please make a follow-up to this. The story is a bit "out there," but it'd be nice to have some kind of conclusion.

Probably because it was started in 2004; I missed a few deadlines, it was pretty much the duke nukem forever of the post millennium pixelated parody scene, one that I luckily didn't tell anyone about, so nobody noticed it was late when it came out in 2012.
All those sprites take a long time to draw, as it happens... also my patience took 6 month beaks at regular intervals, which probably had alot to do with the timing as well.
I'd love to see more of this!

Ron Gilman I actually found the old storyboard for this today. The Dog was supposed to laugh at the viewer at the end...... man, I shouldn't have cut that out.... then again, the unlikes could probably be multiplied by two with it in, so.... lol

I don't care what you say, I have been waiting years for a Smash to be able to play as a realistic dog, and now I got my wish since Nintendo FINALLY remembered they had a realistic dog in one of their prior franchises.

Why didn't you put Mario in it? I thought there was a high chance for him being in it, because you put Kirby, goombas, and other Mario enemies!
The animation is amazing, but the plot and pacing have some major flaws. There are way too many little mini-asides that go on, and all the dog does is run/get hit. I was really hoping he would hit that hammer bro with the hammer, more to save the plot than to root for the dog (although I did root for him still). The intro was great, but there were way too many unnecessary references and nothing happens plot-wise. If you made it more straightforward, then it could be a stunning animation, but nothing really HAPPENS. In the description you say this was not really a story and that it was more of a series of animation challenges, and if you look at it that way, it's incredible. But to market it as a story really doesn't work. There should be a disclaimer at the beginning about it being not made with an audience in mind. If you put your amazing talent into a story with a great plot, you could make an incredible animation.
