    Good point about the new colour schemes each year. If the colours are something you don't like it doesn't really matter what the latest upgrades are.

    True, you can get either model year brand new. True I can get a 19 for $6,500 OTD. BUT... IMO... the styling is so much sharper in the 2020 model. The seat is more comfy and roomier than the 2020, AND (the big safety and style point to me) is the fact that you get dual low beams. The bike is just sharper all around. The wind screen is taller. And I can get the KRT ABS for $7,500 OTD. Yeah, I'd buy the 2020. For the money I'd put Race Tech suspension all around and probably some lower bars or clip-ons. Proper.

    I much prefer the shape of the headlights on the 2019. But LEDs and the display are sweet. If you have a 2017-2019 there's no major reason to upgrade. But if you're buying your first one, it's definitely worth considering, as the price difference is negligible. My favorite is probably the old candy-orange color scheme. With the new KRT green coming in a close second.

    I'm not going to say this is the case with LJ specifically, but I'm sure there are those with buyer's remorse with 2019 purchasers finding out there are upgrades on the 2020 model. So we're going to get a bunch of people saying how happy they are with their 2019 bikes and basically be in denial that they wish they had waited or had known their was going to be upgrades. That said, going to like and sub to LJ because he seems like he knows how to put a decent video together and I'll be restarting the hobby after a 10+ year break early spring. I'm looking at either the Ninja 650, Ninja 1000 or GSXR 750.

    • @LJsGarage
      @LJsGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      William you are telling it like it is. Honestly, if I had just picked up a '19 I would certainly have a bit of that feeling, but luckily the upgrades aren't major. I'm on a few of the Ninja forums and some of these guys are riding their bikes from the 90s lol. Really it's all subjective and what your budget dictates. Thank you for the input and positive feedback ✊🏾

    Also, the new 2020 Ninja 650 meets Euro 5, for which Kawasaki has made some tuning on the engine and exhaust system. I think the engine response and power delivery should be a little better than the 2019 model.

    Not expecting any major upgrades on Engines/Suspension/Transmissions but if that display did more than just being digital (ex navigation.,.) then it would be worth it, since it will help along in long rides. But even I feel like going with 2019 version. Ride wise both are the same. The bottom line of buying the bike is commute. That didn't change from 2019 to 2020.

    I stumbled across your videos looking for headlight/tail light upgrades. I have the exact same bike, I’m looking at doing the headlights first but I’m not sure what kit/bulbs to get. If you were to purchase the upgrade what would you get/recommend? And for everyone else I have 12k miles on the bike and I’m 6’2” 225lbs and i just did a 700 mile trip this past weekend and yeah you get a little bit of pain from sitting in the seat but with breaks every hour or so you can ride all day with no issue.

    I would be down for trading mine in if it wasn't for the fact they haven't made a 4cyl but they made the 250cc a 4cyl. They should make it 4cyl and bump power to 80hp or so with the same features as the 25R. Love that they kept the underbody exhaust. Another thing I don't like is that the TFT display looks small and cheap, not like the Honda 1000RR for example. Also, although it says it connects via Bluetooth it doesn't show GPS directions which is deceiving.

    • @LJsGarage
      @LJsGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like where you're going with the 4cyl thoughts but it would make this bike a whole different bike to ride. Just my opinion I'd have to hop on the 250 4cyl and see what that's about 🤔

    Still, can’t really justify the difference. $2200-ish dollars buys a crap-ton of gear, more courses, etc. If the prices were a bit closer...maybe. Guess I’ll just have to ride around caveman style. :)

    My previous bikes were late 90's VFR's and my last bike was a late 90's GPZ-1100. I was off bikes for about 7 years and then came back. I have a love HATE relationship with my 19 650. Love i got her for all of $6k out the door new. Love how she looks....she looks fast sitting still! What i HATE....that dam skinny ass rear tire....i would give my right kidney for a fatter rear tire especially when riding on the highway...and it's windy....and there are other cars......in the back woods....no problem....80mph....problem! and that wooden pogo stick of a front end! It's 2020 so why does it have almost the exact suspension of my old 1995 GPZ? And that rear end....do a video on how to adjust the sag on this thing, it's not easy you will need a hammer!.....and then do the math....and you quickly realize 250lbs is about the max this bike can carry. Now adjusting the rear spring does help the front end feel better but still.....wow! what gives! and the sound.....sigh the sound.......why that sound! why oh why that sound. Honestly.....its like so close but off

    LJ,
    Appreciate the video and perspective between the 2019 and 2020. I was thinking much as you were about keeping my 2019, but then I went to the motorcycle show and saw the 2020 Ninja 650 KRT Edition. That's all it took, traded out two weeks later. The look of the 2020 KRT Edition over the Black 2019 almost doesn't compare, it is a much better looking bike; I also like the new dash, dual headlights, and the ride seems so much smoother. Have spent the last couple months making some minor mods and the bike is awesome. Cost me some $ to make the trade, but it turned out to be a good call.

      its worth that much since its the only 650 bike with an inline-4. The extra 2 cylinders is enough to hunk up that extra $$ and in turn you get more horses. In short, it's the most comfortable factory inline-4 bike out there today. IMO not worth it, i saw a video comparing the CB650R and MT07 which favored the CB650R granted it's price tag is $3000 more expensive than the MT07. A proper comparison would've been CB650R vs the MT09 (inline-3) and even then the MT09 destroys the CB in all points at a cheaper price tag

      Nope, you don't... I think that's why Kawasaki moved the orange over to the ZX6R for 2020, I wonder if they will sell even better with that color combo? I know people usually think Green when they hear Kawasaki, but compared to the standard colors the orange and black is just awesome! The KRT edition still looks dope though! The white is pretty nice actually on 2020 Ninja 650, but it's just a bit plain. Our model has flair to it, and the graphics break it up a bit... :-)
